Pink Tutu Rome #58: Ciao Bella! From the Eternal City with Love!
Wednesday, 17th July, 1996
Ciao bellas! Can you believe it's Wednesday again already? It feels like I've been here in Rome for weeks, and I've barely scratched the surface of all this glorious city has to offer!
This week's Pink Tutu post is coming to you live from a charming little cafe tucked away in a cobblestone alley. As I sip on a heavenly cappuccino (seriously, this coffee is a whole other level!), I'm surrounded by the intoxicating aromas of freshly baked pastries and the cacophony of lively Italian chatter. The sunshine is warm, the air is filled with laughter and life, and the world seems just a little bit more beautiful in this magical place.
My Roman Odyssey
Now, I know what you're all thinking - why the obsession with pink tutus in Rome, of all places? Well, let's just say this city is an ode to colour and extravagance. The ancient ruins stand proudly against a backdrop of bright bougainvillea, vibrant street art bursts out from unexpected corners, and even the pigeons sport a certain chic flair! You could say it's the perfect setting for a little pink tutu magic.
This past week has been a whirlwind of culture, fashion, and frankly, a little too much gelato (oops!). But it's been a fabulous journey nonetheless. I spent the weekend catching a phenomenal performance by the Rome Opera Ballet, mesmerized by the graceful movements and the grandeur of the theatre itself.
Of course, a trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without indulging in some seriously spectacular shopping! I've found myself completely lost in the vibrant markets, from the traditional leather goods in the Campo de' Fiori to the vintage treasures nestled amongst the hidden boutiques. I even snagged myself the most divine blush-pink scarf adorned with tiny golden beads - it practically begs to be worn with a pink tutu!
Rome, I Love You!
Every corner of this city seems to whisper secrets and beckon you to explore. I've strolled along the Via dei Condotti, marveling at the haute couture windows of the world's most prestigious designers. I've marveled at the awe-inspiring Colosseum, a timeless reminder of Roman power and ambition. I've wandered through the charming Trastevere district, where tiny trattorias and cobbled lanes whisper of ancient history and warm hospitality.
And yes, dear reader, I've been twirling through the Roman squares, letting the pink tutu whisk me away on a wave of pure joy!
Finding My Tutu Soul Mate
One of the things I love most about traveling is meeting fellow pink tutu enthusiasts! On my way to the Trevi Fountain yesterday, I stumbled upon a small ballet studio tucked away in a charming courtyard. They welcomed me with open arms, and I had the absolute delight of sharing the studio with a group of vibrant, talented Roman ballerinas. There was something incredibly magical about finding kindred spirits who share my love for the art of dance, and, of course, the beauty of a pink tutu.
This week, I'm looking forward to diving into the art scene in Rome. There are whispers of hidden ateliers and street art exhibitions I can't wait to discover. I'm also determined to visit the Vatican, a majestic masterpiece that will undoubtedly leave me in awe. And, of course, there's always time for more shopping, maybe a little fashion inspiration for my next tutu creation!
Until next week, my dearest Pink Tutu followers,
From the enchanting Eternal City,
Emma xx

P.P.S. Itโs Thursday, 18th July, in Rome! We're about to take a trip on the Metro to get back to our hotel after exploring a bustling little local market this morning, bursting with artisan stalls. Today we're headed for the Pantheon! More about it in next weeks blog.
Ciao bellas!
