#PinkTutuRome - Week 56: La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu! 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao, darlings! 💋 Emma here, back from the magical streets of Rome! This week, I'm bursting with excitement to share my Italian adventures with you all.
As always, you know I couldn't resist packing my pink tutu for this trip. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a splash of pink, would it? 💖 Rome is a city that practically demands to be explored with a little flair!
And let me tell you, my darling tutus made quite the splash! Imagine, strutting through the Roman Forum, its ancient stones whispering secrets, and me twirling in my pink tulle, a dash of modern day whimsy against the historical grandeur. The locals were absolutely captivated! They were smiling and waving, and even the pigeons seemed to pause mid-flight to admire the spectacle!
Train travel is life!We made our way to Rome via train, of course! What else would a ballerina do? I simply adore the romanticism of travelling by train. It’s the perfect way to soak in the scenery and enjoy the journey, not just the destination. Plus, it allows you to embrace your inner diva. I was quite the sight with my pink tutu flowing in the wind, all aboard the Italian train! A good dose of “Pink Tutu-ness” adds a touch of elegance to any travel experience, trust me.
Speaking of eleganza, I have to tell you all about my shoe-shopping adventures! Rome is simply a haven for exquisite footwear. I just couldn't resist picking up some gorgeous strappy heels - they will be absolutely perfect for my next performance, whether I'm twirling in the studio or dazzling on a Parisian stage! The Italian artisans are simply incredible - their passion for their craft shines through in every stitch. It’s a feeling I can definitely relate to, with my own little pink tutu obsession.
A Night at the Teatro dell’Opera!Of course, my visit to Rome would be incomplete without experiencing the magic of Italian opera. The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is truly an architectural masterpiece, all ornate gold and opulent chandeliers, a breathtaking backdrop for any ballet. I took in the incredible "Carmen," the performance a fiery masterpiece, and my heart simply melted! It reminded me how deeply ballet moves my soul and how fortunate I am to have this incredible artform in my life.
After the show, we found a quaint trattoria with outdoor tables tucked away in a cobblestoned alley, sipping espresso under a twinkling sky. Italy really knows how to do romance - the warmth of the evening, the charming ambience, and the exquisite Italian gelato we had for dessert… truly unforgettable.
But you know what truly captured my heart, besides all those incredible Italian things? It was a tiny boutique tucked away on a side street, bursting with bright colours, all silk scarves and beaded bags, just perfect for accessorizing any Pink Tutu ensemble! It had the most charming owner, who practically lived and breathed fashion! He took me into his workshop and shared his passion for his craft, talking about the origins of the fabrics and the stories behind the designs.
I just knew I had to buy one, of course! It’s a little memento of this fantastic trip and it’s already inspired some of my newest looks for future blog posts - stay tuned for some killer pink tutu/silk scarf pairings!
Back to Reality! As I'm typing this, I'm back in dear old Derbyshire. And while I miss the Italian sun, the sound of laughter on cobblestone streets, the rich aromas of coffee and pasta wafting through the air… you know what else I miss? Performing!
You guys probably know I fund my travels through ballet performances, and trust me, when I get back from an incredible trip like this one, it gets my creativity flowing in leaps and bounds! I'm already working on my next choreography, inspired by the beautiful and vibrant city of Rome.
My Pink Tutu dance shoes will be getting plenty of practice! 🩰
And remember, you can read about all my travels right here on my Pink Tutu blog, every Wednesday. I can't wait to share my next adventure with you all!
Remember to live in pink, darlings. Keep those tutus twirling! 💋
With love,
Emma xx
