Pink Tutu Prague: Post 1557

Hello my darlings! 🩰

It’s Wednesday again, which means a brand new blog post from your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer. I'm currently writing to you from a sunny cafe in Prague, surrounded by the most gorgeous architecture – think pastel coloured buildings, intricate gothic spires and charming cobblestone streets. And yes, I'm wearing my favourite blush pink tutu. Because why wouldn't you?!

Pink Tutu Adventures in Prague: Part 1 - Journey and First Impressions

So, how did I get here? Well, as you know, my journey usually involves a touch of whimsy. I bid a fond farewell to the green fields and rolling hills of Derbyshire, a good old fashioned 'fare thee well' to my trusty pony, Pipsqueak, and jumped on a train to London. After a delightful breakfast of croissant and tea at my favourite cafe near St. Pancras Station (which is truly a masterpiece of Victorian architecture – I highly recommend it, it's got a wonderful, gothic vibe!) I caught the Eurostar train across the Channel. That journey is always a treat – imagine me, sipping a glass of champagne in first class, my pink tutu nestled alongside my luggage.

Arriving in Prague, I was instantly struck by the city’s charm. The station itself was magnificent - think ornate carvings, stunning chandeliers, and a grand staircase worthy of Cinderella's ball. I had already pre-booked a taxi to my hotel, but with the warm, fresh spring air and a whimsical feeling in my heart, I decided to indulge my love of wanderlust and hop on the local tram. It wasn't long before I was weaving my way through Prague's charming streets. It was then that I fell head over heels for this enchanting city!

A Ballet Lover's Paradise: Prague's Ballet Scene

My main reason for coming to Prague was for its famous ballet scene. You see, this city is truly a ballet lover's paradise. It boasts not only some of the most renowned ballet companies in the world, but also beautiful theatres with rich histories. This weekend, I'll be attending a performance at the iconic National Theatre, a building of absolute beauty that perfectly captures the spirit of the Czech Republic. The National Theatre has a particularly strong ballet legacy, and I can't wait to see the beauty of the performances. The stage itself looks breathtakingly beautiful - adorned with velvet curtains and plush seating.

Pink Tutu Fun: Discovering the City

But Prague isn’t all about ballet, my darlings! I've also been busy exploring the city's charming streets and taking in its magical atmosphere. There are beautiful bridges to explore, cobblestone squares bursting with life, and hidden cafes where I’ve been indulging in my passion for all things vintage and fashionably chic. Of course, my quest for the perfect pink tutu is never far from my mind. This week I stumbled across a boutique with some delightful tutu-worthy frills, and even more gorgeous, vintage pink accessories - a true dream come true. You know me, I can’t resist a little retail therapy, especially when I’m in such a vibrant and fashionable city!

I even discovered a ballet-themed vintage shop! My heart practically leaped with joy! Think old pointe shoes, worn ballet costumes, faded photographs of famous dancers – absolute treasures! It was like stepping into a world of vintage ballet glamour. They even had an authentic tutu from the 19th century, crafted from hand-stitched silk and delicate feathers - imagine that! I even had a try of some beautiful antique tutus - think of all the dancers who'd graced stages in these! It gave me a real appreciation for the history of this magnificent garment and for the women who’ve worn it before. It's the embodiment of elegance, femininity, and artistry, which of course I completely adore!

Prague’s Hidden Gems: The Best Kept Secrets

On my first day here, I stumbled across the most charming street art! It's everywhere - painted murals on walls, statues tucked in hidden alleys, and artistic interpretations on doorsteps. It made me realise that the whole city is truly an open air gallery, just waiting to be discovered!

Then, yesterday, I went for a romantic stroll along Charles Bridge, one of Prague's most iconic landmarks. The bridge is truly breathtaking - with stunning statues lining its length and breathtaking views of the city below. It was an ideal spot for enjoying the warm sunshine and taking in the magnificent views.

Fashion Inspiration: Pink Tutu on the Streets of Prague

It's no secret that Prague is a city with a unique sense of fashion. The women here have an effortless chic, their clothing reflecting their playful personalities and love of unique style. I've noticed that pastel colours, vibrant floral patterns and an overall carefree elegance are on trend, perfect for channeling that graceful, artistic vibe! A bit of delicate lace and some charming bows wouldn’t hurt either! And, of course, a little splash of pink – a touch of my signature colour!

My Prague Highlights: 9 April, 2025

To make my blog posts more fun, I’ve started making a note of what I get up to each day here! It’s been an exciting few days:

  • A morning ballet class in the beautiful Old Town Square: Feeling absolutely elegant after class.
  • Exploring the enchanting "Little Quarter": The streets are a visual feast!
  • Indulging in the best traditional Czech dumplings: I swear the taste is almost magical!
  • A beautiful afternoon spent in the breathtaking "Strahov Monastery": Think exquisite art and history with breathtaking views over Prague - a must-see.
  • Sampling delicious "trdelník", a Czech street food treat: Absolutely delightful! The sweet, crunchy pastry is like a sweet, warm hug from a charming local cafe. And just imagine it - I've even found one sprinkled with pink sugar!
  • Evening performance at the "National Theatre": The performance was magnificent - a stunning ballet extravaganza, and the atmosphere was magical. I got so lost in the graceful movements, the colourful costumes and the dramatic storytelling!

A Pink Tutu Evening: I am really looking forward to spending the evening soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of this enchanting city. I have plans to wander through the historic streets of Prague's Old Town and indulge in a bit of fashion exploration in some of its unique boutiques. I’m even going to explore one of Prague's vibrant rooftop bars for a cocktail under the stars.

What I've Learned about Prague:

This beautiful city, with its artistic heritage, is a ballet lover’s paradise. I’ve also been blown away by the warmth of the Czech people, their appreciation of artistry and their delightful way of life. I can already feel myself being swept away by the city's charm. I just love the way everything in Prague has a touch of whimsy, a touch of artfulness - making you want to stop, take in the beauty, and just simply smile!

The pink tutu is a reminder that life is an adventure, a celebration of our creativity and a joyful embrace of the beautiful, unique spirit within each and every one of us! And remember, it's never too late to embrace your inner ballerina. Just add a splash of pink!

*P.S. Did you know that in the 17th century the tutu evolved from the earlier farthingale skirts, which were huge, wide, and made from whalebone?! And that today's tutu, whether made of delicate tulle or fine silk, can come in a dazzling variety of colours?! I can’t resist, you know me, my favourite is a soft blush pink! *
