Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Wonder (Blog Post #1576)

Wednesday, 20th August 2025

Hello, my darlings! 🩰✨

I’m back, from the magical city of Prague! I’ve got so much to tell you, I don’t even know where to start. It’s been an absolutely whirlwind of wonder, filled with breathtaking architecture, delicious food (oh, the goulash!), and the most incredible ballet experience I’ve had in a long, long time.

Travel by Train (And Pony!)

First things first, my journey to Prague. Of course, I wouldn't dream of travelling any other way than by train. It was such a delightful experience - gazing out of the window at the changing scenery, sipping a hot chocolate, and daydreaming about my adventures in Prague.

Once I arrived, I took a very fancy pony and carriage ride, feeling like I'd stepped right out of a fairytale. Honestly, I'm convinced it was the most fashionable way to see the sights of the city, particularly while wearing my vibrant, sunshine-yellow tulle tutu (it really did pop against the cobbled streets!).

Tutu History and Shopping Spree

After settling in, the first thing I did was a little research. You know how much I love learning about the history of tutus. And Prague, my dears, has such a rich ballet history!

Turns out, there was even a theatre built for ballet in the early 19th century, just for the city's nobility. They were a fashionable lot, I tell you! And wouldn't you know it, it's still going strong, with performances nearly every night!

Speaking of fashion, I simply couldn't resist the allure of the local shops. I found the most amazing pink silk scarf with embroidered floral details, a little black dress for evenings out, and of course, a stunning, cerulean blue tutu with an elegant train that flows beautifully as you twirl (just picture it, my lovelies!). I absolutely couldn’t resist bringing back a couple of Czech glass beads for my tutu collection too. They sparkle like little diamonds!

Prague Ballet: An Enchanting Evening

The real highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the ballet performance. The Prague National Theatre hosted “Swan Lake,” and I was utterly captivated!

It wasn't just the beautifully executed ballet itself (although the principal ballerina, I believe her name was Katerina, was incredible, I nearly cried!), but the sheer elegance and beauty of the whole theatre itself.

There was an air of timeless magic as the music began, and the chandeliers shimmered in the warm, soft glow of the stage lighting. It was absolutely transporting.

During intermission, I popped into the theatre bar, which felt straight out of the 19th century, with grand paintings and mahogany furniture. It was perfect for a little ballet chatter with fellow fans, swapping stories and excitedly planning for the next act.

From Theatre to Streets

After the final curtain call (which received a well-deserved standing ovation, might I add), I felt quite peckish. You see, dancing is exhausting work! But in the most delightful way possible, of course!

I strolled around the enchanting Old Town Square, and found a small cafe tucked away in a corner. I enjoyed the most delicious traditional goulash I've ever had! (It wasn't quite as dainty as I'm used to, but it was certainly worth it!) And I even managed to snag a few of their beautiful, ornate gingerbread cookies (not at all the usual type, my dears!), as a sweet reminder of my trip.

I walked by the Charles Bridge that night, the lights reflected in the Vltava River like a million stars. I twirled around and felt the cool breeze lift my new blue tutu. The moonlight shone on its sparkling details. It was just...pure magic.

Prague, Farewell

The time has come to say goodbye, but not before a few more memories:

  • I learned how to make a delicious Czech pastry called “trdelník”. Turns out it's quite the family affair! You need to twist a piece of dough and bake it slowly over an open flame. Mine looked a little… creative, let’s say, but it was utterly delightful nonetheless!
  • I spent a morning taking ballet class at one of the oldest dance studios in the city. The atmosphere was amazing. I loved feeling that sense of community amongst the other dancers, both students and professionals. And who knows, I might even have inspired one or two to add a touch of pink to their attire!

And, of course, I explored every cobblestone alleyway I could find, savouring every minute detail of the city's unique charm. I even popped into the National Gallery to admire some truly stunning artworks. But let's be honest, it was the sculptures that really caught my eye – those magnificent ballerinas, frozen in graceful poses. Truly, art imitating life, my darlings!

I feel so incredibly inspired after my trip to Prague. The city's blend of rich history, vibrant culture, and undeniable charm has truly captured my heart. And, as always, it's given me even more ideas for tutu designs! 😉

Remember, my darlings, never stop dreaming. Keep your head held high, your hearts full of passion, and always remember the power of a little bit of pink to make the world a brighter, more beautiful place!

Until next time,

Emma 💖

P.S. I'll be posting photos of my trip on the Pink Tutu website, so stay tuned!

P.P.S. If you're ever in Prague, I highly recommend taking a ballet class! Who knows, you might discover your own hidden talents! 💖
