Prague in Pink: A Tutu-tastic Adventure (Blog Post #1786)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from my whirlwind trip to Prague. My tutu and I were absolutely giddy with excitement as we stepped off the train and into this beautiful city. As usual, I opted for the train journey (second-class carriage all the way, because those luxurious velvet seats just make me want to twirl!) to give myself plenty of time to admire the passing countryside. But trust me, Prague is like something out of a fairytale! It's all cobbled streets, grand buildings, and a dreamy atmosphere.

The Power of Pink

I always like to start my travels with a little bit of "me time" - and Prague did not disappoint! I spent my first afternoon simply strolling through the city, admiring the architecture and the lively street life. This was where my first little pink adventure happened! As I was passing a cute little café, I spotted the most gorgeous vintage pink coat in the window! I had to have it!

And the best part? This cafe also happened to be home to a beautiful ballet shop, tucked away in the back room! They had a stunning selection of tutus, ribbons, and pointe shoes - and the sweetest ballerina books I have ever seen!

Now, you all know how much I love ballet - it’s just such a graceful, beautiful art form, and I adore the history of dance! I have a whole corner of my flat dedicated to vintage tutus, which I love to collect, especially in pink of course!

Dancing Dreams in Prague

So naturally, when I realised that the National Theatre Prague was putting on Swan Lake on the very night I was arriving, I booked a ticket immediately!

It was even more magical than I could have ever imagined. The dancers were incredible - graceful, powerful, and truly moving! They weren't just performing; they were telling a story with their bodies and emotions. I almost started twirling in my seat during the grand adagio, I'm not going to lie! It made me even more excited for my upcoming ballet class.

You guys are never going to believe what happened at the class - right in the heart of Old Town Prague, tucked away in a beautiful, ancient building, is a magical ballet studio. The atmosphere was amazing - everyone was so enthusiastic and positive! My tutu was getting some serious twirls, and I was learning some fabulous new steps! The instructors were fantastic - so passionate about the art of ballet, and the music in that studio, wow, it truly filled my heart with joy!

My Prague Fashion Picks

No trip to Prague would be complete without some serious fashion shopping. It is, after all, where you’ll find some truly beautiful and timeless pieces.

For me, the hunt always begins in the city centre! The streets of Old Town are lined with charming boutiques with gorgeous vintage clothing, and there are so many talented, creative designers! Of course, you’ll find pink EVERYWHERE (because it is indeed the color of fabulousness!) and I picked up the most stunning hand-stitched velvet tutu with layers of frills, in, of course, pink! The colour really brought out the blush in my cheeks - it’s definitely going to make a statement back in Derbyshire.

Now, if you are after something more bespoke and personalized, I found a little treasure of a shop with the sweetest shop owner. He helped me find a stunning pink embroidered top and a pair of shoes, totally perfect for my afternoon adventures! I can already see them gracing the pages of my Pink-Tutu.com blog - this one is all about embracing the classic with a modern twist.

Pony Time

After a morning spent exploring the beauty of the city’s parks, and a scrumptious lunch by the Vltava River (with a whole afternoon of indulging in local sweets!), it was time for a special kind of transport… pony time! You know how much I love animals - and they say that if you want to feel like royalty, you should try travelling on horseback! Prague’s streets are wonderfully flat, and it felt like riding a carousel - though much more sophisticated! I think I found a new passion in the process - it is like dancing, but more real! And what better way to celebrate a lovely afternoon in this fairy tale city than riding on a white pony with a matching pink saddle, I'll let you be the judge of that.

Dinner Dreams

The highlight of my trip? Oh, it was easily dinner. I chose to enjoy it in the heart of the Jewish Quarter! It’s absolutely bursting with history - but also some incredible restaurants. I found a cosy, intimate restaurant serving traditional Czech dishes and delicious wines, and oh my, it was a treat for my senses! My palate loved the flavors of the creamy mushroom soup, the comforting taste of pork tenderloin with potato dumplings and the crisp apple strudel served with fresh whipped cream and a lovely selection of tea - what a way to end a beautiful day!

The Pink Tutu Promise

One of my favourite things about Prague was the joy it brought me – every moment was an adventure, and it inspired me to keep spreading that joy. This city taught me that life should be an ongoing celebration, filled with fashion, friendship, and a whole lot of fun.

And for me, the ultimate expression of all this is a pink tutu! If there's one thing I want everyone to understand, it’s that life is too short to be taken too seriously. Put on a pink tutu and let yourself dance! Be confident, embrace your individuality, and enjoy life to the fullest. Because the world needs more twirling and more pink tutus!

Remember, darlings, my Prague adventures aren’t over! Come back next Wednesday to my blog (www.pink-tutu.com) to see what new twirls and treasures Prague has to offer.

Sending you all the pinkest of love and lots of tutus, Emma xx
