As always, my trusty pink tutu is packed – it’s simply impossible to leave it behind, and, wouldn’t you know it, I’m finding this glorious garment is a conversation starter everywhere I go!

The Italian Train Journey
This week's journey to Rome involved, you guessed it, a delightful train adventure! Nothing beats the rhythmic chugging of the train and the picturesque scenery rushing past. My journey from Derbyshire started with a train to London, followed by a high-speed train straight to Rome. The time spent on board wasn’t just about getting from point A to point B, but rather an opportunity to observe, create, and reflect. I even got into a rather delightful conversation with an elderly gentleman about the virtues of wearing pink – let’s just say it involved him reminiscing about his late wife, her fondness for the colour, and how even she would approve of a pink tutu, should she be alive today!
Roman Arrival and the Enchanting Spanish Steps
As soon as we arrived in Rome, I knew we were in for a treat! The train station itself was buzzing with a mix of Italian charm and a bit of Roman mayhem! We hopped into a taxi and took a spin through the labyrinthine city streets. Everywhere we went, we were surrounded by history and a certain captivating Italian swagger.
Our hotel, situated just a stone’s throw from the iconic Spanish Steps, offered a view that took my breath away! These famous steps, a breathtaking masterpiece of architecture, are a truly stunning sight, especially with a scoop of creamy gelato in hand. Just imagining Audrey Hepburn skipping down those steps in "Roman Holiday" made me feel like I was stepping right into a classic movie.
Finding Pink in the Heart of Rome
Rome is a veritable fashion haven, and I, of course, had to embrace my inner shopaholic! The vibrant shops lining the cobbled streets showcased exquisite clothing, accessories, and the most beautiful shoes imaginable. Now, let’s be honest, nothing could have made me happier than finding the most perfect pink fedora perched right at the front of a charming shop window. This gorgeous hat is a must-have for my collection, and I simply can’t wait to add it to all my future ensembles!
Tutu Dreams: Exploring Ballet in Rome
This week, Rome’s dance scene became my obsession! From a charming little studio tucked away in a side street where I indulged in a delightful ballet class, to witnessing an enchanting performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, my ballet-loving heart couldn’t have been happier. The ballet performance featured breathtaking choreography and costumes. I felt a connection to the dancers as they danced, graceful and light as feathers. And it reminded me of the pure magic and wonder of ballet – a language that transcends words and speaks directly to the soul.
Delicious Discoveries: Rome's Culinary Gems
You cannot talk about Italy without talking about the food. I'm a firm believer that food should be an art form and here, it's truly a symphony of flavours! Every bite, from the aromatic pizza with its crispy crust to the pasta, rich and creamy, has been a gastronomic journey. My absolute favourite is the gelato - oh, the creamy textures and the delightful explosion of flavour with each lick!
A Night in Rome: Rooftop Magic
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over Rome, my boyfriend and I headed to the rooftop of our hotel for a magical night under the stars. From this vantage point, we had a panoramic view of the city. It was the perfect way to cap off the day and let our imaginations run wild, lost in the grandeur of this timeless city.

This trip has been filled with adventure, laughter, and moments that will stay etched in my heart forever. Each day has brought a new discovery, a new thrill, and a new memory to cherish. From the enchanting ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, whispering tales of bygone eras, to the tranquil charm of the Borghese Gallery, home to breathtaking Renaissance masterpieces, this city is a constant surprise.
