Greetings from Prague, my dearest Tutu-istas! It's Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing travel companion, ready to whisk you away on a whirlwind adventure to the heart of Czech beauty! This week, I've swapped the cobbled streets of Derbyshire for the cobblestones of Prague, and trust me, the only thing prettier than the architecture are the tutu options!
It's a bit chilly out here, but not nearly enough to dampen the vibrant colours and festive spirit of this fairytale city. My pink tutu's practically glowing under the Christmas lights that festoon the old town square - speaking of Christmas, I've got my eye on a charming little market nestled beside the Charles Bridge with its hand-crafted decorations and enticing gingerbread stalls. Perfect for picking up a souvenir for the loved ones back home - even my granny, bless her heart, loves a good gingerbread heart (she says it's her way of making sure I'm not too adventurous in these foreign parts!).
Train Travel: A Tutu-tastic Adventure
Arriving in Prague was a dream, especially after the scenic journey by train. Oh, the joys of European train travel! It was such a peaceful experience. As I settled into my comfy seat with a cuppa, I couldn't resist a quick Instagram selfie. You know I love a good outfit pic, especially in this delightful powder pink tulle skirt! It was just the perfect backdrop for a little 'gram with a dash of Parisian chic and a whole lotta pink-powered whimsy!
My Tutu Love Affair
Speaking of outfits, the pink tutu is just... EVERYTHING. It's a whimsical whisper of tulle, a dance-ready masterpiece that says "I'm ready to twirl and delight!" And I truly believe every woman should have a pink tutu in her wardrobe. It's not just a fashion statement; it's an attitude! It's a reminder that you can be beautiful, confident, and playful - all at once. I dare say, a tutu is a reminder of our inner child.
Now, as I write this, my heart is still doing a happy little pirouette from seeing "The Nutcracker" at the National Theatre! This grand building was a spectacle in itself - grand arches, ornate interiors, and gilded staircases that would make Cinderella herself feel a little bit star-struck. But, I mean, we all know it's all about the performance! I swear, every twirl and leap, every pas de deux, was nothing short of magical.
A Trip Down Memory Lane: Ballet's Past & Present
My love affair with ballet is pretty much an epic romance novel - there's a twist on every page. Of course, Prague's ballet scene had to be explored. The National Theatre's archives offer a peek into the history of ballet in this beautiful city. I was captivated by costumes from the 18th century, their silks and velvets practically whispering stories of ballerinas from long ago. It's amazing how the elegance of those early styles echoes in contemporary ballet today, even in the bold and modern costumes that are seen on stage.
Prague's Dance Floor: From the Ballet Stage to the Streets
Let's be real, dancing isn't just a pastime - it's a way of life! And Prague has the rhythm to prove it. This city just breathes with a pulse - the cobblestone streets seem to encourage twirling, the riverbank calls for graceful strolls, and the street musicians invite you to move to their soulful melodies. I, of course, responded to the call by wearing my favourite blush pink tutu while doing a little improv ballet class. There was a very talented mime that I got to perform a quick act with outside the Charles Bridge... you can bet I'll be posting it to my YouTube soon! And on Wednesday, I'll be returning to the Old Town Square, as I've been invited to perform in a mini-ballets flash mob. So many people will be getting a touch of the "pink tutu magic" I promised in my post on "pink tutus as a social revolution".
* Shopping Spree!*
Oh, you know a visit to Prague wouldn't be complete without a little retail therapy. My inner ballerina is practically screaming "Shop, shop, shop!" And you can bet your bottom dollar (or your bottom zloty!) that I've found the most adorable shops with just the right blend of elegant Prague charm and modern European style. I already scored a stunning antique-looking velvet scarf, perfect for adding a dash of elegance to my pink tutu, and found an utterly charming hand-painted teapot in a blush pink, naturally. This is one stop shop, as Prague offers all the vintage flair with the most delicate antique stores and markets; it is impossible not to get at least one vintage find that is both quirky and pretty!
The Pink Tutu Message: Spreading the Love (One Tutu at a Time)
Remember, my Tutu-istas, I believe every day should feel like a fairy tale. You deserve a pinch of magic and a heaping spoonful of fun. The Pink Tutu Movement is more than just a fashion statement. It's about letting your light shine, embracing your playful side, and never losing that childlike wonder that reminds you to dream big and twirl with abandon!
And my little darlings, this isn't even half the story! Come back next week for more of my pink-tastic adventures in Prague - I promise to share all my favourite cafes, my explorations of Prague's enchanting castle, and of course, more glorious outfit pics! And don't forget to keep those pink tutus spinning!
