A Girl, Her Tutu, and a Train Ticket
As a self-proclaimed tutu enthusiast and bonafide lover of all things pink, I'm always seeking adventures that feed my passion for dance, fashion, and the finer things in life. This week, I boarded a charming little train, filled with the delicious anticipation of a journey that would soon lead me to the cobbled streets and romantic bridges of Prague. The rhythmic clatter of the train wheels felt like the beat of a waltz, setting my heart soaring in excitement.
My journey was sponsored by a performance I gave last month in my home county of Derbyshire. The beautiful people of Buxton, with their love of ballet and appreciation for the perfect shade of blush pink, were most generous. Their kind donation has enabled me to fulfill one of my life's dreams - to visit the magnificent city of Prague!
Pink Tutu Finds Her Feet
Prague welcomed me with open arms and even wider smiles. I immediately fell under its spell. Stepping onto the Charles Bridge, I felt as if I was transported to a fairytale. The ornate buildings with their gables, towers, and whimsical spires, all gleaming in the golden afternoon sun, gave me a real "Sleeping Beauty" vibe. My heart skipped a beat - a rhythmic pulse in sync with the heartbeat of this enchanting city.
My first stop had to be the National Theatre. Now, this is no ordinary theatre. It's a testament to architectural beauty, and I can tell, a lover of all things elegant and refined. As I strolled by, my head whipped back and forth, soaking up the majestic exterior. It reminded me of some of the glorious theatres in my own hometown - a feeling of pride and kinship washed over me.
Pink Tutu Goes Shopping!
No visit to Prague would be complete without a serious foray into its fabulous fashion scene! Oh my, darling, where do I begin? From the high-end boutiques along Pařížská Street to the hidden gems nestled amongst the cobbled side streets, this city is a paradise for the discerning shopaholic. The Czech Republic is famed for its glass artistry, so naturally I was drawn to its exquisitely crafted crystal jewellery. The sparkle, the shimmer, it simply begs to be twirled with a pink tutu!
Pink Tutu Takes in the Culture
There is no shortage of beautiful art, music, and theatre to be explored in this enchanting city. From the haunting melodies of the Baroque composer Antonín Dvořák to the captivating art collections in the National Gallery, I felt a rush of inspiration that I know will be reflected in my upcoming performances.
Tonight, I have a delightful treat in store - a performance of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake at the charming Municipal House. This architectural gem, built in the early 20th century, is known for its stunning Art Nouveau interiors. I am positively thrilled!
Prague, You Steal My Heart
My darling, this city has stolen my heart, and I suspect, my spirit, too! The waltz of cobblestones under my pink tutu shoes, the twinkle of fairy lights at twilight, and the gentle melody of Prague’s heartbeat have cast their spell on me. It’s a city that has a captivating story to tell, with a captivating rhythm and beauty that resonates deep within the soul.
