#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella! (Post #195)
Wednesday, 3rd March, 1999
Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu update from your favourite ballet-obsessed globetrotter. I've finally made it to Rome! And what better way to celebrate than with a brand new pink tutu, of course! This one's a delicate blush shade, with a layer of shimmery tulle that catches the Roman sunshine perfectly.
As you all know, I love nothing more than to take the train on my adventures. This trip was no exception. Stepping off the train into the heart of Rome was a total sensory overload! I felt like a character straight out of one of my favourite ballets - Romeo & Juliet perhaps? I'm just waiting for my own personal balcony moment, darling!
Now, if you've followed my travels for any length of time, you know that my life revolves around two things: ballet and pink tutus. So, I had to do some research and found the most divine dance studio in the city - the Accademia Nazionale di Danza. Just thinking about that delicate barre, those crisp pirouettes in the Roman air… sigh. I’ll definitely be dropping in for a class.
But let's be honest, darlings, a visit to Rome isn't complete without indulging in its fashion and its shopping. I've already found some treasures! I snagged a pair of beautiful, crimson-red heels at a little shop in the Trastevere district, perfect for pairing with a billowing pink tutu. And how about a fabulous silver purse with delicate beads, hand-crafted by a local artist? Oh, my, it’s like a mini work of art!
Tonight, I’m heading to a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. Imagine - Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake beneath the opulent ceiling of Rome’s opera house, the shimmering costumes, the captivating music… It's enough to give a ballerina chills!
There's just something about the romance of Italian culture, the exquisite food (pasta alla carbonara, anyone?), the charming piazzas filled with laughter and the sun-drenched beauty that has my heart swooning.
And oh, darling, I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for a particular special someone - a Roman gentleman who understands that life is better in pink tutus. Who knows, maybe love will be the best part of my Italian adventure?
Here's to finding romance, fabulous fashion and oh-so-much ballet! Keep following along for more #PinkTutuRome adventures, dear friends.
With much love and a twirl,
Emma xx
