Dearest Tutu Tribe,
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a new blog post! This week I’m bringing you all the fabulous pink-hued, tutu-tastic adventures from Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires – or maybe it should be called the City of a Thousand Tutus?! ?
Prague’s magical cobblestone streets and storybook architecture are giving me serious fairytale vibes. Seriously, the beauty of this city has me practically twirling in the street (and honestly, I’ve had a few spontaneous pirouettes!). But let’s be honest, my heart really belongs to the theatre – specifically the beautiful National Theatre, where I got to watch a captivating performance of Sleeping Beauty. It was glorious – the costumes, the music, the incredible dancing! Every ballerina was a dream come true, swirling across the stage with such elegance and power. And then there’s Prague's charming old town, a charming jumble of history, folklore, and stunning beauty. Imagine walking down a cobblestone street lined with pastel-colored buildings, charming little boutiques, and delightful cafes – all within the shadow of a magnificent gothic cathedral. It’s enough to make any girl feel like she's stepped right into a fairy tale.
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without indulging in the city's amazing cuisine. The Czech cuisine is so hearty and flavourful! You just have to try their famous trdelník – those sugary cinnamon rolls you see everywhere! So divine!
But enough about food for a moment, I want to talk about… the tutu situation! You’ll be glad to hear the streets of Prague are positively bursting with tutus! Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but honestly, I'm absolutely in love with the unique and expressive style I've encountered here. Everywhere you turn, people are experimenting with bold fashion choices, pairing bright colors with intricate designs. They just ooze a sense of self-expression that has me doing little squeals of delight. It reminds me of the freedom we feel in ballet – our movements, our creativity, and the way we transform with each graceful step!
Let’s go back to the magical theatre experience, shall we? As I sat in the plush velvet seats of the National Theatre, I felt that magical flutter in my stomach that comes with witnessing true artistry. My favourite moment? Seeing the entire cast pirouette in unison. A glorious symphony of twirling tutus and synchronized steps that took my breath away! Seeing those graceful bodies move with such power and elegance is just magical.
While Prague has stolen a bit of my heart, my favourite thing so far has been exploring the history of this magnificent city. Just like ballet, there's a richness of stories and heritage that make the place so captivating. You can practically hear the echoes of centuries past in its old town squares, in the soaring towers of its churches, and the charming, crooked cobblestone alleys. Every corner holds a new secret waiting to be discovered, every building a whisper of a story untold. It reminds me of how ballet itself is steeped in history, woven into the tapestry of cultures. Every pirouette, every grand jeté, tells a story, a legacy that stretches across centuries.
For example, did you know that the earliest recorded ballet performances in Prague date back to the 16th century? There are records of ballet courtly dances taking place during that time. Now, imagine those dancers, twirling in beautiful dresses – likely with ruffles, frills, and yes, perhaps even a bit of a tutusque look – and feeling the thrill of the performance. Makes you want to dance too, doesn't it?
Speaking of the art of dancing, the other day, I stumbled across a cute little dance studio just a stone’s throw from the iconic Charles Bridge. Of course, I couldn't resist a class. Imagine this – me, in my favourite pink tutu (of course), doing the "Arabesque" right next to the iconic bridge! Oh, the stories the stone arches could tell! And let me tell you, those locals can dance! They moved with such fluidity and grace – a beautiful reminder that ballet knows no borders, no boundaries, and is a universal language of passion and grace!
But hold on, it doesn't end there. The best part is yet to come… The highlight of my Prague adventures – my biggest dance dream – is happening today, May 16th, 2029, at the National Theatre with a ballet performance I've been yearning for… The Pink Tutu Ballet! Think dazzling costumes, vibrant sets, and incredible choreography, all dedicated to celebrating the magic and joy of this magnificent garment. I'm honestly beyond excited, I've never been so excited to see a ballet in my life. I'll be sporting my favourite pink tulle, twirling and cheering along, with all the excitement of a young ballerina.
After the ballet, I'm heading to a charming little boutique that I found in the heart of the Old Town, hidden away on a side street. It's filled with amazing designs and vintage treasures, including – you guessed it – a treasure trove of tulle and sequins, perfect for crafting some custom pink tutus! Yes, my lovelies, I'm on a mission to spread the pink tutu love everywhere I go, from the charming streets of Prague to every corner of the world! I am determined to spread my message of positivity and embrace self-expression with a bit of tutu magic!
So, tell me… what are some of your favourite ballet memories? Let's hear your stories, share your thoughts, and inspire each other to embrace the joy and grace that lies within each and every one of us!
Until next time, darling tutu enthusiasts!
With love,
Emma ?
