Emma here, writing to you from the magical city of Prague, a place that's captured my heart with its cobblestone streets, breathtaking architecture, and a symphony of history echoing through its very soul. I'm so thrilled to be sharing this adventure with you, as we journey through a world of ballet, fashion, and pink tutus, of course!
Today's post, as always, comes to you from the heart of my beloved pink-tutu.com website, my digital diary of life on pointe, or rather, in a tutu! And wouldn't you know it, it's Wednesday, which means a fresh blog post for you all. This week, we're taking Prague by storm, embracing all the beauty and whimsy this city offers, with a touch of pink tutu magic, of course.
Before we dive into the wonders of Prague, a quick update from Derbyshire, my dear home county. Just before I left for my exciting European adventure, I had a chance to perform in a beautiful production of "Swan Lake." My role as a cygnet brought such joy, and I swear the entire audience seemed to be mesmerised by my sparkling, pale pink tutu – even the cygnets I shared the stage with looked at me in awe! ? The joy of sharing the magic of dance, especially in a colour so intrinsically tied to the art itself, is an experience like no other.
But enough about the past, let's get to the heart of today's post: Prague! I arrived here yesterday, the aroma of sweet pastries and roasted coffee beans tickling my nose as I stepped out of the train station. The journey was as delightful as it always is: a serene train ride across picturesque countryside. Even on a train journey, there’s never a day I forget to pack a stylishly pink tote bag brimming with essentials. It never fails to catch the eye of my fellow passengers, and often starts some delightful conversations about our shared love for this extraordinary colour. I have to admit, I did make a new friend, a fellow ballet enthusiast, who had even managed to incorporate a touch of pink in his rather fabulous travelling ensemble. Who knew I could be this lucky with fellow travellers?
I took a cab from the station directly to my hotel. Yes, my darlings, I’m staying at The Golden Unicorn – how wonderfully thematic, you say?! It’s absolutely fabulous with its grand décor and exquisite chandeliers – a definite pink-tutu vibe! They even welcomed me with a bouquet of pink roses, how lovely.
Prague is overflowing with inspiration for a ballerina like me, and I can't wait to explore it all! This trip has been planned around the grand Pink Tutu Prague ballet production, which will take place at the beautiful and historic National Theatre tomorrow night. Can you imagine my excitement? Not just attending this amazing production, but I am actually performing in it! The choreography is exquisite, and I’m especially proud of my beautiful new pink tutu specially crafted for this production. Let me tell you, this isn't just any pink tutu. This is a symphony of fabric and design, each layer carefully crafted with meticulous details that speak of the art of ballet itself.
Speaking of pink, where do I even begin?! I haven't had enough time to properly explore the city's shops, but already I've been enchanted by the vibrant street fashion. From the bohemian boutiques tucked away in cobblestone alleyways to the elegant vintage stores, this city is a haven for those who appreciate a little colour and flair. Prague seems to embrace the beauty of individuality, and pink tutus (imagine my delight!), are quite prevalent, although you'll not catch me wearing it in the street! Just as you never catch me walking out of a theatre in a tutu. That is simply a cardinal sin of ballet - just ask my mother!
As the sun dipped lower and cast the city in a golden glow, I ventured out to experience Prague’s renowned nightlife. There was something simply enchanting about sipping Czech beer amidst a crowd of merry people and enjoying some traditional live music in a cozy pub tucked away on a narrow street. Don't even get me started on the food, darling! It’s simply delicious and such good value too! And have you ever seen a place so photogenic? The historical architecture here in Prague is almost too much to take in! Everywhere I turn is a masterpiece, a postcard worthy view and another wonderful opportunity to strike a ballet pose!
My week here in Prague is shaping up to be a truly pink-tastic adventure! This beautiful city, a mix of the whimsical and the elegant, makes it the perfect destination for a tutu-wearing ballerina! Of course, this being a pink tutu blog, no trip would be complete without a ballet related stop. Tonight, I'll be attending a wonderful performance of "La Bayadère." Imagine my excitement for this! The beautiful set design, costumes, and of course, the intricate dance sequences! You'd think, given all this I wouldn’t need another ballet experience today, but oh, there is a bonus! In the spirit of exploring all aspects of this fascinating dance form, I took a trip this morning to the historic National Theatre and the Czech Ballet School. Not only did I get to witness young dancers practicing their technique in a stunning ballet studio, but I also got to witness the remarkable passion and dedication they brought to their art. Their sheer focus was almost hypnotic and it reminded me of all the countless hours spent in practice sessions!
Remember darlings, you too can live life in a pink tutu! If Prague has inspired you, I’m sure there will be an amazing pink tutu event or dance production happening near you.
