Pink Tutu Rome: A Whirlwind Wednesday (Post #26)
Ciao bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post, straight from the Eternal City itself! I'm feeling particularly energetic this week, as I just finished a fantastic performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma last night - and yes, of course I wore a pink tutu! It felt perfect under the Roman sky. β¨
As you know, my travels are all thanks to my lovely ballet career - I work hard, perform hard, and then get to spend my hard-earned pennies on the things I love. And right now, nothing makes me happier than exploring the dazzling beauty of Rome.
This week's adventure has been all about taking in the vibrant energy of this ancient city. My camera is bursting with pictures of cobbled streets, majestic fountains, and enough gorgeous architecture to make your head spin! Oh, and the food? Don't even get me started! From pasta al ragu to creamy tiramisu, my taste buds are having a field day. π
But let's rewind a bit...
Wednesday 6th December, 1995 - The Day the Pantheon Took My Breath Away
The day began like any other: with a steaming cup of cappuccino and a good dose of Italian sunshine. But it wasn't long before I found myself swept up in the captivating history of Rome. My first stop was the Colosseum - oh, the sheer size of it! I imagined the gladiators fighting in the arena, the cheers of the crowds echoing through the stone, the roar of the lions... Honestly, I'm still buzzing! π¦
After lunch, I popped into the Forum Romanum - what an experience! To walk among the ruins, to see where emperors once walked, where the whispers of history lingered... it was utterly captivating.
But the absolute highlight of the day was my visit to the Pantheon. I mean, seriously, people, the building is breathtakingly beautiful! I stood mesmerized by the intricate dome, the warm light filtering through the oculus, the sense of awe that filled the air.
It's honestly one of those moments that makes you realize how small you are in the grand scheme of things - but also how powerful and connected to the universe you feel at the same time.
And wouldn't you know it? There I was, twirling with glee inside the Pantheon - yep, you guessed it, a pink tutu was my trusty companion! π
A Fashionista's Delight: Shopping for Inspiration
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a little bit of fashion inspiration. Rome is a veritable playground for fashion lovers - and believe me, Iβm more than just a little bit in love with its sartorial delights. ποΈ
I popped into several incredible shops, from independent boutiques showcasing avant-garde designers, to classic Italian brands like Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana. My eyes practically popped out of my head, you could say! I must say, the attention to detail, the use of vibrant colours, the bold shapes and patterns β it's truly a feast for the senses. I came away with a gorgeous new scarf (naturally pink, of course!), a vintage-inspired silk top, and a beautiful handmade leather bag. π
Finding the Magic of Street Art in Rome
Iβm absolutely besotted with the vibrant street art scene in Rome. Itβs all over the city, from cheeky murals to poignant social commentary, splashed across buildings and tucked away in hidden alleyways. π¨ Itβs fascinating to me how these creative works add another layer of character and life to the city.
I snapped a few pics of my favourites: a large-scale painting of a woman with cascading red hair, a satirical piece commenting on modern consumerism, and a truly beautiful, abstract piece on a quiet backstreet. It's not just about the art itself, it's about the artists who pour their heart and soul into their work, making it an expression of their reality. And, let's face it, Romeβs street art is seriously good!
Roman Nights: A Spectacular Performance
The day culminated in an incredible performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. This place has an absolutely beautiful history β I mean, have you seen those ornate ceilings and velvet boxes?! π I had a moment to truly soak up the ambiance before taking my position backstage - it's quite something to be a part of this kind of spectacle!
My performance was a special one β I performed the Swan Lake pas de deux. There I was, with the spotlight on me, and the orchestra playing those beautiful notes, and a roomful of people watching my every move. I felt every fiber of my being pulsate with the music β it was pure magic! And, of course, I did it in my favourite pink tutu, feeling like a true ballerina princess under the dazzling stage lights. π©°β¨

I'm heading to a delicious Roman trattoria for dinner now β there's always a little bit of Italian magic waiting to be uncovered!
And, my dears, if you haven't figured it out yet - it's official! Rome is a city for dreamers, adventurers, and tutu-wearing fashionistas!
