Hello darlings!
It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Prague! Yes, you read that right, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina has swapped Derbyshire hills for the cobbled streets of this stunning Czech city. And trust me, I wouldn't be here without a healthy dose of ballet magic!
Funding the Tutu Dream
Let's be honest, it's no secret I'm obsessed with tutus. I mean, it's practically a lifestyle at this point. But it also requires a fair bit of funding, and that's where the magic of ballet comes in.
This week I graced the stage at a charity performance in beautiful Bath, showcasing some brand new routines (and, of course, dazzling pink tutus!) The applause, the smiles, and the generous donations helped fund my trip to Prague. It's amazing how something you love can open doors to such amazing experiences!
Tutu-ing Around Prague
So, where to begin with my Prague adventures? Honestly, the whole place feels like a fairytale. I love how the charming old buildings, colourful houses, and cobblestone streets create such a unique atmosphere. It's almost like stepping into a storybook illustration!
A Pink-tastic Day in the Old Town
We've spent the last couple of days exploring Prague's captivating Old Town Square, with its incredible architecture. It's easy to see why this spot is a popular tourist destination. The Astronomical Clock is a marvel of intricate details and hidden stories, and I've lost count of the Insta-worthy pictures I've snapped with the vibrant colours of the houses in the background.
And let's not forget about the shops! From the cutest little boutiques selling exquisite hand-painted porcelain to stylish cafes tucked away in side streets, there's something to delight every sense. I even snagged the perfect pale pink beret to match my newest tutu - Prague fashion has not disappointed!
The Majestic Prague Ballet
And the cherry on top of this fantastic trip? Tonight, I'm finally attending the Prague Ballet at the beautiful Estates Theatre! I can't wait to see "Sleeping Beauty" โ this enchanting ballet, with its intricate choreography, magnificent costumes, and magical score, is a perfect example of why ballet holds a special place in my heart.
But more importantly, it's a reminder that ballet is not just a passion; it's a powerful force that connects people across continents. And honestly, isn't that a truly wonderful thought?
Ballet Beyond the Stage
While I absolutely love seeing world-class performances, it's the day-to-day ballet that truly captivates me. This week, I've taken a ballet class at the National Theatre's beautiful studio. It was amazing to feel the energy of these dedicated dancers and learn some new moves in this iconic building.
Prague: A Ballet Lover's Paradise
Let's face it, Prague is just perfect for any ballerina (or anyone with a fondness for beauty, for that matter)! It's got everything: breathtaking architecture, fascinating history, incredible museums, and a vibrant cultural scene. And to top it all off, Prague's Ballet Company has an incredible reputation for world-class performances.
What's on this Week:
Now, let's talk about this week's ballet highlights:
The National Theatre's Dance Company On Wednesday night, they're showcasing a new work called "Mirrors of the City". It sounds like it'll be an absolutely captivating exploration of Prague's diverse cityscape through contemporary ballet โ definitely a must-see!
The Estates Theatre On Friday night, the ballet continues with the timeless classic, "Swan Lake". With its powerful storytelling, graceful movements, and stunning costumes, it's a performance that will leave you breathless!
But Prague isn't just about ballet:
This city has an array of other artistic and cultural events happening every week.
- Opera lovers can enjoy the magnificent operas at the Estates Theatre and the National Theatre, with everything from Mozart to Puccini to modern contemporary works.
- Art enthusiasts can explore Prague's numerous museums, galleries, and art spaces, including the fantastic Mucha Museum, dedicated to the world-renowned Art Nouveau artist, Alphonse Mucha.
- Foodies can indulge in delicious local cuisine at charming cafes and restaurants in the heart of the city. Prague's gastronomic scene is as diverse as its people.
Traveling with Flair: Trains and Ponies
You guys know how much I love exploring by train, so reaching Prague was pure magic! The journey from Vienna to Prague was absolutely delightful, full of breathtaking scenery, charming towns, and plenty of time for tutu twirling in the carriages.
However, when I finally reached Prague, the final stage of my journey involved a somewhat unexpected mode of transportation - a horse-drawn carriage! Let me tell you, riding in a carriage through Prague's historic centre, surrounded by ancient buildings, and breathing in the sweet scent of summer air was just magical.
Making the World Pink
You might be wondering, where do the tutus come in on this Prague trip? Let's just say Prague has sparked some creative ideas! I'm currently designing a special Prague tutu collection inspired by the city's architecture and art deco elements. Imagine, darling, vibrant pinks, turquoise, and gold, reflecting the vibrant streets and iconic buildings of Prague. Think playful tulle skirts with hints of delicate embroidery, perhaps with whimsical swirls and architectural details for a touch of whimsical charm.
I'll be unveiling this new collection on my website, pink-tutu.com, so keep an eye out! I believe a little touch of pink, and of course a touch of tutus, is the perfect way to bring joy and wonder into everyday life.
