Pink Tutu Rome: #107 - Dolce Vita Dreams in the Eternal City

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind tour of Rome, a city that truly lived up to its reputation as the Eternal City! ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿ’ƒ This week's Pink Tutu journey is a bit of a dream come true. It's one thing to twirl around in a pink tutu in Derbyshire, but dancing through the ancient streets of Romeโ€ฆ well, it's truly magical. This post is going to be extra-long, so buckle up your tutus and let's go on a whirlwind tour of all things Rome, from pasta perfection to breathtaking architecture, and yes, even a ballet show or two! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As always, the train journey to Rome was an adventure. My trusty pink backpack was bursting with sequins, tights and a rather fetching coral pink tutu that I'd specially chosen for my Roman escapade. The view through the train window was a feast for the eyes โ€“ the rolling Italian countryside, dappled with sunshine, really set the scene for a week of dolce vita. I even met a delightful young lady, Francesca, who was a professional ballerina, performing at a stunning theatre in Venice. Imagine my delight! It's such a wonderful thing to meet like-minded souls who understand the joy of a good twirl!

Rome is simply teeming with history, art and culture! From the Colosseum, that epic, iconic arena where gladiators once fought, to the Roman Forum, a sprawling complex of ancient buildings, every corner feels like stepping into a history book. I couldn't resist striking a pose in front of the Colosseum, and of course, my pink tutu made for the most magnificent contrast against the weathered stone!

Rome also boasts an incredible art scene, especially the Vatican! We saw Michelangelo's "Pieta," which left us speechless, and Raphael's breathtaking frescoes in the Vatican Museums. Oh, how I wished I could bring my own easel and paint brush and try to capture even a fraction of their beauty! And let's not forget the Vatican Gardens. The cascading flowers and lush green landscapes were a perfect setting for a little spontaneous twirl session! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But it wasn't just the history and art that captivated me. The shopping was divine! I had a delightful time browsing through the boutique shops in Trastevere, a vibrant neighbourhood known for its bohemian charm. I came home with an entire collection of stylish Italian scarves (one even adorned with a dancing ballerina, my favourite!) and a truly elegant silk blouse perfect for a formal ballet event. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And speaking of ballet, how could I possibly leave Rome without a night at the Teatro dellโ€™Opera? Iโ€™d heard wonderful things about the Rome Opera Ballet and let me tell you, it exceeded every expectation! It was an absolutely breathtaking spectacle, and I truly believe that seeing a ballet in such an historic setting only heightens the experience. And donโ€™t even get me started on the costumes! I almost wanted to leap onto the stage myself! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And whatโ€™s a visit to Rome without sampling the culinary delights? The food was heavenly, even my taste buds were doing pirouettes! Every meal was a symphony of flavour, and I discovered the beauty of true Italian cuisine. Pasta? Divine. Pizza? Simply irresistible. And gelatoโ€ฆ well, words simply fail me. It's enough to make even the most seasoned ballet dancer indulge!

And of course, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in the beautiful, stylish clothing. There was this enchanting little shop in the Piazza Navona that had an amazing display of gorgeous gowns and accessories, many adorned with the most beautiful floral prints. Oh, I have to confess I almost purchased the most enchanting, turquoise blue, floor length gown but I knew it wouldn't quite work with my wardrobe! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The journey to Rome has certainly given me inspiration! The Italian sense of fashion, the stunning architecture, the delectable cuisine... and not to forget the dazzling performances โ€“ all these have instilled in me a deeper understanding of elegance and style!

Remember, darlings, it's all about expressing yourself, be it through your wardrobe, your passions, your travels or just your way of seeing the world. And never, ever be afraid to let your inner pink tutu out!

Stay tuned, darlings! Next week, we're heading for a weekend escape toโ€ฆ (drumroll!)โ€ฆ Florence! ๐Ÿš„๐ŸŒธ

Until then, keep twirling and remember, the world is your stage!

Love,

Emma xxx
