Pink Tutu Rome: Post #42 - La Dolce Vita in a Tutu!

Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink tulle and Roman adventures! Welcome back to my weekly Roman escapade, your one-stop shop for all things tutu-licious in the Eternal City.

Today is the 27th of March, 1996, and the sun is shining gloriously, setting the scene for another delightful day of explorations. As you know, I absolutely adore a good train journey - there's something so magical about watching the world whizz past, especially when you're dressed in a pink tutu! It truly makes you feel like a ballerina soaring through the countryside, a little bit of magic and whimsy sprinkled across the landscape.

Today's travel plans take me to the heart of Rome, a visit I’ve been looking forward to for weeks. You see, I’ve been brushing up on my Italian (although I’m still at a very beginner stage – just “Buongiorno”, “Grazie” and a whole lot of pointing and gesticulating) because my absolute favourite Italian ballerina, Isabella Roselli, is performing at Teatro dell'Opera! This is going to be a magical evening and I can barely contain my excitement!

Now, no journey to Rome would be complete without a little indulgence in the world of fashion. Yesterday, I discovered the most divine little boutique tucked away on a cobbled street. It's brimming with the most exquisite fabrics and colours, and I simply had to treat myself to a new scarf – a blush pink, naturally! It's made of silk and cashmere, and it feels like a feather against my skin.

Later, I strolled through the bustling streets of Trastevere, its ancient buildings and terracotta roofs painted in warm golden hues. I felt utterly transported back in time, surrounded by cobbled alleys, ancient churches, and charming cafes filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and strong coffee. There is just something so captivating about the way Rome seamlessly blends the modern and the ancient, the bustle of the city with a timeless serenity.

But of course, no visit to Rome would be complete without sampling the delicious cuisine! I had the most delightful lunch at a little trattoria hidden in a narrow backstreet. They serve the most authentic Roman pasta dishes – I treated myself to "cacio e pepe" and a glass of chilled white wine. The flavours were heavenly, and I found myself savouring each bite, watching the world go by from my little table outside.

As for the rest of my week, well, there’s no shortage of things to keep a pink-tutu wearing ballerina occupied! On Saturday, I’m taking a cooking class, learning how to make the most delicious pasta dishes – maybe I’ll even get a few tips on how to make a perfect pizza! And then, on Sunday, I’ll be strolling through the beautiful Borghese Gallery and Gardens, followed by a decadent gelato and a stroll through Piazza Navona. It’s a life of pure indulgence, darling!

Oh, and you know me, I can’t resist a good ballet class. I’m planning to slip into my pointe shoes and take a class at Teatro Argentina - what a glorious space for a little practice!

So there you have it, my darlings. A glimpse into my week in the City of Seven Hills! I'm soaking it all in, and making memories that will last a lifetime, a little bit of pink tutu magic in the heart of Rome! Don’t forget to check in next Wednesday for more of my Roman escapades, you know the address: www.pink-tutu.com!

Arrivederci, darlings! And remember, always wear a pink tutu. It might just save the world!
