Pink Tutu Rome: Post 185 - Buon Natale, Roma!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the Eternal City - Rome! The festive season is truly in full swing here, and I must say, I'm absolutely smitten with the Italian Christmas spirit. Every corner is decked out with sparkling lights, twinkling trees, and charming decorations that make even the most jaded soul feel the magic of Christmas. I've been touring around the city, and oh my goodness, Rome is truly breathtaking this time of year.

But before I get to all the festivities, let's catch up on my adventures, shall we?

Journey to Rome: A Train Journey Dream

Now, as you know, I love a good train journey. There's something truly romantic and charming about gliding across the landscape, watching the world whizz by, lost in a good book or indulging in some of my favourite pink snacks. My trip from Derbyshire was pure bliss, all those wonderful pink fluffy clouds, the quaint little villages zipping past, it was a fairytale ride! And arriving in Rome with a little pink sparkle in my eyes made me feel like Cinderella stepping off a carriage.

Pink Tutus in the Piazza

So, as soon as I landed in Rome, I made a beeline to the famous Spanish Steps. They are simply majestic! I put on my newest tutu - a shimmering pink confection with layers upon layers of tulle. It really sparkled under the sun, which, for December, has been truly glorious. I stood there taking it all in, a symphony of colour and architecture, the hustle and bustle of tourists below, all whilst feeling utterly pink and proud.

The streets of Rome have definitely provided some outfit inspiration! The Italian style is just so chic and effortless - think long coats, beautiful scarves, and vibrant colours - definitely something I can adapt for my own tutu style. Oh, and don't get me started on the fabulous hats!

Christmas Markets, Lights, and Treats!

Of course, no trip to Rome at Christmas would be complete without a visit to some of the stunning Christmas markets. Each market has its own unique character. I particularly loved Campo de' Fiori. The scent of roasting chestnuts and the festive glow of the market stalls made it a true winter wonderland. I also picked up some lovely pink baubles and sparkly decorations for my little Christmas tree back in the flat I rented in the city center.

The Ballerina's Paradise: Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

Now, every true ballerina needs a trip to a breathtaking opera house, and I am thrilled to report that Rome delivered. I saw "La Traviata," a timeless classic performed by an orchestra so talented it sent shivers down my spine. The dancers were divine, their costumes were fabulous, and the entire experience left me utterly captivated. I think itโ€™s safe to say that ballet truly transcends all borders, and that it brought a little extra magic to my time in Rome.

Ballet Performances and Classes: Finding Inspiration Everywhere

Speaking of ballet, you guys know how much I adore the world of dance, and even in Rome, I was not going to miss out on getting my ballet fix. I attended a class at an amazing studio just off the Colosseum. Let me tell you, even the Roman emperors would be jealous of their impressive facility! It felt like a fairytale, filled with grace, and joy.

Then, just for pure fun, I saw an incredible street performance of ballet right by the Pantheon. These talented young dancers brought Rome's ancient history to life with every graceful move. Truly inspiring.

Fashion and Shopping: Roman Flair

Of course, my shopping must have included some Roman Flair. I mean, I am the Queen of Pink Tutuland, so I naturally sought out all the pink delights I could find. From vintage boutiques in the Trastevere district to the chic shops of Via Condotti, Rome offers so many unique finds that made my inner fashionista absolutely swoon.

My absolute favourite finds are two incredible, sparkly pink tutus I found at a tiny shop in the Trastevere area - perfect for a little ballerina on the go! I am saving them for my next special ballet performance, so I can give all my viewers a little dose of Rome.

Food and Fun

My foodie adventures here have been absolutely divine. Rome has the best gelato, and every night has been filled with the most delectable pizza, pastas, and traditional dishes. The food truly is a part of the Italian culture - vibrant, flavourful, and served with love.

Oh, and I can't forget the delightful Italian Christmas treats. I've been indulging in panettone, chocolate, and all sorts of yummy things! Rome knows how to make Christmas special!

More to Come...

As I write this, it's a sunny and clear Roman evening, the festive lights shimmer beautifully against the twilight sky. My little heart is overflowing with happiness. But there is much more to experience in Rome - more to eat, more to see, more fashion to enjoy, and most of all, more pink tutus to share with the world.

Stay tuned for more adventures, darlings, because I've got so much more to share with you!
