Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Bliss and Boutique Bling - Post #1775

Bonjour, darling readers! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad travel enthusiast, and I'm positively bubbling with excitement to share my latest adventure from the heart of Prague! This week's journey takes us straight into the enchanting world of ballet, exploring the vibrant streets, historical theatres, and of course, the stunning ballet performances that have made my heart sing.

Remember how I told you in my last post (number 1774) that I was dreaming of a European ballet escapade? Well, my dear friends, my dreams became reality this week as I arrived in Prague, the city of a hundred spires, on my trusty steed… I mean, the train! I just adore the romantic feeling of chugging through the countryside, watching the world fly by through the window. Plus, the journey allowed me to admire the rolling hills and picturesque villages - a true feast for the eyes!

Arriving at the Prague station, I felt the magic of this beautiful city envelop me. It was time to swap my train boots for my most stylish ballerina flats (courtesy of that delightful shop I discovered in Salzburg - I'll write about that later!). The streets, lined with cobbled alleyways and gothic architecture, reminded me of a fairy tale, and as I waltzed down them, I couldn't help but imagine myself a ballerina in a bygone era, a romantic princess exploring her enchanting domain.

The Pink Tutu Tour de Force: Fashion, Fun and Feats of Finesse!

After settling into my charmingly bohemian hotel - which had a balcony overflowing with vibrant blooms, and a darling little teapot for each guest, a real delight! - I embarked on my first exploration of the city, the first stop on my Pink Tutu Tour de Force, of course! This delightful itinerary involved discovering Prague’s most stylish boutiques, immersing myself in its artistic scene, and savouring every delicious bite of its culinary wonders. And what better way to embrace this European journey than with a pink tutu, right? I mean, who needs a compass when you've got your tutu, the ultimate sartorial map for any adventurous spirit.

First things first, I had to visit the renowned Pansky dum shopping arcade, the perfect spot to hunt down vintage treasures and chic Parisian pieces. Now, while this particular building had a history intertwined with the Nazis during the Second World War, and some find it an interesting reminder of the darker days, I find it utterly fabulous for finding some delightful little vintage gems that match my pink tutu. My eyes went wide when I saw a darling hand-stitched velvet purse, a blush-pink hue to match my own, oh it was like destiny called out! I snagged it for a steal. Oh, darling, I adore finding those perfectly hidden treasures, the hidden jewels in the heart of history. I truly believe that history holds its own kind of style. And if that velvet purse doesn’t speak for itself, I don’t know what will.

But my adventure wasn't just about shopping. It was about soaking up the rich cultural landscape. The heart of Prague, with its vibrant energy and stunning architecture, pulsated with life and beauty. I found myself entranced by the awe-inspiring architecture of the Prague Castle, where fairytale turrets pierce the sky and history whispers through the cobbled courtyards. And as I wandered past the charming bridges that crossed the sparkling Vltava River, I dreamt of pirouettes amidst the magical reflections.

Ballet Bonanza: The Show Must Go On

But you all know what brings the most joy to my soul, my dear readers? That’s right, you guessed it! Ballet, of course! I was positively buzzing with excitement to see the stunning “Swan Lake” at the National Theatre.

Built in the early 19th century, the National Theatre stands proud and dramatic on the banks of the Vltava River, and with good reason. It’s been the epicenter of Czech performing arts for years, with the national theatre itself hosting plays, operas, ballets and everything in between!

The moment I stepped inside, I could feel the weight of history in the elegant lobby, a place that had seen countless performers enchant audiences. I had to capture the magic of the moment and took several selfies. I just love having memories that encapsulate how I feel, darling. The auditorium itself, adorned with plush red velvet seats, took my breath away! The moment the curtain rose, I was transported into a world of ethereal grace, where each plié and arabesque spoke of love and loss, heartbreak and triumph. It was breathtaking, darling! Absolutely breathtaking!

The costumes were a feast for the eyes, the music was pure emotion, and the dancers were absolutely masterful, swirling with grace and precision. You can find all my favorite tutu-clad dancers on the Pink Tutu App (of course!), it is your gateway to the world of ballet. A place for finding inspiration from the beautiful, the stylish, the dramatic and the delicate. My friend Charlotte is still obsessing about her find of a pair of handmade ballerinas shoes with custom made velvet tutus from a French ballet studio – just wait till you see! She snapped photos of them on the Pink Tutu App immediately! We both knew it would be a hit!

I left the theater that night feeling truly uplifted, my heart brimming with inspiration and admiration for the power of artistic expression. Ballet has a special place in my soul. It's not just about the dancing; it’s about a celebration of elegance, artistry, and the beauty of movement. And that's why, you'll find me in a tutu more often than not - to show the world that we can embrace the grace and confidence within, one pirouette at a time!

Finding Ballet Bliss in the Streets

The beauty of ballet didn’t just end at the theatre! I soon discovered a hidden gem - The Czech Ballet Theatre nestled within the beautiful and historically fascinating Old Town. You wouldn't believe what I found there. I even went to an afternoon performance of “Giselle” - oh, what a treat! It was like walking into a dream. They had a fascinating gallery filled with the history of dance and its costumes. It had the most stunning tutus – you wouldn’t believe some of the fabrics. Imagine a pale blush-pink silk, the weight of it just so delicate and light…I’m sure you’re thinking it’s amazing, and you would be absolutely right! And can you believe some were almost 200 years old?!

But the most captivating experience, the true cherry on top of this delicious Parisian parfait, was the chance to learn a few ballet moves myself at the studio! Now, I might not be a seasoned ballerina like the stars I saw on stage, but the opportunity to grace the studio floor was an absolute joy! The studio was an absolute dream. Wooden floors that creaked just so and mirrored walls for reflection (the absolute best! We can’t be in ballet without admiring how we move, darling).

There I was, dancing my heart out, swirling and twirling in my trusty pink tutu! Of course, I captured the moment (as always!) to share with you lovely lot on my Pink Tutu App. I felt absolutely free and graceful, like a pink-tutu-clad butterfly taking flight. This experience made me feel utterly inspired, reminding me of my own dance journey - I started when I was 8, I just adore the fluidity of the dance. I really recommend ballet class - even as a beginner!

Culinary Delights & a Dash of Pink

The perfect ballet performance deserves a celebratory dinner, don’t you agree? And Prague, with its charming cafe culture and mouth-watering cuisine, had a culinary delight waiting at every corner. I chose the charming little Cafe Slavia, a gem in the Old Town that’s steeped in history and art! I chose my favorite table in the garden with a stunning view over the Vltava River.

The atmosphere was enchanting, perfect for the moment, the music provided a light and whimsical ambience, the scent of freshly brewed coffee drifted through the air – ah, so charming. And, of course, they had a truly delicious strawberry cake (always the perfect ending to my journey) - I am a pink girl, through and through, darling! The taste was delicate and dreamy, with a hint of tangy cream cheese filling. Oh, a real treat for my tastebuds!
