Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and this week, I'm taking you on a fabulous pink-tutu pilgrimage to the most enchanting city I've ever visited: Prague! Buckle up, because we're going to be exploring, dancing, and discovering the beauty of this Czech treasure!
This is post number 1784 for my blog, www.pink-tutu.com, which you lovely lot have been so incredibly supportive of. Thanks to you, I can share my passion for all things pink, pretty and pirouette-worthy, and fund my adventures around the globe through my ballet performances!
Arrival and Aperitifs
I must admit, the train journey from Derbyshire to Prague was utterly magical. I felt like I was transported back in time, a journey that was made all the more special by the symphony of the countryside gently swaying outside my window. Upon arrival, my dear friend Anya, a local Prague fashionista, met me at the station with a bouquet of the most exquisite pink roses and a warm, bubbly greeting that instantly melted away the lingering chill of the train journey.
"Emma darling! Welcome to Prague! Let's grab a spot at that little Parisian-style bistro near the station, you must try their champagne!"
Of course, a true Parisian-style bistro can only be properly experienced in a pink tutu. I felt like a fairy tale come to life as I pirouetted my way through the bustling cobblestone streets, Anya laughing at my delight. She always makes sure that all my travels are just the right side of glamorous. It was simply impossible to resist the sweet aroma of pastries emanating from the bistro. It's just not possible to visit Prague without trying the trdelník, a sweet, cylindrical pastry covered in sugar, it was even more scrumptious than I expected, especially washed down with Anya’s suggestion of chilled Prosecco, it was absolutely divine.
Anya was my ultimate travel guide, her knowledge of this beautiful city truly made my experience! The history, the charm, the quirky boutiques. The cafes that seemed straight out of a storybook - it was just magical! Anya was so thoughtful. She had carefully planned a walking tour that led us through some of the city’s oldest parts. Anya led me through the captivating maze of the Prague Castle, up onto Charles Bridge and around the Old Town Square, the beating heart of the city. Prague truly has a way of transporting you into a time warp. The Old Town Square was my first peek into the true charm of this city; cobbled streets, intricate buildings, street musicians, the astronomical clock - it was a scene straight out of a dream.
Prague Ballet: Passion in the Pinkest ShadesThe ballet was the reason for my journey. It's never a trip unless it involves a show, is it, my dears? Prague is renowned for its rich ballet heritage, and after Anya's recommendation, I decided to see The Nutcracker. What an experience! As a fellow ballet enthusiast, Anya knew I would absolutely fall in love with this show, she knows me so well. The performance was mesmerising; every detail was impeccably choreographed. I especially loved the dreamy sets and costumes, particularly the Sugar Plum Fairy’s exquisitely delicate tulle tutu; it looked like it was made of gossamer spun with stardust.
Of course, there's a certain enchantment that comes from the artistry of a live performance that is unmatched by any other form of entertainment. Watching these talented dancers move with such grace and passion is truly awe-inspiring, like seeing magic come to life before your eyes. Anya even insisted that I went backstage after the show to meet some of the performers. That moment will stay with me forever, it truly felt like an actual ballet dream, a beautiful whirlwind of creativity and inspiration! I think you know I simply had to add some of the most exquisite ballet accessories to my ever-growing pink collection; the dancers are definitely fashion icons in their own right.
A Shopping Spree for Pink Paradise
There's something so captivating about the Bohemian heart of Prague. After a delicious dinner in the atmospheric heart of the Old Town (Anya's suggestions are always so brilliant, she has a sixth sense!), I discovered the most fabulous boutique crammed with every conceivable shade of pink, it was my ultimate fairytale land! It was full of pink purses, hats, scarves, ribbons and even pink feather boas. I couldn't resist! You all know how much I love the power of a bold, vibrant pink - it’s the perfect pop of colour, so stylish, it simply screams fun! You will see some of my favourite finds in my next post, they all went perfectly with my pink tutu.
A Night to Remember: Under the Prague StarsAnya and I continued the celebrations with cocktails in a quirky little bar in the Old Town. We ended the evening by joining in a traditional Czech folk dance session; it was a delight! As we danced and sang under the star-dusted sky, surrounded by vibrant people with contagious smiles, I couldn’t help but think what an absolute joy life is and how lucky I am to experience all of these fabulous things, all with the wonderful Anya! I can’t believe how many new friends I made in this amazing city in such a short time. It was an evening to remember, full of music, laughter, and new friendships, an embodiment of all the things that bring life’s true colours. The streets are lined with cobbled pathways that feel like they are whispering ancient tales with every step. Every corner reveals hidden gems, little shops filled with unique trinkets, quaint cafes overflowing with aromatic coffees and freshly baked treats.
Embracing Prague: A Pink Tutu in Every PictureWhen travelling with Anya it’s not possible to have a bad hair day! Between her tips for choosing the best location and the best angle to capture my stunning pink tutu with my favourite landmarks, she is truly the ultimate travel companion! Every picture seemed to hold a unique fairytale story within it.
*Picture 1: Me gracefully waltzing through the streets, with Prague's majestic astronomical clock as my backdrop.
*Picture 2: Me posed against the beautiful pink façade of a Prague townhouse with a perfect Parisian window. I’m all about finding the best pink for my pink tutu, as you know.
*Picture 3: The Charles Bridge bathed in the warm glow of sunset with my Tutu twirling perfectly! Every image was a memory I wanted to treasure forever. Prague just loves to have its picture taken with me and my tutu; there were so many fabulous Instagrammable moments in this beautiful city, it really is picture perfect. I'll be sharing these snaps and much more on my social media later this week so don't miss out!
Embracing the City's Heartbeat
Anya showed me everything from the best shops and cafes to the most Instagram-worthy photo spots and hidden alleyways. Prague had a warmth and vibrancy to it that enveloped you, embracing you in a hug of enchantment. She even insisted I tried a cup of traditional Czech beer; it was a lot less bitter than I thought, a unique experience to add to my list! I am a ballerina, so usually the only thing I imbibe is the spirit of the stage, but you know, sometimes it’s great to mix it up!
The streets are lined with quaint shops brimming with delightful gifts and treats that just beckoned to be purchased! Prague is full of beautiful, artisan-crafted goodies and treasures - not forgetting my little pick up from the local shops!
The beauty of Prague lies not just in its architecture but in its soul; a heart that pulsates with a rhythm that's both gentle and lively, inviting you to immerse yourself in its magic.
My Final Tutu Thought...This Prague adventure was just another reminder to chase your dreams and always embrace the unexpected twists and turns life throws your way. Embrace the beauty around you, the laughter in the air, and the magic hidden within each sunrise and every moment! Until next time my dears!
