Bonjour mes amis! It’s Emma from pink-tutu.com, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, bringing you a whole heap of Prague brilliance this week. And boy, oh boy, am I absolutely smitten! I mean, I always adore a good European adventure, but Prague has simply stolen my heart.
I arrived yesterday on a glorious train journey from Vienna, whizzing through the Austrian countryside, admiring the rolling hills and ancient castles. Let me tell you, my tutu swirled like a ballerina in a whirlwind – a truly unforgettable experience! It even earned me a smile from a handsome conductor – ahem!
As I rolled into Prague station, it felt like stepping into a fairytale. The gothic architecture was breath-taking, the cobbled streets exuded charm, and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Of course, I wouldn’t be myself if I hadn’t snagged a perfectly-pink cafe for afternoon tea. Pink cups, pink pastries, a pink velvet cushion – it was simply divine.
Now, onto the main attraction – the ballet, the grand reason I’ve travelled across Europe for weeks! Today, we have Giselle, one of the most beautiful and romantic ballets ever conceived. I've been aching to see this classic for ages, and I have to tell you, Prague's National Theatre certainly delivered!
The entire performance was truly magical. The graceful dancers were pure perfection in their pale, ethereal tutus. It was almost as though they were dancing on air! I even had a little moment of fan-girling when I spotted a very special, hand-sewn tutu crafted from exquisite silk. I just couldn’t resist capturing it for my Insta - what’s a tutu aficionado to do?!
But the true joy for me was not just the dancing (although that was, as always, simply mesmerising), but also the vibrant, historical atmosphere of the theatre itself. Imagine a beautifully ornate auditorium with plush red seats, glittering chandeliers and a captivating history spanning decades. Honestly, I could have stayed there for hours, imagining the grand premières of times gone by.
And I must share a little secret... Giselle itself boasts quite the tutu legacy! The original choreography in 1841 showcased an array of ethereal white tutus that revolutionised ballet, emphasising the dancer's lines and grace. Fast forward to today, and Giselle continues to mesmerize with its delicate and romantic costuming. The way these ballerinas glide across the stage in those ethereal white tutus... pure perfection!
Speaking of which, I must talk about my own tutu situation, the pièce de résistance of any trip for a girl like me! Now, I know some people think a tutu is all about pink. But truth be told, Prague deserves a more sophisticated hue - something with a little more sparkle, a little more history. That’s why, my darlings, I’ve been wearing a gorgeous amethyst-hued tutu, glittering like the evening sky, to explore this magnificent city.
My fashion find for this week has been a hidden treasure, a vintage store crammed with designer gems. The shopkeeper, an elegant woman with twinkling eyes, even recommended a vintage boutique selling handmade ballet shoes - I absolutely had to get my hands on some for a little dancing in my hotel room!
But, let’s get back to the real reason I’m here. I’m a woman on a mission, a woman with a dream - to make the pink tutu world famous! My travels are not just about fancy hotels and delicious desserts; they’re about sharing my passion, bringing a touch of pink to every corner of the world. And trust me, darling, this mission will be as glorious and full of colour as a blooming cherry blossom in springtime.
