#PinkTutuRome: Week 19 – The Eternal City in Pink! 💖🇮🇹

Hello darlings!

It’s Wednesday again, and you know what that means! Another delightful #PinkTutuRome adventure to share with you all. Today, I’m whisking you away to the Eternal City itself – Rome! And let me tell you, it’s just as magical as you could possibly imagine.

As you know, I absolutely love train journeys. The gentle rocking, the beautiful countryside whizzing past, and the comforting chink-chink of the tracks… It’s all so utterly delightful. I just have to wear a fabulous outfit for a train ride, naturally. Today I’ve paired my dusty rose, lace tutu with a pale pink cashmere sweater and a white satin ballet slipper inspired handbag.

Rome! Here We Come!

Arriving at Termini Station felt like stepping back in time. This iconic building, all soaring ceilings and marble pillars, just oozed history! And the air itself buzzed with an irresistible energy. I felt a little twinge of excitement. Could the energy of the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain be seeping into my very being?! I could practically feel the fashion history bubbling up all around me.

We (that’s me and my travel buddy, a darling chap named Marcus who absolutely adores my pink tutu! - although I don’t think he gets my fascination with ballet just yet!) settled into our beautiful hotel room, right near the Pantheon. It’s a charming place with high ceilings and a view of the twinkling city lights, and my little tutu has found pride of place hanging from the wardrobe door. It was perfect.

Tutu and Treasures: A Fashion Day Out

Now, Rome isn’t just history and architecture, my dears. It’s a veritable paradise of exquisite fashion and shopping. That said, what other reason would there be to visit Rome on this very date… the 18th of October… apart from... wait for it.... *The launch of the *Autumn/Winter collection of Valentino!!!

Okay, okay, maybe I did slightly over-plan the trip to coincide with that glorious event. But how could any fashionable lady, particularly one who considers pink a key shade for any wardrobe, miss this grand event?! My shopping bag is already starting to bulge with delights.

Today, we headed straight for Via Condotti, Rome’s iconic luxury shopping street. It felt so very "la dolce vita" strolling along those cobbled lanes, past boutiques with names that would make your head spin - Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Fendi… I felt my fashion soul positively purring!

I have a particular fondness for exquisite Italian leather shoes, and today my dear toes were positively spoilt with a pair of glorious, rose-gold, calfskin ballet pumps that could have quite possibly walked off the pages of Vogue. There was simply no choice to be made. I just had to treat myself.

After lunch in a lovely little trattoria (the pasta was heavenly! My darling Marcus was so impressed that he almost touched my tutu!) we spent a very long and happy time exploring the ancient streets of Rome.

The Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain – they were everything I’d imagined and so much more. The ancient history and stories behind these structures resonated with my love for all things artistic.

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a little ballet, my darlings! Luckily, my favorite Romeo and Juliet production was playing at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. How exciting to see the very ballet which inspired my passion for dance being performed so beautifully!

I, of course, wore my blush pink tutu for the evening, adding a touch of whimsy and grace to the sophisticated theatre atmosphere. The performance itself was mesmerizing - the music, the costumes, the athleticism... I just wanted to dance with them.

More adventures to come...

And there you have it, my dearest readers! Another amazing #PinkTutuRome day complete!

I’ve already lined up a visit to the Vatican, where I plan to take some truly spectacular photos for my blog. My pink tutu will of course, make a fabulous appearance as I wander among the marble angels and majestic architecture.

I just love this city! The delicious food, the glorious history, the fashion... It's so easy to lose yourself in the captivating magic of Rome.

Stay tuned, my darlings, for more exciting adventures next Wednesday, as we explore more of this pink-tastic city together! And don’t forget – don’t let anyone tell you a pink tutu isn’t a perfect outfit for Rome, for a trip to the ballet, for your next shopping adventure, or indeed for life!

Until next week!

P.S. I’m hoping to get a special audience with Pope Francis this weekend to ask him what he thinks of pink tutus. Fingers crossed he’s a fan! 💖
