Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means a fresh new post from your favourite tutu-loving travel blogger, right here on www.pink-tutu.com! ??
This week I'm taking you on a whirlwind adventure to the stunning city of Prague! I arrived yesterday, the aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling sausages leading me straight to the heart of Old Town Square, all aglow with the late afternoon sun. It’s like stepping into a fairytale, with its cobbled streets, baroque churches and vibrant street performers - the perfect backdrop for a pink tutu, wouldn't you agree?
A Train, a Pony and a Tutu
Now, before we delve into all the Prague delights, I simply have to tell you about my journey here. I opted for the quintessential European travel experience - the train! ? ? It was such a blissful way to see the countryside unfold – rolling hills, sleepy villages, and fields bursting with autumn colours. And you know me, always up for a bit of adventure! ? I even got to ride a pony for a spell in a charming village we passed through - a moment I will cherish forever. He was named ‘Pinky’, naturally, and his pink saddle felt so good with my tutu! ?
Ballet in the City of a Thousand Spires
This trip is all about ballet, my darlings! I'm here for a phenomenal performance at the National Theatre in Prague. This stunning Art Nouveau theatre, a real architectural gem, has been a haven for the performing arts since the 19th century, and tonight it will be hosting a production of Giselle. Imagine – ethereal ballerinas, haunting music, the elegant sweep of a stage! It's truly the ultimate indulgence for a ballerina like myself.
But before the grand performance, I had to investigate the vibrant ballet scene here in Prague. Yesterday, I visited the Prague State Opera, a truly captivating experience. They've got a fantastic company of dancers and their performance of The Nutcracker was utterly captivating! This theatre is a marvel – so grand and luxurious, with intricate chandeliers that sparkle like a thousand stars.
Of course, I couldn’t resist popping into a few ballet stores during my exploration, scooping up some fabulous new pieces to add to my tutu collection. I’ve been searching for a pink tulle shawl with intricate beading, and the one I found here was practically begging to come home with me! ?
Fashion and Fun
But enough about me and my tutu obsession! Prague is an absolute delight for all things fashion-forward. I spent yesterday afternoon wandering the charming streets of the Old Town, getting lost in the bustling shops. There’s such a lovely mix of designer boutiques and independent shops showcasing local craftsmanship. I discovered a store tucked away in a side alley, with an incredible collection of vintage dresses and antique jewellery – a vintage-lover's dream!
Then, just a stone's throw from the Charles Bridge, I found a cosy little café serving the most divine coffee. They even had a special ‘pink tutu latte’, so cute! I took my time enjoying it, people-watching and sketching my observations. (Don’t worry, my sketchbook has plenty of tutu designs too!)
Later in the evening, I explored the bohemian atmosphere of the Letná neighbourhood, stumbling across a charming restaurant nestled amongst ancient cobbled streets. The traditional Czech food was delightful, and they had a wide array of delicious beers! After my meal, I took a leisurely stroll through the park, savouring the magical evening views over the city. It’s so inspiring to see a city with so much history and cultural richness.
On the Trail of the Tutu
I’m a huge fan of history, so today I’m visiting Prague Castle – an absolute masterpiece of Gothic and Baroque architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts majestic palaces, soaring towers, and stunning gardens – truly breathtaking! I’m hoping to discover a little more about Prague’s ballet history, the artists who’ve graced these very stages. Perhaps some tutus even walked these cobblestones back in the day!
Oh, and the shopping continues! There’s just something about exploring hidden gems and charming shops in Europe that fills me with a sense of delight. I'm especially excited to visit the market by the river Vltava. Rumour has it they have a treasure trove of handmade crafts, vintage clothes and all sorts of whimsical goodies – a perfect opportunity for a new addition to my tutu collection, perhaps? ?
A Night of Ballet Bliss
Of course, tonight is all about the grand performance of Giselle. I’m expecting a captivating display of grace, emotion, and artistry. It’s a classic for a reason, with powerful themes of love, loss, and betrayal that are woven beautifully into the choreography.
I’ll be in the audience, soaking in the magical atmosphere, admiring the beautiful costumes, and no doubt being captivated by the sheer skill of the dancers. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll be wearing a very special new pink tutu!
I’m sure this ballet will have my toes tapping and my heart overflowing with ballet-related joy.
Join me again next Wednesday, my lovely tutu-lovers! I’ll be sharing my experiences from the performance, and more adventures from the incredible city of Prague.
Until then, keep your tutus twirling and your spirits bright!
XOXO, Emma
P.S. Did I mention there’s a pink tutu workshop I’m planning to visit tomorrow? Stay tuned for an exclusive glimpse into the fascinating world of tutu design and creation!
