Pink Tutu Rome: Week 65 – Bella Italia! 🇮🇹

Ciao, darlings!

It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, back with another instalment of Pink Tutu Rome! This week, I'm waltzing my way through the cobbled streets of the Eternal City, taking in all the sights, sounds, and of course, the fabulous fashion!

As you know, my love affair with travel goes hand in hand with my devotion to tutus. Every trip is a new adventure, a chance to twirl my way through diverse cultures and embrace the magic of a new place.

Rome, though, has captured my heart in a way I never imagined. There's just something about the energy here, the rich history whispering through every stone, the scent of espresso and pastries wafting through the air – it's pure, unadulterated bliss!

I arrived on Wednesday, after a scenic train journey through the heart of Europe. You know how much I love the railway. There's something about that rhythmic click-clack of the wheels against the track, that gentle swaying of the carriage – it always inspires a dreamy, almost poetic state of mind!

This week's blog is a little different – I'm ditching the usual ballet-focused topics for a moment to focus on the captivating beauty of Rome! Of course, I'll be sharing some of my favourite ballet moments later, but first, let's indulge in a little Italian extravagance, shall we?

A Taste of Rome:

Food! Oh, the food! Let's start with the essentials, shall we? From the divine smell of freshly baked focaccia, the pungent, earthy aroma of freshly-ground espresso, to the creamy richness of ricotta, I'm absolutely smitten. You wouldn't believe the array of gelato flavours I've sampled – pistachio, limoncello, even a unique flavour with rosemary! Every bite is a sensory explosion.

Shopping: I’ve already discovered a vintage store bursting with leather handbags and silk scarves. I couldn’t resist a beautiful ruby red clutch with an antique clasp. It screams Rome and elegance!

Sights: So far, I've already climbed to the top of the Spanish Steps, enjoyed the awe-inspiring view of the Roman Forum, and taken a serene stroll around the tranquil gardens of the Borghese Gallery. Let me tell you, seeing these iconic sights in person is something truly magical!

Pink Tutu in Rome:

Let's face it, wearing a pink tutu in Rome is like wearing a beacon of bright, girly joy amidst the romantic, historic charm. People smile at me, snap photos, and ask where I’m from (you’d be surprised how many people in Italy know what a tutu is! ). My pink tutu, of course, fits perfectly into the flamboyant spirit of the city, and I’ve received countless compliments. After all, it’s always fun to add a bit of sparkle and whimsy, wouldn’t you agree?

Balancing Beauty with Ballet:

Though Rome is captivating my senses and my attention, my ballet soul hasn't been neglected! Yesterday, I visited the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and managed to get a backstage tour. I've even signed up for a drop-in ballet class, to practice my pliés amongst fellow passionate dancers!

I’m really excited about this weekend. I have a ticket to a spectacular opera at the Teatro dell’Opera! I'm especially eager to see what everyone is wearing. I have my little black dress planned and a touch of sparkle for an evening of fabulous glamour. I'll let you know how it goes in next week's post!

Until next week, darlings, keep dancing and keep shining! Remember, the world is a stage and there’s room for every colour, every tutu!

Sending you lots of love and pink sparkles,

Emma
