Prague's Pink Promise: A Tutu-tiful Adventure (Post #1586)

Hello darlings, and welcome to another dazzlingly pink week on Pink Tutu, your ultimate source for all things tutus and travel. Today, we’re stepping right into the heart of Prague, a city that’s not just brimming with history, architecture and charm, but also an absolute ballet bonanza! This city has completely stolen my heart (and maybe even my favourite pink feather boa!), so let's dive in, shall we?

The journey itself was an absolute dream. A train journey straight from the rolling green hills of Derbyshire – nothing quite beats the feeling of a gentle sway as the scenery flashes by, particularly when it's topped off with a delicious cuppa and a good book (this week, I’m completely engrossed in "The Secret History" of tutus, and believe me, there are secrets!) It's been ages since I travelled by train, and I forgot how peaceful it is, a million miles away from the chaos of air travel.

Prague welcomed me with open arms (and open shops - did I mention this city is a haven for vintage tutus?!). After checking in to my perfectly pink-hued hotel room – you know I have to stay on brand! – I embarked on a walking tour of the Old Town Square, where I nearly got lost in a whimsical wonderland of cobbled streets, towering spires, and colourful architecture.

As much as I adore the beauty of the city, nothing quite compares to the energy of a theatre, and let me tell you, Prague’s National Theatre, home to the Czech National Ballet, is a dream. This magnificent building, with its neo-renaissance splendour and the elegant, whimsical air of Prague, just whispers about beautiful, romantic and graceful stories being told.

And how does a pink tutu enthusiast navigate a city filled with historical buildings, architectural marvels and museums? A hop on a horse-drawn carriage of course! This city is like a fairy tale brought to life – and what’s a fairytale without a majestic steed?! I must confess, I found myself dreaming of an entire troupe of ballet dancers arriving at the theatre by carriage, all dressed in their best pink tutus!

But the reason for my Prague trip? Well, darling, it wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu blog without a touch of ballet! This week, I’m excited to be attending "The Nutcracker", performed by the legendary Czech National Ballet! Every performance is unique, and I always find myself lost in the magical story – this particular production promises a breathtaking combination of dazzling costumes, exquisite music, and a timeless fairytale that truly captures the spirit of Christmas. I can’t wait to soak up the beauty and grandeur of Prague's theatre, and then share my favourite moments with you all!

Now, Prague isn’t just about graceful dance steps and charming architecture - it’s a foodie haven, too! The local markets are a sight to behold, brimming with delicious fresh fruit, fluffy pastries, and mouth-watering traditional dishes. From steaming bowls of hearty goulash to delicate Czech dumplings, the aromas alone are enough to make you hungry! And let’s not forget the cakes. I indulged in the most exquisite pistachio and rose-water cake - oh my, it was pure decadence, served with a dollop of fluffy cream. Naturally, I paired my sweet treats with a lovely cup of pink grapefruit tea, because let's be honest, pink is always the right choice!

Afternoons are spent discovering Prague’s hidden gems, tucked away on tiny alleyways that wind through the heart of the city. From the charming Astronomical Clock to the breathtaking views from the Prague Castle, every corner holds a new treasure to uncover.

And, of course, I've been adding to my tutu collection - this city has a treasure trove of vintage finds and modern beauties. Imagine my joy when I discovered a hand-painted, silk tutu with shimmering pink and lilac accents - absolutely perfect for the elegant evening that awaits me at the National Theatre!

Speaking of evenings, let's talk about Prague's nightlife! I simply had to indulge in the classic experience of enjoying traditional music in one of Prague’s numerous traditional pubs. And yes, you guessed it, even the interiors of these pubs were absolutely bursting with traditional charm and, dare I say it, a hint of fairytale magic! But no fairy tale is complete without a happy ending, and that's what my stay here has been!

Prague has not just become a pink-hued dream come true, but it's truly lived up to its reputation as the "City of a Hundred Spires," a magical, enchanting and elegant city with heart!

Before I leave you with all of the lovely photographs of my Prague adventures – there’s just one little question… Have I tempted you to take a pink-tutu filled journey to Prague yourself?

The Pink Tutu travels on...

Stay tuned for next Wednesday's blog post, and don't forget to share your pink tutu adventures!

Until then, darlings!
