Pink Tutu Rome: #228 – Traipsing Through The Eternal City!
Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, here, and guess where I've landed? That's right, the magical city of Rome! The city that built the Roman Empire!
Now, you all know that I’m a total train-obsessed gal. It’s just the most relaxing way to travel! And boy, did my journey across Europe, ending with that chug into Roma Termini station, not fill my soul with a whole new zest for adventure?
This week, for Pink Tutu Rome, I'm kicking things off in a truly regal manner - and by that, I mean a massive gelato sundae! You see, finding the very best gelato is the only true test of a city's flavour, in my opinion! After all, when was the last time you were served a scoop of gelato straight from a beautifully designed, old-fashioned ice cream parlour? No time like the present!
My mission this week, darlings, is to discover Rome’s true beauty, with my pink tutu twirling as fast as I can, finding every bit of beauty that this wonderful city offers. I’m planning to be here for about a week – so I better make every minute count.
The Beauty of Ballet
You can’t imagine my thrill at finding an amazing ballet school near the Colosseum. The ‘Ballet Roman School’ - that’s Italian for ya! This is where I’ve decided to have a little private session, in case you were wondering. This city is all about embracing those majestic historical vibes, isn’t it? After a week in this city, even a girl like me is going to have a new found appreciation for the power of architecture and artistry!
You see, there’s something so incredibly exhilarating about wearing a tutu. The swishing silk as I execute those perfectly formed jetés, the little ‘whoosh’ as my pink tutu twirls in a pirouette – truly, nothing can match the feeling. Plus, you can't have a blog dedicated to pink tutus and then not actually twirl!
I mean, really, just look at this view: Imagine the photos! My pink tutu in front of the iconic Colosseum, that dramatic Roman sunset shining down… The Roman Forum behind me... just glorious! This city is a haven for pink tutu photoshoots – honestly, who needs Venice when you’ve got Rome?
Pink Shopping Spree - It's What I Do BestRight, enough of the ballet and history chat, my darling followers - I am on a mission for some serious fashion exploration. That's the other great thing about Europe – there's incredible fashion everywhere you look, from Parisian elegance to Italian cool. Rome is bursting at the seams with designer shops and those quaint little independent boutiques - every window seems to beckon me in! I even saw some exquisite little hand-crafted shoe shops, I tell you – truly, the loveliest things you have ever seen.
What better way to explore the local scene than with my best girl, Daisy? It was an utter delight, I tell you, to join her on the fashion hunt. And you wouldn't believe what we unearthed! Think flowing silk scarves, vintage Roman brooches with a little dash of cheeky-but-classy, the perfect shades, and some statement earrings that had my inner fashionista absolutely jumping for joy! Now, I’m no stranger to shopping, but the Romans know a thing or two about making a statement, my darling readers, that’s for sure! Daisy's found the best little dress shops, which is truly what I needed after the sheer exhaustion of all the train travel and my very successful private ballet lesson! It wasn't as difficult as you'd think - I found the perfect fuchsia frock, my darlings. A truly showstopper. It’s so vibrant, it practically shouts look at me!, and it pairs perfectly with a little sparkle, or a delicate chain to top it all off. It truly feels like I was destined for this city!
I can't let you all down, my lovely blog followers, without including a small update about my daily meals. Don’t even think for one second, that in my whirlwind adventures through Rome, I am skipping out on the incredible foodie offerings!
A Feast Fit For A PrincessWe found the sweetest little trattoria near our hotel. A truly romantic, rustic atmosphere - think dim lighting, brick walls and candles. My first taste of traditional Roman cuisine was exquisite: ravioli in sage butter sauce - I swear, you can practically taste the passion and care the chef puts into every bite. Now, my dear followers, you’ve probably heard all about the Italian pasta, the glorious pizza, but there is another delicacy you absolutely must try – artichokes, my dear readers! Let’s be honest, you can’t go to Rome without a decent helping of delicious artichokes, they're as vital to the city as its famous Roman emperors, and the Italians really do have a way of bringing the freshest ingredients to life.
I must admit, Rome does offer the best shopping opportunities for anything you could want, from leather bags to designer shoes – a true haven for shopaholics everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to stick to a budget – I mean, after all, you know me! And honestly, some of the most special treasures can be found in hidden corners of the city – some of these treasures I plan to tell you all about soon. And when it comes to finding that little piece of luxury for yourself, Rome definitely doesn’t disappoint!
A Week Of Pure Pink PerfectionThis week in Rome, you could say that it was truly all about a touch of romance, a whole lotta pink, and discovering just what Rome has to offer. Of course, I must admit that my shopping was a vital part of the whole Italian escapade. Who doesn't love a good shopping spree here and there, especially in a city bursting at the seams with delicious offerings! Oh! It just had me giddy – all those stunning boutiques!
One day, you know, when my love of dancing, fashion and adventure slows down, you can guarantee I will be heading to Rome for a whole year and really becoming one with the culture – with an abundance of pink tutu in tow, naturally! After all, my darlings, I'm a ballet blogger, a travel addict, and the most fervent devotee of all things pink. Who knows what treasures and adventures lie in store in the following week?
Stay tuned for the next edition of Pink Tutu Rome next Wednesday, darlings! And don't forget to let me know in the comments below: which destination should I head to next? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Ciao bella!
