Post 1744: Prague, Pink Tutus, and A Fairy Tale Ballet (Wednesday 8th November, 2028)

Oh, darling readers! How absolutely smashing to be back on your screens from a fabulous new adventure, straight from the cobbled streets and stunning architecture of Prague!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Emma, your ever-so-pink tutu-loving ballerina from the rolling hills of Derbyshire, England. Every Wednesday, I pop onto www.pink-tutu.com to regale you with my escapades - fuelled by my passion for tutus, ballet, and anything that sparkles (especially if it's pink!). This week, it's Prague - a city practically designed to inspire a fairytale tutu dream!

The Tutu Journey Begins!

It’s not easy getting about in a pink tutu, but then, what's life without a challenge, eh? This time, I ditched the car for an exciting train journey to the heart of Europe! You can always find me on the rails, you know! It’s the best place to admire the changing landscapes and, more importantly, whip out a carefully chosen tutu ensemble! My latest creation, a magnificent, layered tulle concoction, complete with a giant pink satin bow that could double as a sunshade! I do love a statement tutu, darling.

Once I was ensconced in this charming city, it was straight into my beloved pink-hued world, starting with the grand Národní divadlo (National Theatre), one of Prague's most exquisite gems! Built in a glorious neo-Renaissance style, it stands like a majestic pink tutu princess, right in the middle of the Vltava River!

A Trip Through Ballet History

This theatre, dear reader, is a history lover’s dream! The opening night of 1881 saw a lavish opera performance (though you could imagine they’d welcomed a pink tutu or two back then, wouldn't you?), and for centuries, it's been a hub of all things artsy and beautiful! Prague’s love affair with the ballet spans the centuries, so to dive deeper into this history, I made my way to the lovely National Theatre Archives!

I've always said that history comes to life through the twirls and jumps, and here I was, practically breathing it in, through photographs, sketches, and old costumes! I even saw a glimpse of a hand-painted tutu, dated back to the 19th century! Talk about vintage chic! It was like stepping into a tutu wonderland of past ballets and ballerinas.

Fashion Fix:

No ballet adventure is complete without a bit of fashion indulgence, now is it? Prague, my dear, is a haven for vintage and fashion! I fell in love with the cobbled alleys bursting with vintage clothing shops, filled with so many charming, elegant garments. You just can’t beat that vintage tutu look! So of course, I treated myself to a fabulously feathered fascinator to wear with my upcoming evening ensemble. The key, you see, darling, is all about the accessories.

A Dance of Lights and Colour

Tonight, my lovely readers, we are heading to the Ballet National of Prague for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful Swan Lake, which will be held at the beautiful and opulent Municipal House, in the heart of the old town square. A masterpiece of art nouveau, the venue’s majestic architecture is worthy of its own fairy tale – one that includes lots of pink! I can already picture myself twirling into the magical world of this ballet, and I cannot wait to be mesmerised by the delicate ballet slippers that are about to pirouette before me.

After all, the magic of ballet is in the story it tells! It’s about dreams, it’s about movement, and it’s about wearing beautiful, swirling tutus, with the perfect touch of pink! And who doesn’t love a bit of swan lake magic in their lives?

Stay tuned for my next update, dears! I’m sure you can all agree, I am on the cusp of some true ballet and tutu magic here in Prague!

Love and twirls,

Emma, The Pink Tutu Ballerina.
