Prague: The City of a Thousand Pink Tutus (Blog Post #1667)

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the magical city of Prague! Honestly, I never thought a place could be so charming, so historic, and so pink all at the same time!

This week, I wanted to share all the fabulous details of my recent adventure in this stunning European gem. And naturally, where better to begin than with the gorgeousness that is the Pink Tutu Prague ballet company! I’d heard so much about this enchanting troupe, known for their captivating performances and, of course, their exquisite tutus. Let me tell you, their tutus are truly something else! Imagine delicate layers of tulle, shimmering in every shade of pink you can imagine, swirling and twirling on stage. They even had some special sparkly ones for their finale – divine!

My love affair with ballet has been going on since I was a little girl in Derbyshire. Remember how I told you about that time I wore a tutu to the school Christmas play? That's when the tutu magic truly began for me. I still have that old, sparkly, pink number hanging in my wardrobe!

And while the ballet was truly phenomenal, I'm just a little bit obsessed with the city of Prague itself. Let’s get into the juicy details, shall we?

A Whirlwind of Prague Delights

After a scenic train journey (complete with a delightful lunch featuring my all-time favourite, pink lemonade), we arrived in Prague on a crisp spring afternoon. We hopped off the train right at the foot of Prague Castle, the towering, fairytale-esque castle that dominates the city. Just the sight of it took my breath away, it was absolutely majestic!

Walking around, we strolled through charming cobbled streets, where quaint cafes offered steaming cups of coffee (perfect for a ballerina in need of caffeine!), and every corner offered a new Instagrammable opportunity. Trust me, you will find so many good photos on your trip to Prague! The whole city has a magical atmosphere, with those stunning gothic cathedrals and bridges bathed in the warm golden glow of the setting sun. I actually think I took more pictures here than anywhere else I've visited so far – maybe because of all the cute, colourful houses, shops and cafés, which I have to say looked absolutely perfect through my trusty pink-tinted camera lens.

Of course, no trip to Prague is complete without indulging in some of their local delicacies. We stopped at a delightful cafe on Old Town Square, and enjoyed the most amazing goulash I have ever tasted – absolutely delicious, with its rich, deep flavors and warming spices! And I have to say, their famous “Trdelník” – a traditional Czech pastry – were like a dream come true, filled with delicious cinnamon sugar, the scent alone was heavenly! You’ve simply got to try one. (Bonus tip – they are best enjoyed warm, freshly baked from the street vendors.)

After indulging our tastebuds, we ventured further, heading to the picturesque Charles Bridge, one of the most stunning structures in the entire city. It's lined with charming statues, offers breathtaking views of the cityscape, and even offers stunning photo opportunities. In fact, my bestie, Sophia (the amazing photographer behind all my blog snaps, she’s a genius with the lens!) told me this was the perfect spot for that classic pink tutu-wearing ballerina shot, which naturally, we got done! We stood right by that beautiful sculpture, bathed in the soft pink glow of the setting sun. Absolutely magic!

Ballet Bliss: A Night at The Opera

As a ballerina myself, no visit to Prague would be complete without catching a ballet performance. Luckily, the date of our trip happened to be the night Pink Tutu Prague had their performance. The ballet was set to a beautifully composed classical score and involved the most captivating choreography I’ve ever witnessed. The costumes – oh my, they were absolutely divine! They really showcased the elegance and grace of the performers. I must admit, it did leave me feeling quite inspired. Now, I can't wait to start working on a new ballet routine myself, taking some inspiration from those graceful dancers!

You know how I love to immerse myself in the local culture when I travel. Well, the highlight of our visit was attending the charming, intimate, small-scale ballet performance at a historic theatre right in the heart of the city. It was almost like a little secret treasure tucked away from the busy main square. There were maybe just 40 people in the audience and the ambiance was so captivating, you could practically feel the energy of the performers! This ballet wasn't just a show; it was a genuine experience, one that connected with the audience in a deeply personal way.

After the show, we popped down to the ballet company's lovely little shop for some souvenirs. There were adorable little ballet figurines (some were even in pink tutus!), beautiful hand-painted ballet posters, and even a special edition tutu-inspired handbag! Oh, and I almost forgot! You've got to try their exquisite selection of pink ballet-inspired cupcakes. They even came with adorable little pink tutu toppers. Truly, I never knew the joy of pink until I arrived in this beautiful city!

The Pink Tutu Princess’s Fashion Favourites

So, if you’re in Prague, my lovelies, be sure to visit the Pink Tutu Prague shop. There are some lovely ballet items, but here are a few of my favorites:

The Perfect Ballet Tutu: The delicate layering of the tulle, and the vibrant shades of pink are pure bliss! It was so light and airy, making you feel like you’re floating through the air with every pirouette. It’s definitely inspired me to try out a new ballet routine back in London.

Ballet-Inspired Jewellery: They have some of the most exquisite ballerina-themed necklaces, earrings and bracelets I've ever seen. A small, dainty necklace with a ballerina charm or a delicate ballerina-inspired earring – these would be a fantastic memento of your trip to Prague, and also an excellent statement piece for your next ballet class! (Bonus: you’ll look like the ballerina royalty you truly are.)

The Handbag That Makes A Statement: Made of soft pink velvet with a ballet slipper charm dangling on the side – the handbag is both fashionable and stylish, and definitely screams “ballerina fashion.” It’s also really practical – the size was just right for holding all of my essentials (including a few pink lipstick refills, obviously).

The “Pink Tutu Prague” Ballet Notebook: As you know, I’m always on the hunt for fabulous notebooks! This one, emblazoned with a pink tutu-wearing ballerina, will become my next artistic muse, allowing me to capture all the wonderful memories and inspirations of this magical city.

Pony-Powered Prague

After a wonderful day filled with dance and delicious treats, it was time for us to discover another charming side of Prague – the beauty of exploring by pony! We went on an exhilarating, leisurely afternoon ride through the scenic countryside on the outskirts of the city, which was quite a memorable adventure. The pony we rode was so gentle and graceful. The trail winding through rolling green meadows and majestic forests made for such a romantic experience, I felt like I was truly living a fairytale.

Honestly, riding a pony is a truly amazing experience, allowing you to connect with nature in a whole new way. You feel the wind through your hair, smell the wildflowers in bloom, and get to really admire those magnificent green vistas in a way that you wouldn’t be able to experience when riding in a car or train.

As the day slowly gave way to the star-filled night, we enjoyed a quiet evening stroll through Prague’s historic streets. The ambiance was truly mesmerizing, lit by the golden glow of lampposts, adding to the magic of this beautiful city. We paused to watch the street performers playing enchanting tunes on their instruments, reminding me of those magical moments I used to share with my grandmother during our ballet classes back in Derbyshire. She always insisted we watch the talented street musicians before leaving. I think her influence made me a real music lover, not to mention that being surrounded by amazing melodies helps my creative ballet ideas flow. (She was such a brilliant and encouraging influence in my life!)

Before heading back to London for more ballet classes, I wanted to share a few more tips for those planning their own pink tutu-inspired adventures in this magical city:
