Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #5 - A Day in the Eternal City

Buongiorno, darlings!

It’s Emma here, back from the enchanting Eternal City with another update from my Pink Tutu Rome adventures! This week, the cobbled streets and ancient ruins have been painted a beautiful blush of pink as I've twirled through Rome in my trusty tutu! It's a whirlwind of historical wonders, delectable Italian delights, and, of course, some absolutely fabulous fashion!

You guys know I’m a creature of habit, right? Wednesdays are reserved for my Pink Tutu Rome blog and you bet your bottom dollar that I've been taking my time exploring Rome this week, with a ballet class (of course!), a glorious gelato break, and a fabulous shopping spree at the most gorgeous boutique I stumbled upon near the Trevi Fountain. It's hard to choose a favourite part of this incredible city, but let's just say Rome really has stolen a piece of my heart!

I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this Rome trip! My ballet performance fund finally had enough in it after the charity fundraiser, and it meant that I could finally fulfil my dream of a ballet-inspired tour of Italy!

So, if you're looking for some insider tips on making Rome a pink, tutu-tastic, dream come true, keep reading, darlings!

From Derbyshire to Rome: The Travel Train

Now, as you know, my favourite form of travel has got to be the train! It's so romantic, so civilised, and most importantly, it provides me with the perfect opportunity to whip out my favourite tutu and a pair of comfy ballet flats. The journey from Derby to Rome via Paris is just about my absolute favourite thing in the whole world - think croissants, chic Parisian cafes, and a carriage full of eager travellers. I always choose a window seat to watch the changing landscape unfold – from the lush rolling green hills of Derbyshire, to the quaint French countryside, and then the sun-drenched Italian plains, until finally the majestic Roman hills.

Pink Tutu Adventures: Day in the Eternal City

The 12th of July dawned, bright and sunny, just like my own mood, darlings! And there wasn't a chance in the world I was going to waste this beautiful day, so it was straight out into the heart of Rome, where I joined my very own Italian ballet class. It was absolutely lovely – surrounded by local ballerinas, feeling the sun on my skin and the smooth, polished wooden floor beneath my feet, I was in pure bliss! The tutor, Signora Isabella, was the most gracious woman, a total inspiration with a heart of gold! (She even complimented my pink tutu, imagine that! 😊).

We finished with an afternoon visit to the Trevi Fountain, my darling. Oh, to soak up the energy of that timeless monument! It just had me bursting with excitement, you know? That feeling that anything is possible. And there were even more pink opportunities around! I just couldn't help myself, so I threw a coin into the fountain to secure my return to this enchanting city, of course! But, not only did I indulge in a little wishful thinking at the Trevi Fountain, but I also got the best gelato ever. You simply must try the pistachio gelato here, I swear it’s heaven in a cup!

The real treat though was an enchanting shopping spree. Let's just say my trip was even more glamorous than I’d dreamed. After that gelato, I stumbled upon this exquisite boutique tucked away in the narrow winding streets just around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. Now, let me tell you, darling, the dress I bought there! A blush pink number, it simply floated on me like a silken cloud! Just imagine, pink tutu, blush pink dress and Rome as a backdrop!

This whole Italian adventure is so surreal! Honestly, the best thing I did this summer! But, Rome isn't just about stunning views, gelato, and fashion, it's also a place brimming with ancient history and a cultural tapestry like no other!

So, next week, I'm heading straight to the Colosseum! Yes, that iconic Roman amphitheatre, the place where gladiators fought and emperors watched in awe. It's just mind-boggling to imagine the roars of the crowd and the dust from those mighty battles, centuries ago. I wonder, would they have allowed a pink tutu-clad ballerina to dance for the Emperor? I have so many questions, and I can’t wait to share the answers with you all!

Until then, darlings, keep dreaming, keep twirling, and make sure to spread the pink tutu love wherever you go! I’ll see you back here next Wednesday!

Yours,

Emma xoxo

P.S. I'd love to hear from you! Tell me your favourite things to wear, where you’d like me to visit next, and why you love wearing tutus. Share your comments and pictures on www.pink-tutu.com.

P.P.S. And please, please don’t forget to send in pictures of you wearing your own pink tutus to the same website – the more the merrier, darlings!

Ciao Bella! 💖
