Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - Post #150

Wednesday 22nd April 1998

Oh, my darling readers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, post number 150! It feels like just yesterday I was twirling my way around Derby, dreaming of far-off lands and the magic of ballet under Italian skies. Now, here I am, living that dream in the Eternal City itself!

And let me tell you, Rome is everything I hoped for and more. The ancient ruins, the vibrant squares, the delicious food, the warm sunshine... It's like stepping straight into a fairytale. And guess what? It's all just as fabulous when you're wearing a pink tutu!

Train Journeys & Tutu Twirls

I journeyed here by train, of course. The thrill of watching the world blur past the window while I admire my reflection in the carriage window... It's simply divine. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite as satisfying as stepping off a train, my pink tutu billowing around me, ready to conquer the day. I mean, darling, you wouldn't catch me on a boring old aeroplane! That's not how we pink tutu girls roll.

Exploring the Colosseum

Today, I decided to explore the Colosseum. It's truly breathtaking! The sheer scale of the place is awe-inspiring, and I can just imagine the gladiatorial combats that took place there. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a touch of pink tutu to the scene. Picture me, twirling and leaping against the backdrop of these ancient ruins, bringing a splash of colour to this historical monument. Oh, it was truly a moment I'll never forget!

Shopping and Shopping Some More

No trip to Rome is complete without a shopping spree. I found myself drawn to the little boutiques in the Trastevere district. So much gorgeous fashion, darling! Silk scarves, delicate jewellery, leather handbags… And I swear I spotted the most incredible pair of ruby red ballet shoes! Let's just say I didn't leave empty-handed. (And who could blame me, really?)

The Beauty of Ballet in Rome

Now, my heart truly skipped a beat when I stumbled across a poster advertising a performance of La Bayadère at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! The music, the costumes, the skill, the emotion... My darling readers, you can't imagine! It was simply exquisite, and it rekindled my passion for the art of ballet like nothing else. I even managed to snag a few pictures with some of the dancers - just me, a couple of ballerinas, and their glorious costumes in a sea of pink. Oh, what a magical moment!

Rome, Oh, Rome…

Rome, my darling, you have stolen my heart. Every day brings a new discovery, a new wonder, a new opportunity to feel the magic of this ancient city. And I can't wait to share more of my adventures with you.

Next week's adventures

Next week, I'll be venturing into the Vatican, with my trusty pink tutu in tow, of course! Imagine the picture: A ballerina amidst Renaissance masterpieces and awe-inspiring architecture. It's sure to be a spectacle!

Stay tuned, my darling readers. I've got so much more to share with you from my Pink Tutu Rome adventures. Until next Wednesday, darling, keep twirling and keep spreading the joy of the pink tutu.

**Yours always,

Emma x**
