#PinkTutuPrague Ballet in Prague 2025-01-29

It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood ballerina blogger, back with another juicy post straight from the heart of Prague! The cobblestones are still echoing with my tap, tap, tap of my trusty pink tutu as I've been absolutely twirling through this stunning city.

This week, darling, has been all about ballet, of course! As you know, my life revolves around tutus and twirls, and Prague, with its majestic history and graceful architecture, seemed tailor-made for my next adventure.

It's Wednesday, my weekly blog day, so here we are! I'm sitting in a cosy café, my cappuccino getting cold while I soak up the atmosphere.

My trip began with a sunrise stroll along the Charles Bridge. The pale morning light was casting a dreamy glow on the gothic towers, the setting almost like a scene from a fairytale! I popped on my trusty pink tutu (it's surprisingly versatile) and spun under the watchful gaze of the stone saints, channeling my inner Swan Lake.

Now, you wouldn't believe the sheer delight of exploring Prague Castle. With its magnificent spires and sprawling gardens, it's like a page out of a history book. And oh, the costumes! I felt like I was stepping right into a 16th-century ball in all the lavish gowns and embroidered fabrics they've got on display. I even spotted a few tutu-esque shapes in those old fashion illustrations - a real testament to the timelessness of a well-executed tulle frock!

Prague Old Town, darling, is pure magic! It's overflowing with hidden courtyards, whimsical alleyways, and the most adorable little shops you can imagine. And the food, darling? Let’s just say my inner gourmand has been in full-blown ecstasy. The traditional dumplings are a must-try!

But let's get down to brass tacks - the main reason for my visit? Ballet, of course! The National Theatre, with its grandeur and history, had me mesmerized. And guess what? My dearest pink tutu was in attendance, making its Prague debut, of course!

Tonight, it was a ballet based on “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Honestly, darling, the costumes were stunning - I even caught myself thinking “Oh, those tutus! Could be better!” It just shows, darling, that you can't deny the power of the pink tutu – even when the scene is a woodland fairyland.

You may be wondering how a girl like me gets around, especially in a tutu. Well, darlings, trains are my best friend. It’s the only way to truly savour the views – no need for rushing, just leaning back in the luxurious leather seats, enjoying the scenery, and possibly having a cheeky nap! (Yes, I am quite good at snoozing on the go.) It’s also a chance to people watch, to spot a cute fellow traveler, maybe even inspire them with the magical beauty of a well-chosen pink tutu…

I've been traveling with a horse! Yes, a horse. It's true! (You can just hear my little "neeeeigh" echoing across the Bohemian countryside) He's been a total prince charming in navigating the charming back roads. I was going to dress him in a pink tutu but it was impractical and, well, frankly, the little fella might be embarrassed. However, the pony is my best pal, and it’s a real joy to be gliding through the stunning scenery at a gentler pace than even the most comfortable train could muster.

Shopping, darling? Oh, it's an art form here. From traditional Bohemian fabrics to the modern designs of local artisans, there's something for every taste, and trust me, my pink tutu made quite a splash! The shopkeepers were smitten with my sartorial flair - they even told me they had never seen a ballerina with such style and poise! It just goes to show, a touch of pink can go a long way!
