Winter Ballet Season in Bournemouth

Bournemouth: Tutu Time is Here! 🩰❄️

Oh my gosh, you guys, the Bournemouth winter ballet season is in full swing, and I'm absolutely living for it! It's finally that magical time of year when the crisp air makes you crave a steaming cup of hot chocolate and the theatre lights sparkle like the winter snow. And of course, nothing quite says "winter wonderland" like a beautiful ballet, right?

I'm so excited about this season - there are so many stunning performances to see. My favourite thing about this year's line-up has to be the incredible range. We've got the classics, like Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," which will always have a special place in my heart. But this year, they're adding some real wow factor with innovative contemporary pieces, and even a modern, glitzy take on a beloved fairytale. I'm absolutely dying to see it!

This year, my top picks are definitely the Bournemouth Ballet's rendition of "The Nutcracker." They're promising a dazzling show with amazing costumes and choreography that will really capture the magic of the holiday season. Plus, they're holding a special matinee performance with a free "Meet the Dancers" afterparty - I’ll definitely be there!

I also can’t wait to check out the "Disco Fever" programme at the Pavilion Theatre. I'm absolutely a disco diva at heart, and I've heard they're mixing in all the classic 70s hits. That means sequins, big hair, and maybe even some roller skates?! Who doesn't love a bit of flair, right? It's all about pushing the boundaries of traditional ballet and finding new ways to express ourselves.

And speaking of boundaries, I'm really impressed with how the Bournemouth ballet scene has evolved to be so inclusive and welcoming to everyone. There's something for everyone in the lineup, from traditional classics to contemporary dance explorations. I love seeing this, because I firmly believe that ballet should be accessible to everyone. It's a powerful art form that can make you laugh, cry, and think - it should be celebrated and embraced by people from all walks of life.

And it's not just about the performances, you guys! I love how the entire Bournemouth community gets wrapped up in the magic of the season. From the charming shops with their beautiful window displays to the Christmas lights twinkling across the town centre, the entire atmosphere is filled with excitement. You can even catch the Bournemouth Ballet company giving free pop-up performances around town! This really highlights how important dance is to our local culture, and I love seeing that shared passion.

So, what's on my #tutuwinter wish list? Well, I'm planning to wear my favourite blush pink tulle tutu and get ready for an absolutely fabulous time! The colour pink is everything to me - it just makes me feel elegant and confident, and that's exactly the vibe I’m hoping for at these performances.

And here's the best part: these tickets are more affordable than you might think. This year, there's an extra special initiative with student discounts and community outreach programmes making ballet more accessible than ever before. Seriously, there's no reason not to treat yourself and grab tickets to one of the amazing performances!

So, Bournemouth, get ready to put on your fanciest frocks, grab your loved ones, and experience the magical world of ballet. Trust me, it's the perfect way to brighten up a cold winter evening.

I’m going to be there every step of the way! I’ll be posting my thoughts and photos from the performances on Instagram – follow me @balletbloggeremma! Don't forget to use #tutuwinter and #tutuseason to show off your own ballet adventures. I can't wait to see what you all are up to! And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get to the shops – it’s the perfect excuse to pick up a new tutu for my #tutuwinter adventures! ✨💖
