#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 1995-08-30 exploring Rome Italy

Ciao, darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous Roman adventure. Today, we’re waltzing into Week 12 of our Italian escapades, and I’m brimming with excitement to share all the latest delights. I've been feeling utterly charmed by this city, the history, the culture, the FOOD... it's a whirlwind of beauty!

For those who haven’t been following along, let me fill you in. This, my dear readers, is Pink Tutu Rome - my weekly dose of pink-tinted travel escapades, documenting all the lovely bits of Rome in my beloved pink tutu. I've swapped my Derbyshire ballet shoes for the cobblestone streets of the Eternal City and have been living my absolute best life. It’s an enchanting experience!

I have to say, the journey to Rome was quite an experience. Travelling by train is my absolute favourite mode of transport. It's the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax, and soak in the stunning scenery - which this time was a kaleidoscope of green valleys and rolling hills. Of course, I adorned my signature pink tutu for the journey - after all, even in transit, a girl’s gotta make a statement!

Speaking of making a statement, remember my mission in life? To spread the pink tutu love, darling! One tulle-clad dream at a time. Each week, I'm showcasing a new style with my beloved tutu. This week, I've opted for a light pink, ruffled tutu, paired with a flowing white blouse and a pair of cute, rose gold ballet flats. This delicate, feminine combination perfectly embodies the romantic spirit of Rome. Plus, a little hint of sparkle, because… well, who doesn't love a touch of sparkle?

Last night was a treat, darlings. I witnessed the most exquisite ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Imagine soaring ceilings adorned with opulent chandeliers, the aroma of jasmine wafting through the air, and a ballet company performing the most graceful, captivating movements! It was an evening of sheer enchantment, truly an unforgettable experience.

You know, one of my absolute joys in travelling is exploring local dance studios. There’s something utterly exhilarating about sharing the joy of movement with others, feeling the energy of a space filled with dancers. And wouldn’t you know it, on a whim, I waltzed into this gorgeous studio nestled in a quaint backstreet. And oh my goodness, they had the most stunning class - a blend of classical ballet with contemporary flair. Of course, I couldn’t resist a little impromptu twirl.

A visit to Rome wouldn’t be complete without indulging in a spot of shopping. So, this week, I embarked on a sartorial journey in the heart of Rome's vibrant shopping district. Imagine streets teeming with vintage shops overflowing with treasures, elegant boutiques displaying the finest silk fabrics, and leather goods so beautiful, they’d make even the most jaded fashionista swoon!

My first stop was a quirky vintage store, its dusty window display hinting at hidden gems within. After spending an hour, I found a perfect 50s vintage top, crafted in delicate floral lace, for my next pink tutu pairing.

Then, it was onto a charming little boutique with a name so sweet, I had to stop in! “Bella Boutique”, adorned with lush flowers and the most enchanting, inviting display of dresses I’ve ever seen! And trust me, my dear readers, I’ve seen a lot of dresses! But this collection… simply heavenly! My eyes couldn’t believe what they were seeing, and my wallet… well, let’s just say my wallet isn’t a very talkative friend after that day! I left the shop with a stunning, flowy midi skirt in a rich crimson red – I just know it’ll make the most magnificent ensemble when paired with my pink tutu!

Of course, no Rome adventure would be complete without indulging in the city's culinary delights. And oh, darling, have I been indulging! From fluffy pizzas drizzled with olive oil and adorned with fresh herbs to pasta dishes that melt in your mouth… well, it's truly a sensory paradise. The rich aroma of garlic and oregano, the taste of freshly baked bread, and the warm hospitality of the locals, all come together to make this city truly magical.

Speaking of magical, let’s not forget dessert, darling! Tiramisu, gelato, cannoli – I've been making my way through the most heavenly sweet treats, and I have to say, the flavour combinations here are out of this world! Each dessert I try takes me on a taste journey - it’s a perfect finish to any pink-tinted Italian adventure!

And, yes, you guessed it, I haven't forgotten my love of all things pink! While exploring the cobbled streets of Rome, I’ve come across the most enchanting little bakery with the most exquisite collection of pink cakes, macarons, and gelato. Pink raspberry sorbet? You bet! It's all about embracing the little pink touches that make Rome even more magical.

Darlings, it's a whirlwind of memories. This week has been filled with laughter, shopping sprees, delightful dance experiences, and the most amazing food. This is Rome, darling. It's truly a love story, woven together with threads of history, fashion, and the irresistible allure of pink tutus. I've learned a little bit of Italian (enough to say "bella" and "buongiorno", of course!), experienced the most exquisite food, danced like a ballerina in the heart of the city, and explored the most captivating nooks and crannies, all while wearing my signature pink tutu, spreading a bit of love and tulle along the way!
