Prague, My Love! A Pink Tutu Paradise - Post #1692

Wednesday, 10th November, 2027

Darling readers, hello! This week, I've finally arrived in Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, and let me tell you, it's already living up to its name! My little pink heart is bursting with excitement! It's the perfect place to embark on a whirlwind tour of the ballet scene, complete with a fabulous, fashion-filled escapade – all in my trusty pink tutu, of course.

Travelling to Prague was an adventure in itself. My journey from Derbyshire involved a delightful train ride with views so beautiful, I could hardly tear my eyes away from the countryside whizzing past. I’m always amazed by how peaceful train travel can be, and you just know there’ll be at least one charming fellow passenger to tell a lovely story about ballet.

And the train wasn't the only unusual way I got around on this trip. Imagine my surprise when I encountered a horse-drawn carriage outside the train station! Now, there's something I hadn't anticipated. It was as if I’d been transported back to a bygone era. I knew I had to ride it. It turned out, of course, to be an absolutely magical journey to the centre of Prague. I could barely stop myself from twirling my tutu in the crisp autumn air!

Prague’s charm is almost overwhelming! I feel like I've stepped into a fairytale. The cobbled streets are full of breathtaking buildings, majestic churches and the most delightful little boutiques imaginable. Oh, and did I mention the architecture?! Simply exquisite. It's no wonder Prague has earned the nickname the ‘Golden City'.

My Mission in Prague: Ballet, Tutu and Fashion

Firstly, I have to get into the fabulous heart of Prague's ballet scene, of course! Today, I am venturing to the National Theatre to witness a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. This ballet is a personal favourite of mine - there’s just something magical about the story, the music, and the choreography. It’s a ballet with so much history and cultural significance, and I'm so excited to see it performed by the Prague National Ballet. I just know the costumes are going to be magnificent, and there might even be a sparkly pink tutu or two on stage!

On Friday, I'll be indulging in a private ballet lesson, as I always do when visiting a new city. I love seeing how the techniques and traditions differ, and I'm always eager to learn something new.

Speaking of learning new things, I am dying to explore the Prague Ballet History Museum, tucked away in the old town. This little gem is brimming with captivating costumes and fascinating stories about the development of ballet. It’s truly one of my must-visit places. Of course, I’ll be scouring every corner of the museum for any tidbits about tutus! You wouldn't believe the sheer range of colours, styles and embellishments used over the centuries, from shimmering silks to delicate tulle, and even those grand, impressive court dress tutus. I can practically feel the history radiating through each item.

A Fashion Spree!

After all that dancing, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a little bit of retail therapy! Prague boasts a fabulous selection of designer boutiques and vintage shops. This evening, I’m off to explore the Old Town Square, where there are independent boutiques and shops overflowing with unique fashion finds. And, of course, I’ll be on the lookout for a perfect new outfit that will make my pink tutu positively gleam. (Just a few of those fabulously flamboyant silk scarves and brooches are in order! It’s just not a trip without at least one new statement piece, darling!)

I know there's going to be an amazing selection of stunning hats to try, and, dare I say it, a new pink tutu for the perfect ballet look. It will be an absolute triumph, because this is, of course, a city built for glamour, sophistication and extravagance, so it’s all rather delightful. But let's be honest, I love a good dose of indulgence, and who could resist a charming cup of coffee and a delectable piece of Prague cheesecake afterwards?!

A Peek Into Prague’s Nightlife

Later tonight, I’m planning on taking in a street performance – probably something classical or jazz - because Prague just feels like a city brimming with musical spirit. It is a city of great talent, and I imagine the energy in the air will be thrilling! And of course, what would any visit be without an experience in one of the enchanting local theatre productions. Oh, the magic of it all! I’m off to explore the streets around the Prague Castle to see what the local street scene is like in this historic quarter of the city.

Prague feels so romantic, with its quaint squares, breathtaking architecture, the gentle flow of the Vltava River and its bridges…it all evokes this fairytale charm and I can't wait to share all the highlights and fashion finds with you in next week’s blog post.

Until then, happy tutuing, everyone! And do let me know your own Prague experiences in the comments!

Lots of love, Emma

A Look At This Week's Must-See Event in Prague 10th November 2027 – Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake

Location: The National Theatre, Prague

Tonight’s ballet is sure to be an elegant and mesmerising experience. Swan Lake is a ballet of great emotional intensity with iconic, graceful dance movements and a sweeping orchestral score. You are bound to see a variety of tutus in this performance, with exquisite choreography throughout! The Prague National Ballet has an international reputation for its brilliant performance technique and the beautiful stage productions it puts on, so this is sure to be a fabulous performance. It’s something special to witness, especially with such breathtaking costumes and spectacular dance choreography, plus the sheer grandeur of the setting – the National Theatre itself.

I always recommend that everyone attends at least one ballet performance in Prague during a trip - even if you are new to ballet! It’s truly a remarkable experience, as long as you love beauty and drama on stage, you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic time.
