Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Bliss & Bohemian Beauty (Post #1546)
Bonjour, my darling ballet bunnies! 🩰
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous instalment of my Pink Tutu Prague blog! As always, I'm writing this straight from my chic little hotel room, which is nestled in the heart of the city's enchanting Old Town. I've got my trusty pink tutu on (naturally!), a steaming mug of Earl Grey tea by my side, and a heart full of ballet bliss.
This week has been pure magic. I arrived in Prague just in time for the weekend, which means I was able to take full advantage of the city's charming atmosphere and captivating cultural offerings. Think cobbled streets, twinkling Christmas markets, and, of course, the most stunning ballet performances. I mean, what could be better than exploring a beautiful city while dancing the night away in a pink tutu? It's almost too much to handle, but I'll be the first to admit, I'm rather good at handling it all! 😉
My Journey: A Tale of Trains and a Pony!
My journey to Prague was, as always, an adventure in itself. I opted for the train journey, as there's simply nothing quite like the romance and the pure unadulterated charm of travelling by rail, especially across Europe. I did, however, find myself encountering a slight hiccup along the way. The usual route to Prague, sadly, was disrupted due to some unexpected snowfall. A slight deviation in plans meant I had to switch to a smaller, regional line that involved a scenic journey by...pony! Yes, you read that right, a pony. It was delightful! (And remarkably well-behaved!). It turned out to be a detour into fairytale-land. It really added a whole new level of enchantment to my adventure!
Ballet, Beauty & Bohemian Charm
As soon as I arrived in Prague, I felt that quintessential 'I'm-so-glad-I'm-here' excitement bubbling inside me. Prague is simply breathtaking. The architecture, the vibrant colours, the cobblestone streets - they all conspired to create a captivating atmosphere. The Old Town Square, with its magnificent Astronomical Clock and captivating stories woven into its ancient stones, stole my heart from the moment I laid eyes upon it.
However, as any true ballet aficionado knows, my first priority had to be indulging in the city's rich ballet scene. My darling friend, a fellow tutu enthusiast (you know who you are!), had recommended a breathtaking performance by the Czech National Ballet. This beautiful company held court at the stunning Prague State Opera, and let me tell you, the performance was utterly divine. We were treated to a captivating production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, a timeless masterpiece that never fails to leave me utterly mesmerised. The dancers were magnificent; their graceful movements, powerful leaps, and elegant lines were pure artistry at its finest. The costumes were a delight; every detail a tiny jewel in the grand performance. My favourite, of course, had to be the delicate tutus, crafted with exquisite detail. (A few, yes a few, had a hint of pink - we are talking Czech Republic, here, so pink was never quite at the forefront.) I sat entranced, swept away by the sheer talent of these artists. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't get a little teary-eyed during the poignant, heart-wrenching pas de deux. But what truly stole my breath was the set design, with a stunning backdrop of Prague's famous Charles Bridge, sparkling under a moonlit sky.
Shopping Spree & Style Stalking
Now, a little secret for all you pink-loving beauties, Prague is truly a wonderland for those who, like myself, indulge in a bit of retail therapy. After all, what is a trip to Prague without a shopping spree? And yes, my darling readers, I confess I bought myself a gorgeous pair of handmade pink ballet shoes with exquisite silver detailing and a darling pink ballerina pin - how could I resist? And of course, no trip is complete without adding a special something to my ever-growing tutu collection. I found a stunning pink tutu adorned with delicate lace and little silver snowflakes that are simply perfect for my next Christmas performance. (A little cheeky peek at next month’s blog post, my dears!).
Prague is known for its bohemian flair and unique style, and I embraced it with open arms and my trusty pink tutu. There are quaint shops overflowing with artisanal treasures, vintage boutiques filled with captivating relics of the past, and designers crafting beautiful clothing using luxurious materials. There's simply no end to the fashion delights awaiting those with a love for all things pretty and stylish!
Food & Feeling Fabulous
Speaking of delight, I cannot forget the food! Prague’s culinary scene is an absolute dream for any food enthusiast, and a particular pleasure for a pink tutu-clad ballerina like myself! Every day I fell in love with the charming, bohemian cafes, with their steaming cups of coffee and indulgent pastries. I especially adored the Trdelník, a delicious Czech pastry made with fresh dough, drizzled with melted butter, and dusted with sugar, which is a must-try in Prague. It was absolutely divine, especially paired with my favourite sparkling water and an Earl Grey tea, naturally. The warm and inviting atmosphere, along with the decadent smell of baked goods, truly had me feeling like I'd stepped right out of a fairytale.
Speaking of fairytales, and this is very, very secret - I have it on the best authority that a well-known Parisian pâtissier is thinking about opening a store in Prague. It will be a pink one, naturally!
But even with the delicious pastries, I make sure I stay mindful of what I eat. A tutu doesn't come with a built-in forgiving waistline, dear readers, so you will always find me indulging in a light yet fulfilling dinner. For this particular trip, my choice was for light, fresh seasonal food at local markets - lots of delicious green salad, creamy cheeses and beautiful fresh fruits. And, of course, I’ve been taking time to stretch and enjoy ballet classes at the beautifully grand, centuries old National Theatre in Prague. All in all, feeling rather fit and fab!
So there you have it, my lovely ballet bunnies, a taste of my magical Pink Tutu Prague adventures. This city has captivated me with its unique charm, historical treasures, stunning ballet, and incredible shopping, not to mention its incredible food. My darling pink tutu and I are truly smitten with this enchanting city.
Now, I am off to continue my explorations of this wondrous city. I can’t wait to discover the next enchanting alleyway or charming cafe that awaits! Keep an eye out for my blog next week! Until then, remember to always embrace your inner ballerina, rock your pink tutu with confidence, and live life with a smile! And who knows, you might find yourself in Prague too, just like me!
And remember, dear reader, Pink Tutu World will always welcome you.
Yours,
Emma. xx
