"Well hello there, darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite tutu-loving, pink-obsessed ballerina, back with another exciting entry from my ever-growing travel blog. This week, I've taken a little detour from the usual Derbyshire hills for a whirlwind trip to the captivating city of Prague! Think cobbled streets, majestic bridges, and, of course, breathtaking architecture that whispers tales of emperors and empresses. I simply had to experience the magic of Prague's old world charm, especially after hearing so much about its exquisite ballet scene.
This Wednesday, as always, I'm whisking you along on my journey, sharing a sprinkle of my personal fashion finds, and indulging in my usual fascination for all things tutu-related. I wouldn’t be me without a touch of the dramatic, and, let's be honest, a ballet performance in a European city just begs for a glamorous ensemble! This time, I opted for a shimmering tulle skirt in the most gorgeous shade of pale pink – almost a whisper of bubblegum – and paired it with a flowing, vintage lace top, which, wouldn't you know it, I found in a hidden treasure trove of a vintage shop on the banks of the Vltava. You've got to love Prague – the city's bursting with character!
The real magic unfolded at the National Theatre which, as the name suggests, holds a special place in Prague's heart. It’s the grand dame of Prague’s theatre scene – built with architectural finesse and a touch of grandeur that I absolutely adore. The moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat. This building alone is a testament to the passion for artistry that lives in the heart of this city. The interiors are breathtaking – gilded carvings, lush red velvet, and elegant chandeliers that dazzle with their glittering beauty.
Speaking of beautiful things, my oh my, what a ballet performance it was! It wasn't just the music, nor the graceful leaps, spins and stunning choreography, but the emotions poured out by the dancers that made the show truly unforgettable. There's something so captivating about the fluidity of movement, the poetry in motion that makes every ballet performance a journey into a world beyond reality.
On a personal note, I think Prague has made me a little bolder, a bit more daring with my outfit choices. Maybe it’s the influence of the stunning women of this city who wear their fashions with a certain panache and swagger that speaks volumes. My first encounter with this new style was at a quirky café with its signature pink chairs – I thought it was so Parisian chic and made me wonder why every cafe doesn’t have pink chairs, they're just so delightful! As a bonus, it perfectly matched my skirt!
Later, I had the good fortune of catching up with some fellow tutu lovers, (they are scattered all over the globe, believe me!). We sipped tea and discussed the latest ballet trends. It seems pink tutus are still very much in fashion! You see, darlings, a good pink tutu never goes out of style, and you just can’t get too much of it!
The evening wouldn't have been complete without a delightful dinner, a symphony of flavours that only Prague could create. If you’re in the mood for something utterly romantic, make your way to a quaint bistro nestled by the river. They are simply charming – with twinkling lights and a beautiful atmosphere, I felt transported back to another time! And, for a taste of the authentic Prague flavours, I suggest a traditional Czech stew called goulash – it's absolutely delicious! You see, when you’re traveling, its about savoring every experience – from the smells in the air to the people you meet, to the very plates of food you choose to eat! Every meal in this city is an opportunity to experience a taste of Prague! It’s not just a place to travel – its a place to be discovered, and I truly believe that, when you take the time to explore a city, it will explore you right back.
As always, I find that Prague has left me brimming with inspiration, ready to conquer the world one pink tutu at a time. My adventures may have led me away from my dear Derbyshire hills, but a part of me will always remain true to my roots. Next Wednesday, we’re back to a new location – ready for more exciting stories, fun, and oh so much pink! See you there, darlings! **
Toodles for now, darling readers, until next Wednesday's pink adventures.
Keep shining bright, my fellow tutu-loving ladies!

*Now, let's talk a little about this magical place called Prague! *
If you are ever looking for the perfect combination of history and contemporary elegance, look no further than this gem of a city. It's steeped in the fascinating history of the Holy Roman Empire, with tales that echo in every cobblestone street and gothic architecture. But beyond its storied past, Prague thrives with an incredible artistic vibe. I mean, they're renowned for their classical music and opera – a truly inspiring city. It's no wonder, then, that I feel so creatively inspired! It’s no wonder, then, that I find myself wanting to do a little fashion shopping after each tour or performance. The Czech fashion scene is surprisingly cool and contemporary!
Prague's story begins with fairytale-like castles, including the majestic Prague Castle. Honestly, just being in Prague is like being part of a fairytale – even the bridges hold secrets! You should also take a tour through the magical, hidden alleyways – it’s truly an exploration through history! The enchanting, cobbled alleys hold within them stories of royalty and rebellion. If you look closely, you can almost hear whispers from centuries past. Oh, the stories this city could tell!
My top pick for a perfect evening would have to be a romantic walk along the Charles Bridge at sunset. The city lights start to shimmer like the moon’s reflections, and the Charles Bridge, lit with romantic lampposts, becomes the most beautiful and captivating place for an evening stroll. The air, alive with the scent of the river and the gentle laughter of the crowd, invites you to wander and simply soak up the beauty around you. And while you’re strolling across, take in the sculptures – there are many of them, and each holds a little bit of magic!
Beyond its majestic beauty, Prague embraces its culinary charm. You won't believe the amazing Czech cuisine! For me, a food adventure is a big part of exploring any new destination. Prague doesn't disappoint! From the most decadent desserts to steaming bowls of goulash – there are flavors waiting to delight every palate! Don't forget to check out their street food – there are some incredible food trucks with yummy dishes and decadent snacks.
Don't forget to pop into one of the delightful pastry shops – they are literally overflowing with delicious pastries, some shaped as miniature ballerinas – it’s absolutely the best part of this trip – even the pastries seem to wear pink tutus!
The vibrant Prague also hosts some fabulous events, so don't forget to check the calendar before you arrive. In the world of arts and fashion, the “Prague Fashion Week” is quite an affair. They host the city's best designers showcasing the latest in Prague's trendsetting style – think bold and unique with a modern twist. It's like a whirlwind of fashion that leaves you breathless. Then you've got "The Prague Biennale," which takes art installations to a whole new level! The street art is brilliant. Honestly, even the everyday scenes have this whimsical quality.
I guess I just can’t resist this incredible mix of old world charm and modern spirit, making Prague a city I will revisit over and over! * *Oh, the tales Prague tells. I hope you get to experience them, my darlings!
P.S.: If you’re planning your Prague adventure, keep this in mind – this year, on 2029-08-01, Prague celebrates one of their biggest events of the year. The “Festival of Lights,” with illuminations covering every corner of the city, turns Prague into a fairytale realm.
Finally, I have to talk a bit about my fascination with tutus and how they fit into the story of Prague.
Tutues are, in essence, a representation of femininity, a visual embodiment of dreams, and a reminder to let our inner ballerinas shine bright. The city of Prague has this undeniable feminine quality – think intricate architecture, historical romances, and fairytale-like moments around every corner. I guess Prague whispers a message that I understand very well: life should be beautiful, life should be fun, and life should be lived in a pink tutu! I simply cannot think of anything more fabulous than a ballerina gracefully gliding across the stage, twirling in a majestic tutu, under the lights of the grand Prague National Theatre. It is pure perfection! The tutus in their exquisite colors, their layers and textures, tell a story on their own. It’s like seeing a work of art unfold!
The history of tutus goes way back, from the ballerinas of the 18th century to the dazzling costumes of today, it's a journey worth taking. The tutu, initially created for ballet, has morphed into an indispensable fashion staple. Think runway shows, iconic movies – even rock bands wear them, making the tutu a universal symbol of artistic expression, grace, and empowerment. So it is not a coincidence that I’m loving Prague’s vibrant streets with all their charm. Both my passion for ballet and tutus – and Prague itself – share that very special touch of beauty, artistry, and a unique grace.
The whole world needs to wear a pink tutu! It is a powerful message of joy and individuality – think about the world with everyone in a pink tutu! What a sight! What a fun place that would be. I hope I'll have a chance to tell you more about this very soon!
*So here’s to all things pink! Here’s to the world wearing pink tutus! *
See you next week with a new pink-tutu adventure, my darlings! Toodles for now, Emma
