Pink Tutu Rome: A Ballerina's Whirl Through the Eternal City (Blog Post #134)

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, and I'm so thrilled to be reporting to you live from the magnificent, magical city of Rome! This Wednesday, December 31st 1997, feels utterly special, filled with the scent of ancient history and the excitement of the New Year.

My latest train journey to Rome was an absolute delight. I swear, every journey across Europe brings me closer to my dream - to have everyone rocking a pink tutu! Today, as I gazed at the breathtaking Italian countryside, a young gentleman on the train, completely charmed by my dazzling pink tutu, told me he'd always thought he could dance better than the ballerina at his local theatre! Now that's what I call inspiration. I gave him a wink and shared a little tutu wisdom. "You can, darling! It's all about finding the right steps and expressing yourself," I exclaimed, to which he blushingly agreed, while a cute, bubbly school girl wearing a tiny sparkly ballet costume whispered, "He's definitely got the moves!" See, even the littlest ones know what I'm all about - tutus and dreams, baby!

Rome! Oh Rome! My darling city of love, culture, and stunning fashion! As I arrived, I was swept up in the whirlwind of charm, from the elegant fountains to the friendly smiles of the Romans. Every corner whispered with history, each cobblestone echoing centuries of stories. I couldn't help but think about the countless ballerinas who may have graced these very streets - what an enchanting thought!

I know what you're thinking: Rome is the ultimate destination for foodies, and you're absolutely right! After checking into my chic little hotel in the heart of Rome, I indulged in a delightful lunch, a plate of the most beautiful pasta carbonara I've ever seen! I could tell it was made with love, each bite an explosion of cheesy, salty, creamy deliciousness.

A Day in the Colosseum:

You can't visit Rome without taking a peek at the Colosseum. I decided to go for a leisurely wander in the late afternoon when the sun bathed the arena in golden light, casting long, dramatic shadows across the ancient stones. The Colosseum's sheer size, the scale of it, is humbling - it reminds you of the power and tenacity of ancient Roman civilization.

Of course, I wouldn't be true to my tutu persona if I hadn't done a little impromptu performance. Imagine, darlings: me, twirling amidst the echoes of gladiatorial battles, a whirlwind of pink tutu against the grey stone. Just think about it, you'll see why I had to. I captured the whole experience on my camera, which you can see on the Pink Tutu website in my latest "Travel Diary" photo album! It was absolute magic.

Roman Romance and Fashion:

Tonight, my love for ballet led me to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The opera house itself was stunning - a masterpiece of architectural elegance, gilded and adorned with beautiful sculptures. This evening's performance of "La Traviata" was an emotional rollercoaster, leaving me with tears of joy and a heart full of warmth. The ballet was breathtaking. Each step, each arabesque, told a story of love and longing, set against the backdrop of a romantic Italy. I couldn't help but want to get up and join the performance!

Before the performance, I took a little time to explore the shops lining the streets. You guys know my weakness: the shopping spree! It was hard not to buy everything, so I settled for a gorgeous pink scarf (with sparkly little ballet shoes) to accentuate my pink tutu look, a pair of bright red leather ballet flats, perfect for my waltzing through the city, and a little vintage hat adorned with a playful feather, for a touch of Parisian chic. The shopping, like the ballet, filled me with a joy and a thrill - what could be better?

A New Year, A New Chapter:

As the evening deepened, I felt a wave of anticipation wash over me. It's New Year's Eve in Rome, darlings! The streets will soon be alive with joyous laughter and twinkling lights. Tonight, as I celebrate with my trusty pink tutu, I'm taking time to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the future. I know I'll spend some time on my New Year's resolution: convincing everyone in Derbyshire to don their own pink tutus. After all, who can resist a bit of pink magic?

Pink Tutu, New Year:

2018 promises to be another magical adventure for me! I'm already dreaming of my next big trip - perhaps Paris? Berlin? I'll keep you posted on my plans! I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for your unwavering support of my dream: to inspire everyone to embrace their own inner ballerina, whether it's through fashion, dance, or simply a playful sense of style.

Until next Wednesday, stay pink and keep dancing!
