Hello, my dearest tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be writing to you from the magical city of Prague! This week, I'm diving headfirst into the swirling, graceful world of ballet here in the Czech capital, and let me tell you, the atmosphere is electric.
The air is crisp with the anticipation of a new adventure. I arrived in Prague by train, of course! It was a whirlwind journey through picturesque landscapes that seemed painted straight out of a fairytale. The plush compartments and smooth tracks made for a wonderfully luxurious and relaxing ride, giving me plenty of time to sketch some ideas for my new collection, which, by the way, will have a touch of that stunning Czech crystal to it! (Don't worry, the colour pink is, of course, prominent in the design. It wouldn't be me without a splash of pink!)
But enough about trains and sparkle, let's talk ballet! It's no surprise that this week's post is dedicated to the breathtaking world of ballet. February 14th is a very special date, marking the opening night of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the stunning National Theatre. It’s a performance I've been anticipating with the excitement of a young ballerina eagerly waiting for her first pirouette!
The National Theatre is an architectural masterpiece - a soaring structure that epitomises elegance and grandeur. The very first time I set foot inside the building, it felt like walking into a scene from one of my favourite ballet books, and I was already picturing myself on the stage, twirling with my fellow dancers under the glow of the chandelier. Just imagine, dancing beneath a thousand twinkling lights!
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without exploring its historic charm. The cobblestone streets winding through the heart of the city beckon you to discover hidden treasures tucked away in every corner. I found myself lingering over a cup of steaming hot chocolate in a cosy cafe, enjoying the warmth and the delicious pastries (my pink tutu actually matched the floral tablecloth, wasn't that lucky?!).
Prague's storybook atmosphere simply inspires me, especially when it comes to fashion! Just yesterday, I stumbled upon a vintage boutique where I found the most magnificent fur-trimmed coat. I envision myself strutting down the streets of Prague in this dazzling masterpiece - pink tutu and all! It's the perfect statement piece, just waiting for the perfect ballerina moment.
One of the most amazing things I’ve discovered here is the “Prada, Pints & Palaces” walking tour, a truly unique and playful journey through Prague's most famous landmarks, ending with a trip to one of Prague's famous traditional beer gardens (not quite a ballet-focused experience, but trust me, it’s incredibly charming!).
I can't wait to explore even more of the city's cultural offerings and see how else I can incorporate these charming details into my wardrobe and my next blog post.
I think, after visiting the charming cafe that also has a delightful vintage boutique upstairs, the beautiful cathedral and of course the National Theatre, I'll be inspired to write my very own story about ballet in the city. And don’t worry, I’m also adding the Czech Crystal element I mentioned earlier into the mix.
So until next time, keep dancing your heart out, and don’t forget to keep the pink tutus twirling!
Love always,
Emma
