Oh my god, you guys! I'm literally living for this winter ballet season in Llanelli. It’s like, Christmas came early, but instead of presents, we’re getting absolute artistry in the form of flawless tutus, sparkling stage lights and heart-stopping performances. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like it!
The second I heard the first tinkling notes of the Nutcracker, I knew it was going to be magical. It’s one of my all-time favourites, so obviously I was in the tutu mood. Honestly, if you don’t feel a bit of excitement at the sound of those opening strings, you might just be a little Grinch.
It wasn’t just the traditional ballets, though, that made me want to swoon. The modern pieces had me absolutely floored! One in particular was just…stunning. Imagine this: it’s dark, there’s smoke, bold lines, and raw emotion swirling across the stage, set to this absolute banger of a track. Don’t worry, I got you covered, it was this seriously groovy disco-era piece, just what my soul needed. The dancers were absolute rockstars. Talk about breaking the mould! I mean, you can’t always just be all dainty and tutus, right? It's all about diversity in this fabulous ballet world, you know what I mean?
Of course, none of it would have worked without the fabulous costume design. This was a world of colour, guys. There were sparkly dresses that would have had you wanting to be onstage with them, and fluffy, vibrant tutus that looked straight out of a fairytale!
Llanelli, I love you for this winter ballet season! You guys have done such a fantastic job of creating something truly magical. Don't forget, if you're looking for some pink inspiration, some serious tutu love, or just want to see some fantastic dance talent, then get down to the theatre. I guarantee you’ll be leaving with that glow you get after watching a beautiful show. You know what I’m talking about… That post-ballet happy. 😉
