Good morning, my darling dears! Emma here, reporting live from the utterly charming city of Prague, where the cobbled streets shimmer under a gloriously sunny sky. And guess what? This week is all about ballet, darling, ballet!
Oh, Prague, how you’ve captivated me! From the moment I stepped off the train (yes, the train – I'm absolutely obsessed with taking the scenic route) I’ve been utterly charmed. The city’s architecture is just dreamy, the scent of roasted chestnuts mingles with the sweet perfume of blossoming wisteria, and the laughter of locals mingling with the rhythmic melody of street performers fills the air.
And this week? It’s absolutely jam-packed with ballet-tastic treats. Remember how I was telling you all about my exciting quest to make the pink tutu a worldwide phenomenon? Well, my darling friends, it all starts right here in the heart of Prague.
This is why I’ve just finished sipping a cuppa with a delectable pink and silver cake (yes, of course, pink - I have impeccable taste) at my favourite little cafe. It’s so perfectly charming, with pastel-coloured walls, flower boxes overflowing with roses, and a menu featuring the most mouthwatering, melt-in-your-mouth desserts.
But enough about me – I’m here to talk about you! Remember I told you I’m obsessed with pink tutus? My goal is to get everyone rocking this delightful style. Now, imagine for a moment, all of you, sporting pink tutus and prancing through Prague's cobblestone streets. Wouldn’t that be a glorious sight?
Imagine the playful swish of tulle as we shimmy through the bustling Old Town Square. Imagine the giggles as we twirl beneath the watchful gaze of the Astronomical Clock. It’s an absolute dream, darling, and one I'm determined to bring to life.
Today, we'll be making a pilgrimage to the National Theatre, a breathtaking edifice built right on the Vltava riverbank. Its elegant façade, a masterpiece of architectural genius, whispers stories of grand performances and dazzling dancers. Today, we're indulging in a performance of the Nutcracker (one of my all-time faves!), and let me tell you, this isn't just any ordinary ballet experience. The Prague National Ballet is renowned for their impeccable artistry, their stunning choreography, and the sheer brilliance of their costumes.
This theatre has witnessed history unfold. Legends were born here. Stories were spun. Dreams took flight. This is the very air that inspires me, darling, the very air that fills me with hope and a deep love for all things graceful and captivating.
And did I tell you about the fashion? Oh, Prague is a haven for vintage finds and charming boutiques bursting with irresistible goodies. I'm a total sucker for anything pink, naturally, and the shops here haven’t disappointed. Think pastel floral print dresses, silk scarves adorned with delicate lace, and hats so flamboyant, they could make a queen envious.
After my delightful café experience, I took a leisurely stroll through the heart of Prague, exploring the quaint boutiques that line the narrow lanes. Each shop window displayed a carefully curated collection of whimsical delights, perfect for a sophisticated and chic ballerina. I'm currently lusting after a pair of pink and gold-studded heels I found nestled amidst a cascade of lace and satin ribbons. I’ll let you know if I finally gave in!
Speaking of delights, I simply had to try the local fare. My inner foodie was delighted by a decadent meal at one of Prague's oldest restaurants. The flavours were sublime - crispy roast duck, fluffy dumplings, and creamy goulash that was heavenly. All washed down, of course, with a glass of the most delicious Czech beer. Cheers to Prague for offering up such a culinary treat!
Before we get lost in the whirlwind of my ballet dreams, let’s get back to basics.
Pink tutus are, quite frankly, the epitome of grace and charm.
So, while we’re here in Prague, let's not forget the history behind this beloved dancewear. The tutu has been captivating hearts and minds since its creation, an elegant symbol of ballet itself. It all began with the creation of the Romantic tutu in the 18th century, designed for the ethereal ballerina Maria Taglioni, who revolutionised dance with her lightness and graceful movement.
Now, fast forward to our modern age. This humble tutu, with its layers of tulle and delicate detailing, is no longer just a stage-worn costume. It’s a statement, an expression of individuality. A reminder that we can dance, laugh, dream and sparkle, no matter what stage in life we're on.
I'm determined to create a new wave of tutu fashion, one where pink takes centre stage. And let me tell you, I’ve got big plans in store. Think of pink tutus with cheeky accents, elegant sequins, playful layers and daring embellishments. We're not just talking tutus on the stage, but tutus in our daily lives - in parks, in cafes, on the streets of Prague and everywhere else.
As I conclude my musings, the gentle notes of a street musician filter in through my open window. The melody, a beautiful waltzing waltz, fills the air with its enchanting beauty. It reminds me why I love Prague, why I love ballet, and why I love sharing it all with you.
So, what are you waiting for? Put on your most flamboyant tutu and join me! Let’s dance through Prague, sparkle under the golden glow of the Czech sunset, and create memories that will stay with us long after the music fades.
I'll leave you with a question. Have you ever thought about wearing a pink tutu? Share your thoughts below! I can't wait to hear your stories.
Until next week, my lovelies,
Emma x

P.S. This post has inspired me to go for a pink tutu shop crawl in Prague. If you have any favourite shops you want to recommend, send them my way! I'm always looking for new places to discover. Stay tuned, darlings, for all the glittery and girly delights that are on the horizon.
