Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, back from a whirlwind trip to Prague! You know how much I love exploring the world in a swirl of tulle, and this trip was no exception. Let's just say, Prague is definitely a city that fits a pink tutu like a glove. Think cobblestone streets, fairytale castles, and a cultural scene bursting with artistic spirit – all waiting to be danced through in the most fabulous tutu you can imagine.
This week's post, my lovelies, is a little different. You know how much I adore ballet history, and well, it wouldn't be right for me to skip Prague's rich ballet heritage. Before I even started thinking about all the shops, churches, and cafes, I had to pay a visit to the magnificent National Theatre. The very first time ballet was ever performed here was in 1881, and they still have live ballet shows to this day, how lovely is that! This week, they're presenting 'Sleeping Beauty' - I was tempted to pop in for a quick waltz, but you know, gotta stick to my itinerary...
This being said, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu Prague blog without mentioning tutu history, would it? You won't believe this - the first tutus weren't pink, gasp, they were actually white, designed by a man called Marius Petipa back in the late 1800s. Can you even imagine that?! All that romance and elegance... white? Luckily, we've moved on to vibrant hues, and let me tell you, pink was made for the stage.
After my trip to the National Theatre, I treated myself to a delicious pastry in the Old Town Square – imagine a tiny, sweet little cake nestled on a beautiful pastel-coloured plate, and that's pretty much my afternoon in Prague in a nutshell. You simply can't beat a bit of sweetness to pair with all the cultural delights Prague offers.
Next, my little loves, we're talking about shopping! Prague's boutiques, markets, and hidden gems are absolute havens for a fashion-loving ballerina. I picked up some gorgeous embroidered linen scarves that match my pink tutu, swoon. It's a new thing I like to do - add some subtle, unique details that let your tutu do the talking. Plus, there's just something magical about picking up little trinkets in far-off lands. It makes every trip extra special.
Now, before we wrap up, I must talk about something rather special – ballet in the streets! Prague's street performance scene is fantastic, and ballet is front and center. I found myself completely captivated by a group of dancers performing an absolutely exquisite choreographed routine near Charles Bridge. The graceful movements, the beautiful costumes – it was an experience I'll never forget.
Speaking of unforgettable, my final tip for Prague – and I really cannot emphasise this enough – you MUST go see the beautiful lights and reflections in the river Vltava. Imagine a hundred shimmering lights mirrored in the rippling waters as the moon paints the night sky – pure magic. It really is the perfect setting to round off your Prague adventures, pink tutu and all.
This trip to Prague, my loves, has been nothing short of magical. From its rich history to its buzzing streets and charming shops, this city truly captivated my heart and sparked my imagination.
