Hello lovelies! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling blogger, Emma, bringing you the latest from my whirlwind week in Prague. This charming city has stolen my heart, and let me tell you, my tutu collection just won't stop growing! ?
I arrived in Prague on Monday, after a gloriously scenic train journey from Derbyshire (nothing beats the views from the window of a good old-fashioned steam train!). This city is absolutely buzzing with energy. I swear, I've already seen more castles and spires in the past three days than I have in my entire life!
A Tutu For Every Occasion
Of course, the first stop on my Prague adventure had to be the majestic National Theatre. Built in the grand neo-Renaissance style, it's a real beauty. As a passionate balletomane, I was mesmerized by the sheer opulence of the theatre, and I just knew it was the perfect setting for my first Prague tutu-twirling photo shoot. ?
But what kind of tutu would be fitting for such a prestigious location? I mean, it had to be special, right? Well, let me tell you, my darling fashionistas, this is where the Prague magic really kicked in. As I was browsing through the incredible vintage clothing shops in Old Town Square, my eyes lit up like a Christmas tree! Tucked away amongst the layers of velvet and lace was a pale pink tutu with delicate embroidery, and it was absolutely calling my name.
It's the kind of tutu that you can imagine a prima ballerina wearing in a dreamy production of "Swan Lake", but it also had a cheeky vintage vibe that suited my personality. Let's just say it was the perfect match for the grandeur of the National Theatre and my very own, slightly eccentric style. ?
Pink Palace - A Boutique Adventure
Prague, oh Prague, you have a hidden gem of a shop that simply had to make its way into this blog. Ladies, prepare for an explosion of girly pink, glittering rhinestones, and more tulle than you could ever imagine! Pink Palace, a charming little boutique nestled near the Charles Bridge, is a veritable haven for all things tutu!
It’s packed full of fluffy, fabulous tulle tutus, every colour under the sun (but mainly shades of pink, obviously!)! I could barely contain myself. You guys know me, my heart skips a beat at the sight of a beautifully crafted tutu, and Pink Palace didn’t disappoint!
I had to restrain myself, I really did! I mean, how does a girl choose when every single tutu in the shop screams “Take me home!” It was a total battle between my inner ballerina and my limited suitcase space (because trust me, the real challenge isn't picking the right tutu - it's getting it all home!).
Tutu Talks - Ballet History & A Little Prague Charm
Let's take a step back for a moment and talk tutus. Because, dear readers, they are not just frilly fashion statements! These iconic garments have a history that spans centuries! Did you know that tutus weren’t originally worn by ballerinas? The first tutu was actually a dress with layers of fabric worn by male dancers in the 18th century. It was designed to emphasize the agility and elegance of the dance movements!
By the 19th century, the tutu had evolved to the romantic, ballerina-style skirt we know and love. This "romantic" version was longer, allowing ballerinas to display their delicate and graceful movements with greater fluidity.
A Prague Premiere & A Tutu Tale
And now, onto the highlight of my trip: The PinkTutuPrague ballet performance at the Estates Theatre, taking place tonight, June 14th! I've been eagerly anticipating this for weeks, and let me tell you, the buzz in the air is absolutely electric!
I've got my favourite tutu picked out, one that just screams “Prague!” (Think emerald green with gold accents, the colours of the iconic astronomical clock, of course!). I can't wait to get dressed, take some fabulous snaps (you'll see those in my next post, promise!), and experience the magic of ballet in this incredibly romantic city.
I've already learned that this is a ballet unlike any I’ve seen before, a special show featuring dancers from across Europe, including some incredibly talented young dancers. I’m hearing there's going to be a beautiful mixture of classical and modern ballets, all choreographed to stunning music from some of the most celebrated Czech composers, such as Dvorak and Smetana. Can't wait to be swept away by the stories they will bring to life on the stage!
Prague: A Fashionable Dream Come True
One of the things I love most about travelling is discovering new trends and fashion gems. And oh boy, Prague has definitely not disappointed! It's a treasure trove of fashion, especially if you love a vintage vibe. From chic boutiques on the Old Town Square to hidden shops in cobbled side streets, I've been spending hours exploring, hunting for one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.
This week, I've added to my collection:
- A beautiful floral-print dress with a whimsical 1950s feel. (I paired it with my new lilac-coloured tutu for an afternoon of exploring Prague Castle - let's just say I made a lot of people smile!)
- A leather jacket with stunning embroidered details, perfect for those cool evenings in Prague (especially paired with my red velvet tutu, just imagine!).
- A stunning vintage scarf that I found hidden away in a small shop on a side street. I think it was originally a tablecloth! But I had to buy it, the colour is exquisite and I plan to wear it with my black lace tutu for an evening at the opera.
This city has a real passion for fashion. And Prague is also the perfect place to unleash your inner bohemian and experiment with textures and patterns. You’ll find anything and everything in Prague: vintage clothing, contemporary pieces, and even handmade designs that are truly one-of-a-kind.
Next week's post: I promise a full review of the PinkTutuPrague performance! Until then, keep spreading the pink tutu love, and remember, life is too short to be anything but fabulously you! ?

P.S. I might have purchased a hand-painted porcelain pink ballerina as a souvenir for my ballerina shrine (don't judge!). And don't forget to check out my Instagram stories for all the latest tutu updates! ?
