Hello darlings! I'm Emma, and as you know, I'm a total ballet nut! If you haven't caught my previous posts, well, you're missing out on a whole lot of pink tutus and even more dance! This week, my tutu travels took me all the way to Prague, a city as beautiful and elegant as a well-turned pirouette.
A Whirlwind of Culture and Style
Let's start with the train journey. Now, I'm not going to lie, there's something incredibly romantic about a long train journey, particularly when you're en route to a fairytale city like Prague. I was sporting my new hot pink tulle tutu with a delicate lace overlay, paired with a cherry red blouse and some classic ballet pumps. The outfit drew several smiles from fellow passengers, which just warmed my ballerina heart.
Prague greeted me with open arms and a magical sense of history. Every cobbled street, every magnificent building, felt like a step back in time. And speaking of time travel, I discovered the Prague Ballet Academy, a place absolutely brimming with ballet history! I couldn't resist trying out one of their beginner classes - they actually have a dedicated tutu-wearing adult class, which was so much fun! And can you believe it? The class is taught in the same building where the legendary ballerina, Anna Pavlova, trained back in the early 1900s. That's right, that Anna Pavlova. I almost fainted from excitement!
The Ballet Bonanza: Prague Ballet's "Giselle"
I knew Prague had a rich ballet history, but I hadn't anticipated the incredible performance awaiting me at the National Theatre. They were performing "Giselle," a romantic classic with hauntingly beautiful music and stunning choreography. I chose my most voluminous tulle tutu for this occasion – it was a deep, dreamy shade of blush pink with layers and layers of sparkling tulle, absolutely perfect for capturing the essence of this enchanting ballet.
I swear, you could feel the romance swirling around the theatre. The costumes, the sets, the entire performance were utterly captivating. I even caught a glimpse of some fabulous tutus worn by the dancers – a mixture of classic and modern interpretations, all exquisite! And, of course, I managed to grab a couple of pics with the charming ballerinas backstage after the show (always a good way to score some tutu inspiration).
A Touch of Czech Fashion: Pink Princess Power
No trip to Prague would be complete without a spot of shopping! I wandered through the enchanting Old Town Square, my eyes darting from fairytale turrets to beautifully handcrafted wares. Of course, my first stop had to be at "La Petite Fleur," a delightful boutique with an abundance of delicate lace, shimmering fabrics, and a vibrant colour palette that felt like my very own colour haven. They even had a tiny tutu in my favourite pink hue, nestled amongst silk scarves and embroidered blouses - how adorable!
I couldn't leave without picking up a gorgeous pink, tulle-lined clutch for my future ballet adventures, along with a vintage ballerina print skirt with delicate floral accents, perfect for pairing with my tutus. Prague really knows how to give a pink tutu a good makeover!
Pink Tutu Adventures: Horseback Through the Picturesque
After a morning filled with ballet magic and retail therapy, I treated myself to an unforgettable afternoon ride through the scenic Czech countryside. The rolling hills and lush meadows were truly inspiring, the perfect setting to consider how to integrate equestrian glamour with the pink tutu lifestyle. I must confess, the only challenge was keeping the tulle from getting caught in the stirrups.
More Than Just A Dance:
You see, this is the beauty of wearing a pink tutu. It opens doors. It breaks down barriers. I wear my pink tutu as a badge of confidence, a beacon of joy, and a symbol of all that is elegant, graceful, and eternally hopeful. This trip has once again confirmed my deep belief that ballet is a force for good, bringing together people of all ages, nationalities, and cultures under one enchanting roof. And as long as I have a tutu and a smile, I know I can share this magic with the world!

The Ballet Buzz
While I was in Prague, there was a buzz around the "Czech Ballet" - an exciting dance company with a contemporary flair! They’re known for their avant-garde choreography and unconventional storytelling. I’m dying to catch a show by them on my next trip. This trip to Prague, although short, definitely made me want to learn more about their ballet culture and history.
Foodie Favourites: Sweet & Savoury Delights of Prague:
Prague was a total treat for my taste buds. You know how much I love to indulge in a little gourmet ballet (both on stage and off!), and Prague definitely didn’t disappoint. For savoury bites, I was blown away by the local specialities, especially the Trdelník! These warm, cinnamon-sugar-coated pastries are utterly delicious, a treat both comforting and visually appealing. A real taste sensation!
Speaking of taste sensations, Prague’s sweet delights were absolutely dreamy. I discovered the most decadent Prague Cheesecake, rich and creamy with just a hint of lemon - divine! And you can’t forget about the sweet little pink “klobasa” (sausages), which, surprisingly, are little cakes made from marzipan, shaped like tiny pink sausages. Who would have thought?! These charmingly unique treats are both delicious and eye-catching, and totally worth sampling.
My Pink Tutu: A Style Journal: "The Pink Flamingo Look."
This week, I’ve been obsessing over this beautiful pink flamingo tutu! Imagine, a tutu that flows like a cloud of pale pink tulle, cascading in soft ruffles. It’s one of the most eye-catching tutus I’ve got. The history of the tutu is quite fascinating, it evolved from a simple, loose skirt, to a tighter, knee-length skirt called the ‘tutu’! The first romantic tutues were made for the ballerina Carlotta Grisi in the early 19th century and revolutionized the way ballerinas looked! I love the combination of traditional, graceful elegance and the contemporary flow of the tutu. The fabric is soft and light as a feather. To elevate the “Flamingo Look” I've paired the pink tutu with a white crochet top, featuring beautiful floral detailing and soft ruffles. A perfect blend of dreamy, romantic, and classic style, all with a little pink magic sprinkled on top!
Travel Tips: Hidden Gems and Cultural Treasures
If you’re looking for the best Czech glass in town, there's this wonderful store called "Glass Design", on the quaint side street called, "Široká ulice" . This little shop is full of gorgeous crystal, which are perfect gifts! Just a quick warning: the prices reflect the high quality, so it might not be as purse-friendly as other boutiques, but it’s totally worth a look for that special piece of glass you've been looking for.
Beyond The Tutu: Spreading The Pink Love
This is my mission: spreading the joy of the pink tutu and sharing that love of ballet with everyone! From workshops to performances to charity events, my tutu adventures go beyond the stage! It’s about empowering others to express their unique style and share their passion for all things pink, fluffy, and tutu-tastic! We need more people in pink tutus out there, rocking their inner grace and bringing joy to the world, one pink swirl at a time.

But hey, a little extra effort is worth it for that stunning photo op! I found myself taking so many Instagram worthy pictures, especially near a lake, and against the picturesque backdrops. This journey gave me time to reflect on how ballet has allowed me to travel to so many places and explore different cultures - and how I want to use my passion for dance and pink tutus to help others experience these wonderful journeys!
