Hello my darling tutu-twirling darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, a city that's definitely embracing my 'everything-pink' philosophy! This week's adventure has been a whirlwind of culture, shopping, and delicious sugary treats - and, of course, the highlight: The National Theatre!
Oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe how stunning the building is. Think soaring ceilings, intricate detailing, and enough velvet to make even a queen blush! The sheer scale of it had me doing little pirouettes in the lobby!
But first, let's rewind the clock a little...
A Dash of Derbyshire in the Czech Republic
My journey began as it usually does - a gentle rocking on the train from Derbyshire to London, where I was meeting my wonderful (and equally stylish) bestie, Lily. It felt like stepping into a storybook - think quaint tea shops, fluffy clouds, and a slight whiff of something floral, thanks to Lily's heavenly perfume!
London is always a joy - the people, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the shopping! We made a beeline for Liberty's - you know, that magnificent department store, all Tudor timber and vibrant prints. I snagged a gorgeous, floaty lilac skirt - it has little pink butterflies all over it, darling, absolutely perfect for the Parisian feel of Prague.
Lily even persuaded me to go for a spot of tea - she knows I'm a teapot tragic - and I even indulged in a scrumptious cake, dusted with powdered sugar! It was all so deliciously vintage and quaint - it almost felt like a scene from an old Jane Austen film. Oh, and you wouldn't believe what I found! Tucked away in the back of the antique store opposite the tea shop was a real vintage tutu! I snagged it for a steal! It’s pale pink with layers of chiffon and has this adorable little butterfly on the front.
The Romance of Travel By Train
Once we'd savoured London, it was time to continue our grand adventure – on a beautiful crimson train to Prague! We sat by the window, watching the rolling hills blur past, sharing delicious picnic snacks (lots of dainty finger sandwiches, darling, it's just not a trip without them!), and, of course, reminiscing about all the pink-tutu moments to come! (A side note: the journey was also exceptionally kind to my tutu - it survived with barely a crease!)
Prague: A fairytale city...with pink, of course!
We arrived in Prague, and the city just swept me away! The moment we stepped out of the station, I could sense the romantic fairytale charm! It was like stepping into one of my favourite illustrated books – a mishmash of elegant buildings, charming cobblestone streets, and enchanting bridges. And everywhere we turned, it was pink!
From the pink-hued pastel buildings to the blossoming cherry trees – I felt like a little ballerina in a magical world! We even discovered this adorable little pink bakery, with a delightful collection of pastries shaped like tutus! (You can imagine my delight - they even tasted like sugar and sunshine! Oh, I took photos, of course!)
Ballet & Beauty
Now for the star of the show – the ballet! Oh, it was sublime, darling! The National Theatre is simply magnificent. I took in a performance of "Swan Lake" – it's my all-time favourite – and it felt like magic! The ballerinas, with their fluid grace, the intricate sets, and the sweeping music – it all left me speechless!
We also popped into a couple of boutique shops, where I managed to pick up a gorgeous little velvet hair band – a rich burgundy colour with a delicate pink flower accent – to perfectly match my new vintage tutu!
More pink-tutu moments…
The day culminated in a romantic little stroll through the Old Town Square. The clock tower played its sweet music, while the locals were going about their lives - the hustle and bustle mixed with a gentle, dreamy ambiance! I even spotted a couple dancing under the starry night sky - they had a beautiful vintage carousel playing romantic tunes. It really reminded me of the magic and beauty in everyday moments!
The most wonderful thing is, everywhere we went, people were just so friendly and accommodating. It's as if Prague itself was embracing my pink tutu, and it has made the whole trip feel just as wonderful as my sparkly little ballet slippers! (A little insider tip – be sure to check out the pink candyfloss at the end of the bridge! It's pink perfection!)
Next Wednesday...
The journey continues – with more ballet, more shopping, and more fun, of course! Stay tuned, darling! My pink tutu awaits more adventures.
Till next week, keep twirling!

*(P.S: Have you visited the amazing online museum I discovered? It features the world’s most extensive collection of historical tutus. The photos are divine – they had me literally squealing with delight. Just pop on over to www.tutomuseum.org!) *
