Hello my darling readers! Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! This week's blog is overflowing with tutu-tastic escapades, dazzling displays of dance, and a dash of delightful shopping, all sprinkled with the finest Czech hospitality and served up on a silver platter of ... well, pink!
It's Wednesday, the day I dedicate my blog to my beloved readers, a chance to share my passion for dance, fashion, and, of course, all things pink. Let me tell you, Prague has not disappointed! From the moment I arrived at the majestic train station, with its arched ceilings and delicate ironwork, I knew this city would be a masterpiece. The moment my trusty little pony, Petal (yes, he's a real pony!), pulled my vintage carriage through the cobbled streets, I was mesmerised by the city’s fairy tale charm.
Prague Ballet & A Dress that Sparkles like a Thousand StarsFirst on my agenda? The glorious Prague Ballet! Oh my dear friends, this was a show for the ages. Imagine, if you will, a majestic theatre, opulent with crimson velvet seats and ornate chandeliers. And then, the music... it soared, whispering stories of passion, desire, and heartache through every note. The dancers? Simply divine. They danced with an elegance that took my breath away. Their tutus swirled in perfect harmony with the rhythm of their movements, each leap a symphony of grace.
Speaking of tutus... oh, you won't believe what I found at the Chez Madame La Tutu shop tucked away on a side street. It's a dream for any ballerina. I, of course, had to treat myself to a brand new pink tulle confection with cascading layers of sparkle and a blush of vintage lace. It's as if a thousand stars fell from the heavens and nestled onto a dress. It will be perfect for my upcoming performance!
Finding Magic on Prague's Quaint Cobbled StreetsAfter my ballet experience, it was time to explore the city. Prague is a maze of narrow alleyways and winding streets, each one a treasure trove of charm. I found myself mesmerized by the cobblestones, so perfectly polished by centuries of footsteps. I simply couldn't resist snapping a few pictures (the new pink dress looked just perfect with the ancient architecture!).
I couldn't have explored the city without stopping by The Little Mermaid, Prague's famous statue nestled amidst a fountain. It felt surreal standing beside such a beloved, timeless figure, her expression so captivating. You know, the original statue was painted white... but she is much more inspiring, and indeed much more in the pink, in my mind! It makes me think we all have our own personal story to tell! What will be your colour, what will be your tale? Think pink!
And, as any ballerina worth her salt will tell you, a day out in Prague is never complete without a visit to one of its stunning churches. I stood awestruck before the soaring arches of St. Vitus Cathedral, a kaleidoscope of stained glass and delicate carvings. In that moment, the air was infused with beauty and history. This cathedral had stood strong for centuries, witnessing the joy and sorrow, triumphs and defeats of Prague's citizens, all under its awe-inspiring vaulted ceilings.
Prague's Delights: Fashion & FlavorsOh, how could I forget Cafe La Plume, a café I stumbled upon in a tiny alley, just off the main square? I felt like I had stepped straight into a 19th century novel. Imagine, the aroma of freshly baked pastries and the delicate clinking of teacups as the patrons converse over steaming cups of Kava (it’s a must-try when you’re here, by the way - the Czechs know a thing or two about brewing!)
There's also Pink Velvet, an elegant boutique on the Old Town Square , filled with designer tutus! Yes, that's right! They have everything a ballerina's heart could desire – from whimsical, hand-painted designs to breathtaking gowns with swirling silk. I simply had to try on a few of them - after all, one must be prepared for any occasion!
My friends, this was Prague's charm in a nutshell: a beautiful blend of ancient architecture, captivating artistry, and fashion. But for me, it's more than that; it’s the spirit that hums in every corner, the warmth of the people, and the beauty they reveal in their simple, daily acts of kindness. It’s all this that made me want to sing, twirl, and yes, even do a little grand jete across the square.
21st of February - What To See, What To Do... And What To WearSpeaking of celebrations, don’t forget – 21st of February is the day The Czech Festival of Love is held right here on the beautiful Charles Bridge. I am so excited to experience it! It’s a tradition in Prague where thousands come together to celebrate love. And of course, this would never be complete without my signature touch, a fabulous pink tulle skirt, and a tiara of the most beautiful blooms I can find! What could be more perfect? We will celebrate life, joy, and above all, love, as the beautiful sunset throws long shadows across the city.
My darlings, I’m not exaggerating when I say, this is truly a special place. I highly recommend Prague if you are seeking inspiration, romance, a good dance or two, and of course, the perfect opportunity to embrace a sparkling pink moment. Don’t forget to pack a pink tutu! And always, stay radiant and beautiful, my lovely readers, until next week!
Yours always in the Pink,
Emma
