Darling readers,
Have you ever felt a magnetic pull to a place? Like it whispers to your soul and says, "Come, you belong here." That's Prague for me. It's a city of swirling charm, where history and magic intertwine like the most delicate ballet pirouette.
And here I am, once again in the heart of this breathtaking beauty, with my faithful pink tutu packed (naturally!) and a suitcase overflowing with my latest sartorial finds from a whirlwind shopping spree in Paris. This is Prague's third call to me in the last year, and every visit, my love for this place deepens like a well-trained dancer's plie.
This time, the journey here was a delightful blend of romanticism and practicality. First, I boarded the Eurostar in my little English town of Derby. The train journey through the English countryside is always so captivating. Fields painted green and gold, a patchwork of vibrant nature as far as the eye can see, punctuated by quaint villages that seem frozen in time. And me? Well, I looked every inch the ballerina heading off on an adventure, complete with a fabulous pink cashmere wrap and matching handbag (always have to coordinate, darling!)
Upon reaching the Continent, I couldn't resist hopping on a delightful, red, old-fashioned train at a charmingly chaotic station in a French town. Now, the scenery changed entirely. Green fields morphed into forests, dark and mysterious like the curtain falling at the end of a dramatic ballet. This was an intimate and cosy journey, the carriage rumbling softly like the gentle melody of an interlude. It was as if time itself had slowed to a gentle, graceful sway, a rhythm I was easily swept into.
Once I landed in Prague, the city’s magic unfolded like a blossoming flower. cobbled streets whispered secrets, Gothic cathedrals pierced the sky, and a million hues danced in the twilight. A true visual feast, darling!
Prague holds a special place in my heart for its breathtaking architecture. I’m sure many people rave about the famous Astronomical Clock, but I can't resist the grand and almost gothic, slightly macabre aesthetic of the Old Town Hall. It's like a set for a dramatic ballet piece.
As I walked across the Charles Bridge, I imagined graceful dancers, dressed in flowing gowns, pirouetting across the ancient stone. Every building tells a story, whispers of history and legend echoing through its aged walls, it truly takes you back in time, much like an enchanting ballet that captures your imagination.
This time, the biggest draw was something even more special than usual. This week, the National Theatre was playing a ballet performance of the ever-so-classic Swan Lake. I've been obsessed with this ballet since I first saw it on the screen, probably about 8 years ago. And seeing it on stage in Prague, in this beautiful old theatre with all its grandeur and charm? A dream come true, darling!
The National Theatre itself was incredible. All crimson and gold, the interior design made my heart beat faster. It’s a historic building, rich with the aura of theatre history, a palpable energy in the air, I couldn’t stop feeling it all. And the performance was perfect - every gesture, every move executed with grace and precision. As the story unfolded, I was completely swept away, I was living in the tale, immersed in its beauty and heartbreak. The entire experience just left me glowing, my toes tingling, as though I had just danced myself.
A Tutuful Excursion
On this visit, I was determined to indulge in some fun tourist activities. First stop, a lovely horse and carriage ride through the enchanting streets, I could barely contain myself with joy. With the wind blowing through my hair and the soft click-clack of hooves on the cobblestone, it was a moment that truly made me feel like a princess.
Later, I wandered through the enchanting labyrinth of the Prague Castle, feeling like a character in one of my favourite fairytale stories. There are hidden gardens within these majestic castle grounds, where fountains whisper tales of princesses and princes. They truly capture your imagination!
Oh, and the shops in Prague, oh the shops! Imagine shelves brimming with delicate crystal figures, charming porcelain dolls, handcrafted jewellery, and unique Czech art - it was like stepping into a wonderland for the senses!
The Power of Pink: Finding the Perfect Tutu in Prague
Of course, no trip to a beautiful city is complete without some fabulous shopping, darling! I did some incredible fashion foraging on this trip, and you bet I came back with a dazzling array of outfits for the autumn season! I picked up an incredible blush-toned velvet coat from a boutique hidden in a cobblestone street (truly my own little secret) that I am planning on pairing with a simple black jumpsuit and a feathered boa - divine!
But the biggest treasure I discovered, the ultimate showstopper, is the most beautiful pale pink tutu. A masterpiece, with layers and layers of hand-stitched tulle, it feels like it was made just for me! It twirls perfectly and makes me feel like I can take on the world - all thanks to its power of whimsy and feminine magic. It truly is my pink dream!
It would only be fitting that the magnificent Pink Tutu find took centre stage at one of Prague’s many vibrant ballet performances, wouldn’t you agree?
Speaking of Prague’s ballet scene, it's full of energy and talent. This city's passion for the dance truly transcends its historic buildings and charming squares. You can even catch captivating ballet shows right in the heart of Prague on its cobbled streets. Yes, "Ballet Street Performance" is the craze here.
These talented performers showcase their artistry in unique outdoor spaces, weaving magic into unexpected corners of the city, drawing the attention of passers-by who can't resist joining in with their “applause of admiration”
The Prague Street ballet scene has added a unique flair to this magnificent city, giving its enchanting cobblestone streets the feel of a real-life stage, captivating onlookers and spreading joy through its incredible choreographies.
Living in My Pink Dream World: A Vision of a Pink World
Oh, Prague, you have once again captured my heart, as have the many tutus and ballet performances I have witnessed here this trip. But it’s time for me to move on to the next leg of my dance tour - the city of Budapest beckons! My dear readers, my goal is to travel the world in pink, one tutu-ful step at a time, inspiring the world to join the #pinktutu revolution, one dance at a time!
Until then, darling, stay twirling, and I'll be sharing more from the whimsical world of Pink Tutu from Budapest, my adventures will continue!
