Pink Tutu Rome - #32: A Dance Through Ancient Wonders (17th January 1996)

Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, reporting live from the Eternal City - Rome, to be precise. I've just arrived, and oh my, is this city already charming me pink! The train journey here was pure bliss โ€“ I love train journeys! My comfy carriage felt like my personal stagecoach as we rolled through the countryside, my tutu swirling around me like a ballerina on pointe. I even caught some of my favourite Italian movies to get me in the mood! I arrived at Termini station in style โ€“ my suitcase bursting with a delightful blend of pink and black - a splash of the Parisian chic, topped off with my trusty pink tutu! I'm ready to explore.

Rome, you are already making me feel like I'm dancing in a timeless dream. The ancient ruins, the bustling streets, the friendly locals - itโ€™s pure magic. The aroma of freshly baked bread and the melodies of street musicians weave a harmonious symphony. Even the cobblestones feel like the rhythmic beat of my ballet shoes.

Now, Iโ€™m all about balance โ€“ a delightful balance between historical sights and delightful fashion. First, on my agenda - a whirlwind exploration of the Colosseum! I'll admit, itโ€™s even grander in real life! The mighty amphitheatre stands as a majestic testament to the power and beauty of the Roman Empire. Its weathered facade whispering stories of gladiators, emperors, and epic battles. You can almost picture the gladiators and emperors strutting their stuff. I stood there imagining the costumes of these forgotten figures โ€“ probably something fierce and grand with dramatic headpieces and billowing robes. It was so tempting to twirl around in my pink tutu right there, on the very ground where so much history was made!

I'm staying in a charming boutique hotel, just a short walk from the Pantheon. As soon as I checked in, I threw on my stylish outfit (imagine black trousers, a silk pink top with my trademark tutu, and oh-so-elegant ankle boots) and headed out to the vibrant Pantheon. It is breathtaking โ€“ the vast domed space is like stepping into another world, an oasis of calmness amid the bustling city. The soft golden light streaming through the central oculus feels like it was specially designed to spotlight my perfect twirl. There is an incredible stillness inside, and it made me want to dance. To move with a grace as effortless as the sunbeams slicing through the space.

Of course, no Roman adventure would be complete without the divine pleasure of Italian gelato! I'm talking pistachio-mint swirls with strawberry bites and a delicate dusting of almond flakes. My pink tutu paired wonderfully with the brightly coloured flavours and my inner child was just so happy. I did my best not to spill any gelato on my perfect outfit.

Rome is calling my inner artist out to play! After all, where better to soak up the culture, inspiration, and even fashion, than in the birthplace of the gladiators and emperors? Tomorrow, I'm heading to the Galleria Borghese, to lose myself in the incredible masterpieces of Bernini and Caravaggio. My pink tutu and my imagination are definitely ready to be ignited. Stay tuned for a spectacular fashionista's take on classic sculpture. Itโ€™s time to let my tutu fly!

You know where to find me, dear readers - right here every Wednesday, www.pink-tutu.com โ€“ spreading the pink tutu love and keeping my dance with the world ever-present.

Until then, Stay fashionable and donโ€™t be afraid to twirl!

Ciao Bella!
