#PinkTutuPrague | Blog Post #1566 | www.pink-tutu.com | 11th June 2025
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm writing to you live from Prague, the city of a thousand spires and a million dream-like sights! Oh my gosh, you just have to see this place. Itās like a fairytale come to life! And whatās more, today is my day off from touring, so I thought I'd catch up on the happenings of this glorious week in this dazzling city.
Now, this is post number 1566 from my www.pink-tutu.com blog, and as always, I'm posting on a Wednesday to give you all a little dose of pink-tastic loveliness midweek. So pour yourselves a cuppa, settle in and let's take a peek at what Emma's been up toā¦
A Ride on the Rails: Chugging into Czech Magic!
Itās true! My journey to Prague was by train! I must tell you about the most divine vintage train journey from Dresden to Prague. My coach was beautifully appointed with luxurious plush seating and large windows that provided me with stunning panoramic views of the countryside whizzing by. Imagine the perfect vintage setting, with charming views and delicious warm croissants served on fine china! Pure bliss. It's a real adventure for all the senses and a truly glamorous way to travel, especially when you're wearing your finest pink tulle. I do have a confession to make though, I always travel with a miniature porcelain teacup and teapot so I can enjoy my afternoon cuppa with style! It makes all the difference in turning an ordinary train journey into a true tea-party experience. And speaking of tea parties, I think I'll need to pop into a vintage tearoom in Prague soon. If you know of any absolute gems, please do let me know in the comments below!
The Grand Entrance: Tutu and the Castle!
On arrival at Prague's central station, I knew this trip was destined to be extra special! First stop - the castle! Prague Castle is just magical - itās so historic and grand, with a charm that just makes you want to spin! Honestly, the sheer scale of the castle just took my breath away. It was like stepping into a medieval painting, and let me tell you, it made for the most beautiful backdrop to my tutu. Yes, that's right, the pink tulle tutu was making a grand appearance in the heart of Prague, much to the delight of all the tourists who passed by.
I had so much fun wandering the castle grounds. There was such an incredible atmosphere and such a feeling of history all around. I imagined all the ballerinas who would have performed here centuries ago, twirling amongst the courtyards and dreaming of their own glorious performances. What better way to feel connected to the city's history than to twirl myself? And, Iām not shy! You might just catch me prancing with grace, or possibly an off-balance trip! No one is immune to the odd little trip-up in lifeās waltz! All I ask is you laugh with me as I learn to twirl and sway, sometimes with more style, sometimes with more spills!
Tutu Shop Therapy!
Oh my gosh, the amount of shopping I did in Prague was epic! And by epic, I mean I couldn't resist trying on literally everything in every single store. And my absolute favourite? A vintage clothing shop nestled on a quiet cobblestone street, packed full of elegant gowns, vintage jackets and, drumroll please⦠the most stunning collection of feathered boas you've ever seen! My heart skipped a beat. Honestly, I practically did a little dance when I saw the rainbow-hued selection - peacock green, fiery orange, rich plum - my inner ballerina was delighted.
I had to get one, of course! And guess what colour it was? You'll never guess⦠a bright, luscious shade of pink! I immediately paired it with my trusty pink tutu for a double dose of fun and, as if by magic, I felt even more twirl-worthy. Prague was just making me sparkle! It was as if my pink tulle and the fairytale backdrop had a magical synergy! You know, there really is something so empowering about wearing a tutu in a historic place. It gives you that feeling of confidence and joy that comes with being totally yourself. It was an absolute triumph and I knew it was the perfect start to my time in Prague.
The Magic of Prague's Theatre Scene
And you know me, it wouldn't be a proper trip without some ballet! Oh, the National Theatre was breathtaking. Honestly, I nearly cried tears of joy when I saw the building. It was absolutely spectacular and looked even better in person than the photographs! Just looking at the grandeur of the building made me want to pirouette down the steps. I know, I know, a little too much tutus, but can you blame me? My heart beats with every dance!
Now, Prague has such a rich history of dance, theatre, music and ballet and it just seems to echo through the streets and fill the very air of the city with magic and passion. The atmosphere inside the theatre was so enchanting. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. You could feel the energy in the air. Even though I had no tickets for the show tonight, just looking at this stunning place brought my own inner-ballet into the spotlight, as I tried out my new moves in the echoing hallways of the theatre. I couldn't help but channel my inner ballerina and imagine the graceful movements of the dancers that had performed there.
And Donāt Forget the Dance Lessons!
A dance lesson, well that's a given when Iām travelling. After my delightful visit to the National Theatre, I was positively bursting with a desire to learn the ways of the local dance scene! Pragueās charming old town, its cafes and traditional dance studios, seemed to beckon me forward, encouraging my soul to embrace the magic of this beautiful place.
Youāll never guess what happened! Right by the castle in Pragueās charming Old Town, I stumbled across a beautiful traditional ballet studio ā I swear it was meant to be! The studio had those gorgeous high ceilings and huge windows. You could literally feel the elegance of a bygone era radiating from its every corner.
Of course, my pink tulle came along for the journey! You simply can't leave your best friend behind when youāre on the hunt for the best dance studios in Prague. But letās be real, itās not about getting a new skill, itās about connecting with the rhythm of a new city, experiencing its cultural heartbeat, all through the magic of a good old fashioned dance! It is the very best way to embrace the local culture and connect with the very soul of a city, as I twirled my way through a waltz! And honestly, this dance studio delivered a real āfeel goodā energy ā you know, the sort that brings back happy childhood memories. You know what Iām talking about - like the thrill of slipping on a brand new pair of dancing shoes or twirling to the music on your favourite gramophone, or, let's face it, you could never be far away from those dreams!
The instructor, Jana, was truly lovely and was as excited to welcome me as I was to join her class. I'll never forget our lesson - she taught me all these gorgeous traditional Czech folk dances. Let me tell you, the footwork and rhythms were complex and challenging - but so rewarding! They were so much fun! As a ballet dancer, itās so rewarding to connect with different cultures and explore the stories they tell through movement, music, and costumes. We also discussed the evolution of ballet, sharing our own thoughts about tutu history. And that, darlings, led me onto the biggest surprise of my trip so farā¦
Oh My Gosh, The Most Gorgeous Pink Tutu Ever!
Jana took me to this gorgeous vintage fabric shop on a street, called CeletnĆ” Street. There, I met with a divine elderly woman who told me stories of sewing costumes for famous opera singers for nearly fifty years! As she told her story, I thought, this shop needs to be included in a movie! I know, it's a bit clichĆ© but really this tiny shop with all its magical costumes and textiles really brought my world together! But honestly, the true highlight was her telling me all about how the dance styles in Prague had changed through the decades. The most fascinating detail - her first pair of tutus was a soft, flowing, salmon pink that was so elegant! Now, she shared that pink is considered a shade for the fortunate and good fortune in the Czech Republic! And wouldnāt you know, her passion for her craft rubbed off on me!
While in Prague, I bought the most stunning piece of pale pink fabric from this magical shop. This shop was a treasure trove! It was almost impossible to leave without buying every single piece of lace and brocade ā I have a whole collection back at my Derbyshire cottage! But back to that lovely pink tulle⦠This material was simply breathtaking, and so beautiful! As soon as I felt it, I knew I had to make it into my own signature āpink tutu Prague creationā which, in true pink tutu fashion, will feature a shimmering pink sequined layer and delicate pink ostrich feathers. It'll be the ultimate statement piece and a gorgeous tribute to Prague and its incredible dance heritage. Oh, and itāll look divine against this beautiful architecture! Iāll share photos of the final creation in the coming weeks - donāt worry, you can watch my story on www.pink-tutu.com
