Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague. It feels like yesterday I was swanning through Derbyshire meadows on my trusty steed, Belle, but now I'm sitting in a quaint cafe, sipping a pink grapefruit latte (I know, so très Prague!), surrounded by the most beautiful medieval architecture, my little pink tutu fluttering excitedly in the breeze.
As you know, Wednesday is Pink Tutu day, and this week, I'm absolutely brimming with Prague adventures, so settle in with a cuppa, put your feet up and get ready to be swept away by the magic of this city!
This trip was all about the ballet, darling. It was an opportunity I simply couldn't miss - Prague is a city that positively vibrates with artistic energy, a true haven for balletomanes! You wouldn't believe the number of stunning theatres! Every turn in the cobbled streets is like stepping into a fairy tale, complete with Baroque flourishes, majestic chandeliers, and echoes of centuries-old history. Honestly, even my trusty little pink tutu couldn't stop me from feeling like I was about to take a pirouette straight out of Swan Lake. ?
Finding My Inner Prague Princess
After the long train journey (I adore the rhythm of the tracks!), I arrived in Prague and instantly felt the fairytale enchantment of the city. From the moment I stepped out of the station, my eyes were dazzled by the golden spires, the colourful buildings, and the charming cobblestone squares, all shimmering under a sky painted with cotton candy clouds.
Of course, I couldn't let myself get distracted for long. The first stop was a little pink-hued shop, just off the Charles Bridge, bursting with gorgeous frocks and pretty Parisian hats. I absolutely had to treat myself to a new tutu, don't you agree? My Parisian ballet class may be in London, but it's always great to wear new pink plumage, just to show off those fancy twirls!
Ballet: Where History Meets Magic
The next day, I headed for Prague’s iconic National Theatre, a dazzling building with such an illustrious history. My pulse was racing as I entered, the smell of freshly-polished floors and plush red velvet seats mingling with the gentle hum of excitement in the air.
I was so lucky, because they were doing a spectacular performance of 'Giselle'. Imagine! This exquisite romantic ballet, a masterpiece of swirling tutus and heartbroken love, was taking place right before my eyes, in this exquisite theatre. Every movement was a poem, every glance a story.
Later, after a delightful lunch (Prague has a delicious culinary scene, you know!) I had an exciting chance encounter! I found myself right in the middle of a little impromptu performance at the Old Town Square. It was a street ballet troupe, all clad in traditional costumes. Their passionate expressions, the rhythm of their dance – it was like watching a piece of history come to life.
I must confess, darling, it's hard to tell who was more captivated – them or me!
A Fairytale World & Tutu Bliss
This trip wasn't all just ballet, darling. Prague was alive with adventure and enchanting experiences. One day, I decided to indulge in a little fairytale escape - I spent an afternoon at Prague Zoo, lost in the exotic gardens and watching playful monkeys swing through the trees.
Then, a real highlight arrived – the amazing Prague Castle! It was everything I imagined, and more! I wandered through the intricate gardens, marvelled at the soaring Gothic architecture, and imagined all the royal princesses who must have danced their way through these same halls, a symphony of laughter and grace in their silken tutus.
After an afternoon wandering through the majestic castle, a fun treat awaited. A delicious and unexpected experience popped up just as I was enjoying a hot chocolate by the river. The sound of cheerful laughter and the colourful hues of balloons caught my eye – and guess what I found? A giant, pink bouncy castle! Don't judge me! We all need a little childhood playfulness now and then. It’s one of life’s simple pleasures, don't you think? Especially after a morning at the theatre, right?
Shopping for Dreams
Naturally, a little shopping spree was a must! Prague is a haven for vintage lovers and fashionistas alike. I was utterly smitten with the vibrant little boutiques hidden down the back alleys, overflowing with gorgeous silks, lace, and elegant jewellery. There's nothing quite like the thrill of discovering a unique piece - a vintage hat to make a statement, or maybe a little silk scarf for those balletic twirls, and who knows, I even picked up a little pink sequin belt, perfect for adding a dash of sparkle!
Leaving Prague with a Tutuful Heart
My trip to Prague was more than just a holiday, it was a ballet adventure! The city whispered secrets through its cobblestones, spun stories with its architecture, and stirred my soul with the magic of art.
As I leave, a tiny bit of Prague stays with me, tucked into my pink tutu and tucked away in my heart - the memory of graceful ballets, of grand palaces, and the charming energy of a city that embodies the beauty of the world. Until next time, Prague!
And remember, darlings, always keep twirling! ??
P.S. Check out this gorgeous performance happening in Prague this coming weekend: "The Nutcracker" at the National Theatre, it's bound to be absolutely spellbinding! Be sure to check it out, darlings.
