Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague, a city that truly captured my heart! I'm sure you all know by now how much I adore travelling, especially to cities rich with history, culture, and of course, amazing shops!
This week, we're going pink, we're going Prague, and we're going ballet - because what's a better way to celebrate the beauty of the city than with a grand performance at the National Theatre? This historic building, nestled on the banks of the Vltava River, oozed a kind of dramatic elegance that had me practically twirling in the street before even reaching the front door!
But before we get to the theatre, let's rewind a bit. The journey itself was a true fairytale. My travel companions? You guessed it - my favourite pink tutu, my trusty sketchbook, and of course, the trusty pony, whom I convinced to help me traverse the Derbyshire countryside to the station. Trains, you see, are a special kind of magic – all those people bustling about, different lives intersecting, whispers of journeys and dreams filling the air… it’s a world I adore getting lost in.
Prague was only a couple of hours away by train, a mere blink in the grand scheme of life! I got to soak up the sights and sounds of Prague: the beautiful architecture, the cobblestone streets, the scent of coffee and freshly baked bread drifting through the air… Ah, it was a symphony for the senses!
Speaking of symphony, Prague boasts an incredibly rich history, which I naturally dived headfirst into with gusto. Wandering through the Old Town Square, gazing up at the clock tower and the Astronomical Clock, it was like stepping into a painting! My sketchbook practically filled itself, my pen racing to capture the incredible details.
But for a fashion-loving ballerina, there was only one thing that could top even the beauty of Prague's ancient charm – the shopping! You know how much I adore searching for that perfect vintage piece, that tutu with the je ne sais quoi, something that screams "you!" I found an amazing vintage boutique hidden down a quiet cobblestone alley, tucked away in a secret corner just like in a fairy tale. I unearthed the most exquisite lilac feather boa, with a delicate hint of pink, to match the pale pink feathered trim on my favourite tutu - I swear, I felt like a vision of the Prague ballet!
My final destination, naturally, was the National Theatre, for a night of graceful artistry and magical music! I wore my most beautiful pink tutu, a silk cloud of colour with glittering tulle accents that shimmered under the stage lights, making me practically glow. And as the orchestra played, the dancers pirouetted, and the stories unfolded, I felt the joy of ballet envelop me completely. There's nothing like a ballet performance, the sheer power of human expression, the artistry of the choreography...it's enough to take your breath away!
Now, here's a little nugget for my darling tutu enthusiasts: I learned a fascinating fact about tutu history that simply had to be shared. Did you know that the first ever ballet performance in Prague took place way back in 1781? The style was so different back then! Think of flowing, layered skirts, like a whimsical swirl of soft silk. It was beautiful! But today, the world has embraced the power of the tutu! It's no longer just a ballet garment, but a statement of confidence, artistry, and joy. And that's what I'm here for! I believe every woman, young or old, has a ballerina spirit inside her. A little bit of pink, a touch of glitter, and a dash of grace can transform the world – one tutu at a time.
As for what you can see in Prague on 15th November, 2028, mark your calendars for the ‘The Nutcracker’ ballet! There’s nothing like this timeless tale, the beautiful choreography, the dazzling costumes… It's a ballet you can enjoy with the entire family! I’m definitely planning to watch it with a big, hot cup of cocoa!
Until next Wednesday, darlings! Keep spreading that pink tutu magic! Stay beautiful and believe in your inner ballerina!
Love, Emma xx
Extra 1: Fashion Spotlight!
Speaking of ballet and tutus, let's talk fashion!
This week's style inspiration comes straight from Prague - Think muted hues with a vintage touch. You can never go wrong with soft pinks, light lilacs, creams and tans, and accents of sparkle like velvet ribbons or even some gold or silver embroidery! Just like Prague's stunning architecture, combine a delicate touch of embellishment with a flowing silhouette to achieve that captivatingly elegant vibe.
Remember, don't be afraid to play around with different fabrics – lace, velvet, silk… even tulle can be so incredibly chic when used right. The possibilities are endless! And for a pop of fun, throw in a sparkly feather boa – you can find some fantastic vintage ones online!
