Pink Tutu Rome: Post 112 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday, 1997-07-30

Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, writing to you from the Eternal City itself - Rome! Can you believe it? This tutu-wearing ballerina is living la dolce vita in the land of pasta, pizza, and gladiators. The energy here is electrifying, the air thick with history, and the sun - oh, the sun - is shining bright!

Let's rewind a bit… It was a balmy Tuesday evening when I arrived in Rome after a lovely train journey from Florence. It’s something I’ve always loved about traveling; the train ride allows you to soak in the scenery, let your mind wander, and indulge in some proper daydreaming. I actually spotted a woman in a fetching pink floral dress with a red leather bag on my journey. I don’t think I was the only one who thought her ensemble was delightful, though my eyes are always on the lookout for anything in pink, of course!

Rome itself is a symphony of colors, sounds, and aromas. My senses are overwhelmed, in the best way possible, by the beautiful sights - think cobbled streets, stunning ancient architecture, fountains gushing forth in all their glory, and flower stalls bursting with vibrant hues. It feels like stepping into a Renaissance painting, don't you think?

But my absolute favourite part of the whole city? Well, aside from all the amazing gelato (have I told you about how much I love Italian gelato? It's life-changing, trust me!) it’s got to be the vibrant street life! It’s an absolute whirlwind of activity: vendors hawking their wares, street performers putting on a show, and people of all walks of life going about their day. It’s exhilarating. And you know what, a good performance or two wouldn't be amiss! There’s something special about being surrounded by the spirit of performance art, isn’t there? Makes you want to twirl and leap right along!

Speaking of performance art, it’s a huge part of what allows me to live this fantastic life, this life that involves tutus and travels, all whilst pursuing my ballet passions! Did you know that I just recently finished a brilliant run of Swan Lake performances in my hometown of Derbyshire? Not to boast, but the critics were swooning! And it’s performances like this that allow me to explore and create amazing memories like the one I’m creating here in Rome.

And talking about memories, this Wednesday I plan on conquering the Colosseum. It's a huge thing on my list - I've always dreamed of visiting this historical marvel. They say gladiators battled in this very arena! Can you imagine the roar of the crowd? Oh, wouldn't it be a scene worthy of a ballet? Maybe my next production? Something with capes, swords, and tutus, perhaps? I shall mull over the details. After all, a girl's got to keep her mind active!

And speaking of active, the evening will find me at a lovely local restaurant, savouring a scrumptious Roman dinner. Nothing like authentic Italian cuisine, darlings! And as a finale to my day, I'm off to see a magnificent show - it's a ballet performance of La Bayadère at the Teatro dell’Opera. I’m beyond excited for a little dose of ballet brilliance in the heart of Rome! It will be divine!

And remember darlings, a splash of pink never hurts! Perhaps Rome would be perfect for a bit of "Pink Tutu Rome" street theatre performance. Just a little flash of fun and whimsy in this already magnificent city. Imagine my graceful leaps around the ancient ruins in a flowing, vibrant pink tutu. A perfect addition to my little Roman adventures! Wouldn't it be glorious?

That's all for this week, my dearest readers! Until next Wednesday, remember to live your life in a way that sparks joy. Wear your tutus with confidence, embrace your inner ballerina, and don’t forget to spread a little pink magic wherever you go. And remember, a pink tutu can be just what you need to transform any day into an unforgettable experience.

Until next Wednesday, darling!

Ciao bella, from Emma in Rome!
