Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella!

#PinkTutuRome, Wednesday 1997-06-18, Post Number 106

Buongiorno, darling! This week I'm swirling into the Eternal City! You see, as I’m writing this I'm perched on a bench in Piazza Navona, the sunshine warming my face as the air vibrates with the sounds of life – children playing, musicians busking, the gentle thrum of Italian conversation. The air smells like the most glorious mix of freshly baked pastries, creamy coffee, and that slightly earthy aroma of Roman history! I must confess, darling, that even my Pink Tutu has gotten a little swept up in the Roman magic, looking a little more worn and lived in than usual – I’m even contemplating a tiny little gelato stain, just to fully immerse myself in the flavour of the city!

You might be thinking: “Emma, in Rome? And wearing a tutu?” You wouldn’t believe the stares I get sometimes, dear! A ballerina in a tutu on the Roman streets might not be the usual sight, but let me tell you, it's been the most amazing, whimsical adventure! The sheer beauty of Rome, its grand churches, the ruins of its past, and the way life pulses on its streets - it's like a magical storybook come to life! I feel like I’m dancing in the pages of a history book, each step a revelation!

Now, before I forget, let's have a quick fashion update shall we? My dear, the clothes shopping here is absolutely divine! My pink tulle bag has a new coat of "Roman Chic". Just picture the most luscious silks, delicate lace, and a vibrant explosion of colours, all under a canopy of bright Italian sunshine. It's enough to make a girl (even a girl who’s a bit obsessed with pink tutus!) weak at the knees!

The plan, darlings, is to visit the most captivating corners of Rome – the Trevi Fountain (where I’m already daydreaming about throwing a few coins!), the Colosseum (and, perhaps, a dramatic ballerina pose against its imposing silhouette?), the Pantheon (an architectural masterpiece for sure!), and of course, a quick dance on the Spanish Steps with a gelato in hand – can you even imagine?! I’m going to be painting the city with my own Pink Tutu adventures, every day is a magical opportunity for photoshoots, blog posts and even impromptu dance classes in some of the most stunningly beautiful backdrops on the planet.

So, here is what my week in Rome looked like:

Wednesday, June 18th:

  • Travel by train to Rome! Oh, the joy of travelling by train through Europe – a slower, more picturesque way to journey, don't you think? I've settled in, found a cosy carriage (a quiet one, just in case my Tutu catches a fellow traveler’s eye!) and it’s the start of another delightful, tutu-tastic adventure!

  • Afternoon Delight: I found the most adorable little pastry shop nestled on a cobbled street. Oh my, the sweets! Such heavenly flavours! (I mean, come on, how could I resist a beautiful éclair - particularly one that’s blushing a glorious pink?) And the teacups, darling, so tiny and delicate! It was truly like a scene straight from my favourite ballet!

  • My Evening in Rome: Tonight, it's a special treat – the opera at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! (Oh darling, I already feel the thrill in the air!). The dress I’m wearing is simply exquisite – black with just a touch of shimmering silver (an ode to Rome's nightlife), of course! My hair? A crown of intricate braids with a single delicate pink flower for a hint of romance. And my shoes? They match my mood perfectly: pointy-toed pumps with a dainty little silver buckle – sleek, elegant, and undeniably glamorous. Let the night commence! I’m even contemplating a cheeky "pink-tutu-pose" by the Trevi fountain...just you wait for that Instagram post!

Stay tuned, darlings, as this Pink Tutu takes Rome by storm!

Until next week!

Yours always,

Emma xoxo
